5 out of 5 eggsGreat for HTPC

Pros: I bought this to power a Linux based RAID/HTPC mini-itx build and so far it's working out great. Integrated HD Graphics plays back 1080p rips in XBMC wonderfully (and the quality is top notch). Get a motherboard with HDMI out and you won't need a video card for playback.

I was debating on this or a dual core and ultimately decided on this chip. The 65w results in lower power usage (and therefore lower heat output) which means you can get by with a low profile aftermarket cooler designed for HTPC cases just fine.

Ultimately I'm glad I bought this CPU and am pleased with my purchase.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: For the HD Graphics I didn't have to install any drivers. I loaded Ubuntu 12.04 and it was autodetected and worked out of the box. I haven't messed with any of the 5.1 surround stuff because I'm not using it now. All I did was go into the audio settings in gnome and selected "HDMI" and it just worked.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC Processor

Pros: Low power (65W)
Stock cooler is pretty quiet
HD3000 Graphics perfectly capable for 3D Blu-Ray playback

Cons: Nothing significant. Put the system together over a year ago, and only thing I seem to recall was power cable for CPU cooler needing some careful routing on Intel DH67GDB mobo... Not a CPU issue, though.

Other Thoughts: Built HTPC system around this and a Ceton InifiniTV PCIe card. Never had any problems w/ this CPU, and have always been pleased with its performance.

5 out of 5 eggsPurchased for a standard PC

Pros: I purchased this CPU to put on a Zotac Z68-ITX board and the thing is a work horse. The lower voltage is excellent for the tighter confines of the chassis, and the lower wattage power supply. I picked this CPU for the lower wattage, Quad Core (despite the lack of Hyperthreading), and the Intel HD Graphics 3000. This machine was not meant to be a gaming power house, but if I wanted to, and one could fit, I could pop in a higher end graphics card and have it definitely be a mid range system. And for a decent price over all. So far though the integrated graphics have worked excellently for anything that does not require more GPU processing. And I could probably play a few older games with few issues.

Cons: This CPU has a big foot print for an ITX board, but that was a consequence of going with a standard desktop CPU for a compact system.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good!

Pros: Even at stock 2.5 ghz it's fast and does a lot at once.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've got it running at under 100 degrees. Impressive. With 1600 ram, even XP 32 bit runs much faster than I've ever seen it. Intel states the max speed of this cpu is 4 ghz, and I'm sure that its default setting of 2.5 is why it runs cool and at 65watts.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Reliable

Pros: I purchased this CPU for a Shuttle SH67H3 and it is incredibly fast. Windows start-up time has dramatically improved. This is an upgrade from a single-core CPU system and wow what a huge difference it has made. The low wattage means my small form factor PC is kept nice and cool.

Cons: The built-in graphics capability is fairly low-end but that was expected.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Chip, Fan Design Error.

Pros: Processor is fast and stable in Intel DH67CF mother
board. love chip.

Cons: There are 3 stock coolers that can come with this processor. A Nidec, A Delta, or A Foxconn, all say intel
with same part# E97379-001 all aluminum, no copper core/plug in heatsink like on 2500k intel cooler.
Intel dropped the ball on this one.
Nidec great, delta ok but the Foxconn is designed wrong. The plast tabs that hold the fan to the metal heatsink itself hit componets on main board!
The pezo speaker on the DH67CF gets pressed down
about a 1/16 of an inch. Not cool intel.
I'm waiting for intel to swap out foxconn cooler for nidec.
The Nidec has plastic nubs on corners of plastic heastsink, the foxconn has 2 big tabs that reach underneath aluminum and hit components.

Other Thoughts: if it were me i would use the coper plug heastsink
from the fast 2500k cpu with this 2405s processor.
When Foxconn designed heatsink out side of intels specs, intel should of red flagged it.
square heatsinks should fit all 4 ways. the foxconn cooler only works 2 of 4 ways.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, cool

Pros: Needed a cooler, lower wattage CPU for an HTPC with poor ventilation (enclosed cabinet) after my old AMD Athlon 64 X2 burned out. Works fast and cool, max 50 degrees at peak load

Cons: Expensive compared to other similarly qualified chips

Other Thoughts: Using the stock heatsink and AS6 thermal compound
