5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Unlocked, Overclockable, multitasking, turbo, multi-threaded, fits a cheaper socket type than a 900-series i7,

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It gets a 7.5(windows experience) just using turbo with no real overclock. Can be overclocked to around 4.5ghz depending on your cooling solution

5 out of 5 eggsOLDIE

Pros: At it's time this was the fastest cpu in o.c. for the 1156. I bought this before the sandy came out,at the time they had good oem 1156 m.b. then so i saved on this.

Cons: alot of money unless you have a good 1156 m.b. laying around. Some of the 1156 won't read the chip you may have to update the bios.At the time this was a newer chip. Many older m.b. wont update.. i know.

Other Thoughts: i have a 2500 no k bought as a combo it was cheaper for the two and the 2500 z68 m.b. blows this chip away there both at 3.8.These chips are like life every thing changes in two years only this is for good.2500 is my last chip im done new ivy is next year even faster.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Impressive

Pros: Unlocked. This CPU has run flawlessly since day 1. It sails along even when I'm trying to heat it up and make it burp. 9 months later and this CPU is still high-end. Intel rocks.

Cons: Yeah, right.

Other Thoughts: When its normal for your brand new PC to be near obsolete in 6 months, this CPU still holds its own. Versatile, efficient and somehow gobbles up everything I throw at it. If you have never Overclocked before..and maybe interested in trying it, this CPU clamped into an ASUS Mb (I use a P7P55D-E PRO) will allow you to OC without the worry of turning the chip to a brick. Advanced OC is joy. This CPU is still impressive to me... I will have a hard time parting with this CPU when the day comes... but that won't be for a good while yet. Can't go wrong with Intel... and this CPU is a top pick.

5 out of 5 eggsvery fast, runs cool, OC easy

Pros: Upgraded from Q6600 quad-core (OC'd at 3.2ghz) to the 875k, which is currently OC'd at 3.73ghz, runs very cool (cold actually with Corsair h50 water cooling) and will easily OC over 4ghz.

Instead of using benchmarks to measure performance improvement, I rely on some video editing, since that's primarily what I use this rig for.

Q6600 OC'd to 3.2ghz with 8gb RAM, Win7 pro 64-bit, Sony Vegas Pro 9.0e, a sample HD video mp4 encoding took 14min 48sec (888 seconds) to render.

875k OC'd to 3.73ghz with 16gb RAM, same software, same (saved) Vegas HD video project, took 8min 30sec to render (510 seconds).

Improvement is 42.5% from q6600 to 875k. There was more than 8gb free ram during this test (on new system), and all of the short video fit into ram, so the hard drive is not involved. I attribute most of the improvements to the CPU. When rendering on either system, all of the cores are pegged at 100%. Temps did not move off of idle very much (5 to 7'c).

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Cooling with Corsair H50 self-contained liquid cooler. Highly recommend that device. CPU idles at 23'C, have not seen above 29'c yet under full-load. See my Corsair H50 review for video of that temp and the device.

Using on Gigabyte P55A-UD3 motherboard, and 16gb of Corsair Vengeance RAM at 1600mhz, and OCZ RevoDrive x2 240gb. All 4 work well together.

Best bang for the buck on CPU right now. Also considered i7-970 CPU but this was better choice since it's unlocked and easier to manipulate timings for overclocking.

5 out of 5 eggsEverything I want and more...

Pros: Overclocks to 3.8 GHZ easily!!!!
It runs cool, and Couldn't have chosen a better CPU! Buy this one!!!

Cons: None as of now, just wish that I fitted it with a nicer mobo...
A little less expensive would've been nice, but its not a con

Other Thoughts: It is excellent, and it does what it is told, as well as more! Who needs a 1,000 dollar 3.33ghz extreme i7 when you could have this!

5 out of 5 eggsthe "k" meas kick a!@

Pros: had the 875k for 6mo now and its pretty good. windows 7 rating gave it a 7.6. was able to overclock to 4.1 with no voltage change. 29 degrees C when idle, 65 degrees C when gaming. Using corsiar h50.

Cons: not 32nm

Other Thoughts: im using an evga mobo and after i updated the bios, i am able to dynamically turbo boost my 875k. Without turbo boost, i had it overclocked at 4ghz all the time and normally with turbo boast, only one core is able to get to 3.7 and if you have all 4, it goes to 3.2 and when its idle, it declocks to 1.2.

With the evga bios update i am able to turbo boost all 4 cores dynamically. when its idle its at 1.2, when im gaming all 4 cores go to 4.1 without messing with the vcore. its pretty awesome.

i think asus uses the same thing im not too sure if gigabyte or msi uses that.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice.

Pros: Very simple to overclock, adjusting turbo-boost levels for assigned cores is fun on this cpu and useful.

Cons: Price. If your on air, after 4.0/4.1Ghz temps soar.

Other Thoughts: 4.1Ghz 35.8c idle - 63c max on 400 passes burninTest-standard pushing 100% with hyperthreading on. On "air" A50 corsair cooler with no other fans in case. Two Chassis fans push/pull would knock a few more degrees off at least.
