5 out of 5 eggsBad @ss! (for it's time)

Pros: Price : Performance : Value

Cons: doesn't go faster!

Other Thoughts: I've had this since January 2011.

It was initially benchmarked/burned in/tested for 36 hours without interruption or issue and as such, currently runs at the following speeds (which is what it was run on for benchmarking/burn in testing):

4.5Ghz with 16GB RAM overclocked to 1800Mhz for 36 hours.

- IN WIN Ironclad Black SECC Steel ATX Full Tower (WOW, never EVER going back to mid-tower case if i can help it!)

- MSI P55A Fuzion

- i5-655k 3.2 OC'd to 4.5 for 36 hours without issue (stayed around 60 (+/- 1) degrees Celsius at full load)

- Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler (f'ing AWESOME!)

- DDR3 16GB G.SKILL Sniper 1866

- x2 MSI N450GTS CYCLONE 1GD5/OC GeForce GTS 450 SLI

- x2 Intel 530 SSD 240GB SATA III (added on in later years)
- Intel X25-M SSD 80GB SATA II
- Intel X25-V SSD 40GB SATA II
- Seagate Hybrid Drive 500GB SATA III (added on in later years)

- ASUS Xonar D1 7.1 PCI (added on in later years)

- COUGAR 1000CMX 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI & CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC PSU

- LG DVD BR burner

- x2 3.5 drive bays with various media card readers, x4 USB 2.0's, PATA, SATA and eSATA ports with a power dongle (added later on

- PCI Express eSATA/SATA 6Gbps controller card (added later on)

- x1 120mm & x1 220mm intake(s)
- x3 120mm exhausts from Noctua (all super-duper-RUPER quiet - SHHHHHH!)

- Win7 64 Pro

5 out of 5 eggs4ghz

Pros: I'm sure this a product great, I only wish there was a lower priced quad core that was unlocked from intel. An i5 or i7 1156 socket!

Cons: none, I only wonder why the higher clocked i5's cost more than this for what I see this is better.

Other Thoughts: About the 4ghz title, I built a friend a p4 540 with ht years ago and set it at 4ghz and never had any problem with it!It games & encodes movies just as it did years ago! It's the most stable system ever built, intel makes good stuff period

5 out of 5 eggsCore i5-655K CPU

Pros: FAST: I have this baby overclocked to 4.5 GHz from the stock speed of 3.2 GHz, and let me tell you, I wonder how I ever used anything else before it. I honestly have nothing else to say that the other 128,736 have said before me

Cons: A bit tricky to get overclocked if you don't know exactly where to go or what to do. Check with your motherboard manufacturer, there is usually a forum with user input that will tell you where to go in the BIOS to get the true potential unlocked from this chip

Other Thoughts: Because everyone else is doing it:
CPU: This bad boy, the Intel Core i5-655K @3.2 GHz OC'ed to 4.5 GHz
Motherboard: EVGA P55 SLI
RAM: 8GB (4x2GB) Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600

5 out of 5 eggsNice Processor

Pros: -Unlocked... what more can I say :D

Cons: No Fan! But it's okay I wasn't planning to use a stock cooler anyways.

Other Thoughts: First time actually building a computer of my own. Was very surprised that I got it to work on the first try to be honest. The cpu runs cool enough, even with prime95 on, that I can only hear the fan from my computer case, which is actually very very quiet. The cooler I have on it is a relatively small with dual copper direct contact pipes with AS-5.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Other than the price increasing lately this is a great processor. No troubles of any kind when paired with the right setup.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Have now built over 23 systems with this configuration and all have been perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST

Pros: Blazing fast rendering of pages, smooth playback of 1080p video without a separate video card.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just built a mid-level Desktop for watching HD video and web browsing and didn't want to spend the bucks for a discrete video card, so I chose the i5 for the integrated GPU.

Paired with 4GB of G.SKill RAM, 720p Youtube videos and 1080p trailers on Apple's site run flawlessly without a frame skip or stutter. Pages render instantly on web browsing, and Photoshop performs large changes to images in the blink of an eye. Can even run older games with 3D graphics (Halo, etc) thanks to the built in DirectX.

Nice CPU.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Runs at 70F with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus at idle, 120F at 100% load. System drive is encrypted, but you can't even tell because of the AES-NI instructions...50MB write/100MB read/second on a RAID 1 mirroring setup. Amazing.

Cons: Not quad core? LOL.

5 out of 5 eggsVery overclock-able

Pros: awesome overclock. got it to 4.547 GHz while keeping the voltage under 1.4!

Cons: Wish there was N i7 unlocked CPU like this one.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from my AMD setup to an intel and bought this cpu with the Asus maximus II formula. I thought it was pretty sick that I was able to get this thing to 4.5 ghz with a V. core of about 1.38, when my Phenom II 955 black edition came stock at 3.2 Ghz and a stock voltage of 1.344.

I'm sure my mobo helps with the fact that it was a nice OC. my temps under full load are only 70 C, and that's with a Corsair H50. I know i can squeeze more out of this processor but for now 4.5 will suffice.

As for people complaining about no Heatsink being included, it is clearly stated in the specs that it is not, so....

Intel i5 655k @ 4.547 GHZ
Asus Maximus III Formula
GSkill Ripjaws 1333MHz, 16 Gigs
Corsair HX 850W
Corsair H50
2 GTS 250 in SLI

4 out of 5 eggsGraet processor

Pros: Unlocked multiplier, super cool, integrated graphics, overclocks like mad.

Cons: No heatsink on a non-OEM processor. Knocked a star off for not advertising this fact much more clearly as ALL non-OEM processors have ALWAYS had heatsinks.

Even if it came with a heatsink, I'd still complain on the lame Intel heatsink design. I hate those snap-on pins. Heatsinks should snap on! They should be bolted down, and with a backplate! the motherboard I pulled out had warped from these lame heatsinks, and so have almost all Intel boards i've replaced over the years.

Other Thoughts: It now holds me up for another week. I just stuck on an old heatsink and it's not mounted. It just sits there, but this thing runs so cool, it doesn't even get hot with a heatsink not fully attached! Awesome. I'm tempted to run it without a heatsink, just to see if it can be done! lol
