3 out of 5 eggsGreat at video editing!

Pros: The only pros is I didn't pay for it or anything else my cousin put into it.
Both systems run same parts and at 5.2ghz clock speed
Was given to me to do video editing for him

Cons: Runs why to hot at 84c under full load which is terrible for a CPU my system is at 35c under full.
I know the water-cooling system that was made works great we put in my CPU and motherboard and I was at 25c full load on prime95 after 2full days

Other Thoughts: I've used both Extreme processors from intel I still think the fx8150 is better.
System specs
Asus rampage v
32gb cosair dominator ram
6 intel ssds not sure which raid0
2 intel 910 pcie ssds in raid0 as boot
We have tried 2 devil13s so 7970s
And 2 680s and 660titans still slow to me

5 out of 5 eggsStill #1 for Video Encoding

Pros: Been running this chip at near 100% for 6-15 hour stretches for a year now while producing my videos, and have NEVER had an overheat or restart. Transcodes in real time H.264 on my setup.

Cons: none, resell value once it is outdated might be a disappointment, something I always think about when buying for my production.

Other Thoughts: Paired this with an EVGA gxt 680 4 GB card, and Adobe Premiere Pro via the creative cloud (CS6 right now) fully uses 100% of this processor and 60% of the graphics card together during an encoding Im watching right now. A complex 1 hour full HD timeline with about 15 heavy adjustments on each clip is taking about 3 hours to fully render in H.264. Thats still amazing, considering that includes skin smoothing, noise reduction, shadow/highlights, ect... Then it transcodes the final to 4 different formats at the same time in about 1 hour total. Not bad....not bad at all!

5 out of 5 eggsdont get it

Pros: yes its very fast and will beat any other desktop in benchmarking

Cons: waste of money, ir your not trying to get the highest benchmark or world record its usless for ordinary use... in editing you may save 20 secs of time but it isnt worth 800 dollars extra.... save it and get ssds or better gpus

5 out of 5 eggsZOOM

Pros: All I can say is that it rocks. I was not going to buy it bacause of the price but I'm glad I did now. I have seen since I bought my cpu that the price has gone up. Xmas what can you say but people try to make a buck now off it.

Cons: If you are going to buy one then I do know that your going to need a good water cooler. Encoding video files my HT-100 still lets the cpu get to 115 degrees and if it had only air cooled I know it would be much hotter.

Other Thoughts: Merry Xamas Everyone :) :)

5 out of 5 eggsTo Mark4 regarding Shipping

Pros: Never request special handling or speedy shipping at New Egg it gets you no place fast. As they have warehouses nation wide and going with standard shipping will get it to you in 1-3 days max, Usually like 36 hours.

As the ole saying goes, "There is never time to do it Right but always time to Do It OVER!"

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: No special shipping

5 out of 5 eggsIntel 3960 Screamer

Pros: AMDfanboislawl
I will have to side with ya bro, This processor kicks tail Actually haven't bought it as yet, but and seriously thinking about it. I am currently running the i7 3820 3.60 on liquid cooling.

Cons: Price but as is always said you do get what you pay for in this business!

Other Thoughts: If you are not prepared to go to vegas and gamble 1k away at the tables then this CPU is not for you, If you are, then redirect your credit card to Newegg and click on Buy Now on the processor.

talk to ya all laterzzz

5 out of 5 eggsbest of the best

Pros: Bought this a year ago and haven't looked back. This was the fastest desktop CPU on the market. Period. Now it's been surpassed by the 3970x, but such is the IT market. Anyone toting that their AMD ~$200+ CPU is faster (like rooster boy here) just doesn't have the cash for an upgrade. I won't get too far into branding arguments. Intel's business practices suck, if you're looking bang-for-your buck then this is not the CPU for you, as you are on a budget. But this CPU will blow any non-intel product out of the water. Compare AMD vs the lower end sandy and ivy bridges elsewhere, your product does not belong in the same league as this one.

Cons: Price? Really if you don't have $1k to drop on this without consequences, obviously don't do it. Price per performance is even pretty bad, but no other desktop CPU comes close. Not even the high-end Opteron server CPUs can catch up.

Other Thoughts: If money isn't an issue, look up benchmarks for CPUs on the market right now. Unless you want to keep pouring liquid nitrogen onto your cpu, AMD can't beat this processor at all. Really can't even come close.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Woo it's shiny and fast wow amazing

Cons: -It's made by Intel, which is the equivalent of a Mac.
-It's hyper-threaded, which means some of the "cores" are floating-point instead of actual physical cores.
-The price is outrageous for something that's slower than a <$200 AMD
-Does it even lift?

Other Thoughts: I have an AMD FX-4170 Black Edition and it absolutely destroys my friends' Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge processors in the benchmark. Not only does mine have lower heat generated, mine also doesn't run at the full clock speed unless it's actually being used. Don't waste an obscene amount of money on a processor like this. Just get an FX-6000 series or even an FX-8000 series. They're better in every way.

Pros: This is the best cpu out .And is fast the price is great

Cons: with my 75 dollar cpu i can do the same amount of work .At least im not poor.

Other Thoughts: Im so happy now with this cpu when i click on AOL it loads fast .Why use a cheaper cpu that does the same when i can make fun of broke people .this cpu it worth way more.
