A close 2nd to my q6600 quad
- Pros: EVERYTHING! the fan is controllable via ASUS MB for very quiet operation! Way to go INTELL this is the best CPU since the Q6600 Quad!
- Cons: wish the heat sync was larger! this one works fine and is not noisy, I HATE HEARING FANS! I may put in an ARCTIC COOLER!
- Other Thoughts: I bought a cheap asus p5ql OPEN box for a back up MB! I have 2 4890 I bought to run Crossfire! WHAT a waste that was a Single 4890 is more then enough for ANY GAME ! 1920x1200 fully maxed!
I had extra parts laying around all I needed was a CPU to put togather another LAN GAME rig! I have 2 Q6600 quad core machines allready! So I,m used to very fast machines!
So I did some research, And took a chance on this CHEAP 50$ CPU I got it today tossed it in! fired it up I had windows 7 preinstalled on a TEST hardrive! I run xp MAINLY BUT I TEST WINDOWS 7! No issues with windows 7 , I tried Call of duty 6 it ran perfect! I tried BATMAN ARKUM ran perfect! I tried Crysis ran perfect! Then I tried COD 5 in LAN ran perfect! I tried OPeration FLashpoint 2 ran perfect! this little CPU is a MONSTER! Just put it with a GOOD video card and you will have a MONSTER GAME RIG!
I will be using alot of these!
low watts
- Pros: dual core, low power usage
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: Sips 26 watts idle / 45 watts at load in a G41 mini-itx board with one 2.5" sata drive. Uses less power than the Celeron 220 it replaces, but has 2X the cores, 2X the cache, and 2X the speed. Very little heat.
Surprised at how small and low-profile the heatsink and fan were. Might have been able to fit it into my tiny mini-itx box, but I had already bought a low-profile fan. The box's 60mm case found is now the loudest element in the rig.
So pleased that I can now have a very fast 24/7 server and image processor, and not have to worry about wasting too much power.
An energy-efficient dual core
- Pros: Ideal for use in a media center PC. Hits the sweet spot for price, speed, and energy efficiency. Fast enough for any HD decoding while staying cool at minimal fan speeds (silent with provided cpu cooler). If asked, I will proudly admit that I am using a Celeron... but I still won't advertise it with a Celeron sticker on the front of my new case :-)
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: Paired the processor with an intel G45 board: DG45ID. I was worried that the motherboard wouldn't recognize this new processor without a BIOS upgrade... but alas no problems.

Highlights
 |
Specialized Dual-core Microarchitecture The dual-core Intel Celeron processor includes two execution cores in a single processor to enable execution of parallel threads or applications on separate cores, resulting in revolutionary dual-core performance, breakthrough processor energy efficiency and exceptional system response when running multi-threaded or multiple demanding applications simultaneously. The innovative 45nm dual-core technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.
|
 |
Intel Advanced Smart Cache Intel Advanced Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared L2 cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from fast L2 cache, resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
|
 |
Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the mobile processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit supporting hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
|
 |
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don’t.
|
 |
Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
