In today's usage environment, processor speed alone is not enough to ensure great experience. The advanced dual core Intel Pentium D 935 processor features two 65nm processor cores each running at 3.2GHz with integrated 2MB L2 cache. The cutting edge 65nm manufacturing process significantly reduces power consumption and improves thermal performance. Users today have high expectations for their PCs and want the most productivity and enjoyment from their PCs when running multiple applications simultaneously.

The Intel dual-core processor delivers consumer value by providing additional computing resources that expand the PC's capabilities and provide platform-level advancements for consumers in the form of higher throughput and simultaneous computing. Featuring Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology and Execute Disable Bit, the Intel Pentium D 935 processor delivers outstanding desktop and workstation computing experiences.

  • newegg Dual-Core Processing with 2x2MB L2 Cache Intel dual-core Pentium D 935 processors have two complete processor cores in one physical package running at the same frequency. The cores share the same interface with chipset and memory, but each core has its own set of registers and cache for truly parallel computing. Each processor core has its own 2MB L2 Cache (4MB total) enabling improved overall system performance by allowing each core to have faster access to larger amounts of the most often used area.
  • newegg Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don't.
  • newegg Scalability and Performance with Intel EM64T Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) can improve performance by allowing the system to address more than 4 GB of both virtual and physical memory. Intel EM64T also provides support for 64 bit computing to help handle the applications of tomorrow.
  • newegg Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.

5 out of 5 eggsTHE Pentium processor to use.

Pros: The Pentium D 935 is fantastic. It is fast, it has two cores, and it works with boards that is says it will. (I always find it nice when Intel and the manufacture of my motherboard collaborate and get their information straight.) After seeing the Pentium D's superb performance with all my games and applications I wonder how I lived with one core for so long. I will never regret this buy.

Cons: As you may already know; Intel heat sinks adequately accommodate their processors, but not so much the more-than-average user. The included heat sink was the only thing I found to be a con as it is hard to install, LOUD, and it keeps things JUST UNDER dangerous temperatures. My concern isn't so much for the processor, but the additional heat takes a toll on other components like say YOUR PRECIOUS VIDEO CARD(s). Invest in an after market heat sink.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from an Intel P4 Prescott 3.2ghz and my machine's performance has doubled. I refuse to compare this processor to a Core 2 series processor because I don't want to insult the reader's intelligence. If you are looking at this review, chances are that you, like me, can't use a Core 2. The fact that this processor doesn't perform as Core 2 isn't a con, it's just a fact. The bottom line is that the Pentium D 935 is the most solid and satisfying processor I have owned of the Pentium series.

5 out of 5 eggsONLY BUY IF YOUR MOBO WONT SUPPORT CORE 2!!!!

Pros: This CPU is a good buy IF your computers motherboard is not compatible with core 2. if it is, for about the same price buy a core 2 duo e4500, its only 2.2ghz instead of 3.2ghz, but it will BLOW this CPU out of the WATER!!!!

Cons: Netburst architecture is very inefficient and runs hot in comparison to core 2's (alot of the core 2's will stay under 30c full load with good cooling, this will struggle with 40c), worse then ANY core 2 duo and maybe marginally better then pentium dualcores in some scenarios, but a pentium dualdcore would beat this IN GENERAL, and cost less, run cooler and use less power. these cpu use well over 100w and the core 2's use 65w and perform much better.

Other Thoughts: only buy this if your mobo wont work with the core 2 architecture. any cpu using con\re 2 architecture, including the $70 e2140, would be better then this.

5 out of 5 eggsStill a Good CPU

Pros: Fast, inexpensive, stable, and cool.

Cons: Might be completely obsolete in 20 yrs or so . . .

Other Thoughts: My friend and I both overclocked our 3.2 PD's to 3.5 on the day we built our systems and never backed them down. They run steady cool avg. idle is 37C and neither chip has hit 60C ever under load. Sometimes for quiet, I back my fan down to 70% and believe me, I still don't worry about temps. Really, 3.2 is fast enough . . . but . . . we always love MORE POWER!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy!

Pros: Great Proc runs cool and quite plays C&C 3 Supreme Commander and Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion at ultra high settings no problems!

Great Bang for a Little buck

If you just are a casual gamer and computer user you don't need anything better than this. I can play games that are new and do oh so much multi tasking!

Cons: Only gets a 4.8 out of 5.0 scale on Windows Vista :(

Other Thoughts: Unless you edit software and graphics this is the best for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat chip, drop the HSF

Pros: Great chip for the price. Tears through the mathematical calculations i throw at it like nothing. Overclocks well, this thing is a beast.

Cons: Just add $30-40 for a new heatsink and fan. If this were a review of the heatsink I would give it a 2, but its the processor. Sounds like a leaf blower under full load, Adequate for a while but i idle at 60c and hit 96c under load. pretty sure its not supposed to boil...

Other Thoughts: Get this before they sell out. Chip is great, drop the heatsink and fan.

5 out of 5 eggsreally fast

Pros: The really big pro that I noticed is the speed. The other big pro is that you can easily do like five or more things at the same time because it is fast and it has a dual-core.

Cons: I couldn't find any.

Other Thoughts: Before I upgraded to this one, I had a Pentium D 2.66Ghz with may seem only a little slower but my mind was blown when I used this one.
