The Intel Pentium processor family based on Intel Sandy Bridge codename is the right choice for building an ideal basic desktop system. The introduction of the latest generation 32nm Hi-k manufacturing process technology brings improvements to the Intel Pentium processor over the previous generation Core microarchitecture.

Moreover, Intel HD Graphics and the memory controller have been integrated into the processor, providing great graphics performance and higher memory bandwidth. Intel Smart Cache provides a higher-performance, more efficient cache subsystem while the revolutionary Intel Microarchitecture accelerates overall system performance across your applications through energy efficiency. These Pentium processors are ideal for more traditional basic desktop systems with the power to run applications simultaneously and efficiently.

  • newegg Intel Microarchitecture Based Dual-core Processing The Intel Pentium processor includes dual execution cores in a single processor to enable execution of parallel threads or applications simultaneously, resulting in revolutionary dual-core performance, breakthrough energy efficiency and exceptional system response time when running multi-threaded applications, or multiple demanding applications. The innovative 32nm fabrication technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.
  • newegg Intel HD Graphics Intel HD Graphics with dynamic frequency up to 1.1GHz delivers smooth HD video playback and mainstream 3D gaming without the need for add-in video cards or decoders. It also supports a wide range of display connectivity options, including HDMI and DisplayPort and is dual display capable.
  • newegg Intel Smart Cache Intel Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from a faster, more efficient cache subsystem resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
  • newegg Integrated DDR3 Memory Controller The Integrated Memory Controller optimizes data bandwidth with two channels, offering stunning memory read/write performance through efficient prefetching algorithms, lower latency, and higher memory bandwidths.
  • newegg Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x) Increasing manageability, security, and flexibility in IT environments, virtualization technologies like hardware-assisted Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) combined with software-based virtualization solutions provide maximum system utilization by consolidating multiple environments into a single server or PC. By abstracting the software away from the underlying hardware, a world of new usage models opens up that reduce costs, increase management efficiency, strengthen security, while making your computing infrastructure more resilient in the event of a disaster.
  • newegg Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production, which means of enabling very high performance while also meeting the power-conservation needs.

5 out of 5 eggsUuuum, WOW!

Pros: Faster than you would think for the price. Decent graphics for on board video processing. I am really pleased with how capable this cheapy is.

Cons: It wasn't free (aka no cons)

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a decent processor for a budget machine or need a chip while you save up for a new $400 one, snag this bad boy up. It might not be the newest architecture, but this chip can do some work.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome little CPU

Pros: *Very stable CPU
*Works well for gaming (coupled with a capable GPU)
*Easy to install
*Runs at pretty low temps with included heatsink (30'C idle)

Cons: *Included heatsink is kind of cheap

Other Thoughts: The wires for the CPU fan are wrapped around the heatsink. I have purchased two of these and on both the wires had to be manually moved because they were causing the fan to not spin. After I moved the wires slightly, there was no problem.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: This is an update to my earlier review on this, and I must say, this thing is pretty amazing. I have gotten Battlefield 3 to get medium settings with high texture quality at 1440x900 resolution, and it rarely lags, even on 64 player servers with a whole bunch of nonsense going on. It also puts Diablo 3 to shame, getting a constant 60 frames, with lows coming from lag spikes in my connection I would think, and highs soaring into the 100s, and this is with vsinc on mind you. There really isn't a thing that this can't do from what I have done, it is an amazing buy to anyone looking forward using this more and hopefully getting an i5 so that can completely demolish whatever I want to as well

Cons: That this made me give it a cons section

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget gaming processor

Pros: I got a computer built for me that has this processor in it and i have to say that i am really surprised. Coming into it, i knew that it was only dual core and didnt have hyper-threading support, but this chip does not disappoint. The most intensive game i have run so far is Guild Wars 2, and paired up with a good enough graphics card, it runs it max, at around 60fps. It will run minecraft of upwards of 120fps with a 128x128 texture pack, same with tekkit which can greatly decrease the performance. It also does Planetside 2 with medium settings at 1440x900 (my screen resolution) without lag, and with out getting too hot. Counter-Strike Global Offensive runs like a dream, never gets hot and still with amazing graphics. Compared to my craptop (has an amd dual core) which took like 5 minutes to get to the point where i could do stuff, this thing is amazing.

Cons: The only game i have had trouble with is Team Fortress 2, it can run it, the processor just gets hot. I'll probably just do some tweaking and make it so i can play again

Other Thoughts: Get the G860, its faster and cheaper, but this isnt enough for me to knock off an egg for.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for general and business use

Pros: Fast enough and the internal graphics are perfectly fine for general and business use.

Cons: A little more expensive than I was hoping for, but I wanted the 1333 memory bandwidth.

Other Thoughts: Mounted on a GigaByte GA-B75M-D3V with G.SKILL Ripjaws X (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL). Win7 Pro 64 says CPU=6.7, Memory=7.6, Gaming Graphics=5.8 and Desktop Graphics=5.2 (the graphics scores come from the G850's built-in Intel HD Graphics 2000). You can see my review of the full build dated 12/13/2012 under the GA-B75M-D3V mainboard feedback.

1 out of 5 eggsMis -Leading Information about CPU

Pros: I just wanted to point out to all customers that NewEgg has made a big BOO BOO on the information on this CPU.

THIS CPU DOES NOT HAVE Intel HD2000 GFX inside the chip - it has just Intel® HD Graphics..... this is a misleading advertizement done by someone at NewEgg who didnt proof-read the submission when it went to press.

So dont buy this is you think your Getting HD2000 GFX inside this CPU like I almost did. Cause it aint their.

Cons: The standard Intel® HD Graphics that is inside this chip is not the leading edge type that is found in the i3/i5/i7 Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge CPU's.
This is pretty much Ho Hum GFX performance.
If you expect this to run as well as a i3 system GFX you will be dissapointed as it has'nt got it....

So don't buy this if you think your Getting HD2000 GFX inside this CPU like I almost did. Cause it aint there. Never Was Never Will!!!

Other Thoughts: Shame Shame I know your Name -
This should not of happen - if you doubt me look here -

I DON'T SEE NO HD2000 Spec GFX support in this CPU - listed at that link - If it was don't you think Intel would be all over it - wooping it up....

So don't buy this if you think your Getting HD2000 GFX inside this CPU like I almost did. Cause it aint their.

In California this is called product missrepsentation and I know a bunch of Ambulance Lawyers that would love to have a smuck come in the door cry'n about the CPU and how they were sold it the liabilities would include not only include the missrepresentation of a product and will also require a large settelment to anyone who purchase a CPU during the time the missleading add was inplace- Once should think 'Class Action Law Suit"
This simple snafu- will cost Millions to NewEGG -

NewEgg Correct this snafu ASAP....
