5 out of 5 eggsWhy Get Anything Else

Pros: Unless you are needing an incredibly large amount of rendering done this is the best chip you can get. There is absolutely no reason to go with the $1000 version of this chip. The only way to go better is an 8-core Xeon, but then is it worth $1500 more for two cores? Chip has overclocked beautifully up to 4.63 and no issues w/ 24 hr prime95 torture test. Paired with Corsair H100 the highest I can get the temp is 68 degrees. Overall couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Cons: None so far, will update if needed

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: I decided to go all out on a new system build. Knowing that it is overkill and not really interested in overclocking, I went ahead anyways. I'm sure that I'll be using this build for quite a long time.

Cons: With my new system build all components are scoring a 7.9 rating, with the exception of this processor, which scores only an 7.8 rating. I'm fine with that and can probably clock it to get to 7.9, but it's fast enough at stock speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsRockin CPU for productivity

Pros: It's a 6 core/12 thread desktop cpu that doesn't have the premium of an extreme edition. This thing destroys multimedia production like video rendering, live streaming, compression and file type conversion, etc, as well as any kind of serious multi-tasking. Single threaded performance is outstanding as well, especially at high overclocks.

I have mine under an H100 and it overclocks well. I have it sitting at 4.3GHz but I could definitely push it higher if I wanted to.

Quad channel memory and 40pcie lanes mean this thing can comfortably sit at the helm of even the most extreme system (I have it running a raid card, a high end single gpu, and an 8gb/s infiniband card, as well as 8x8gb of ram)

Cons: Heat. OC'd to 4.3GHz this thing sucks down around 220W just by itself under full load and that 220W has to go somewhere. It definitely calls for something something like an H100(i), h110, kracken x60, noctua nh-14, or thermaltake water 2.0 extreme to keep it cool at good temps.

Also, price. It costs 70% more than a 3770k and only has 50% more cores on a 5-10% slower architecture. That being said, if you need the cpu horesepower, there's really no contest for this chip.

Other Thoughts: I have no regrets with this chip. I'm running it in a sabertooth x79 board with 8x8gb of corsair vengeance memory, an lsi raid card, a gtx 680, and a mellanox connect x2 infiniband HCA. I've use it for CAD work, video editing/rendering, folding at home, and gaming, and it has proved to be well worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsNot cheap, but quite powerful

Pros: My first hex-core, and I'm pleased. Overclocked very easily without even raising the voltage.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: VERY VERY FAST!!! Total of 12 Cores so yeah def. top of the line. Paired with the H100i idle at 35C
Runs Crysis 3 no prob about 55c (Heavy CPU game)
Trust me this is a very solid CPU enjoy

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a top of the line CPU to pair with a top of the line GPU look no further. Also going with this CPU remember its LGA2011 so match with a LGA 2011 Motherboard. Im using this board with the Asus Sabertooth

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast. Very Fast. And extremely stable, even while being used for intensive processes on the PC. Running Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop all at the same time. Have overclocked to 4.12Ghz without so much as a hiccup. Paired with a legitimate liquid cooler (Corsair H100, here) the temperatures even when under heavy stress remain in the mid 40C range, peaking at near 50C sometimes. Very. VERY impressive.

Cons: None that I can see, after a number of months of hard use there's been no issues.

Other Thoughts: You won't regret spending the little bit extra on this excellent quality chip.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is a great CPU

Pros: Fast, 12 threads, crazy overclocks. I love this cpu. It takes anything I throw at it. 4.7GHz stable overclock. One of the best processors on the market. Plus 40 pcie lanes and most motherboards supporting pcie3.0, what is not to love.

Cons: Price. However, you get what you pay for. Also, x79 is not the easiest thing to overclock but the chips overclock well and this one is no exception.

Other Thoughts: Best CPU you can get for the money

5 out of 5 eggsWow just wow

Pros: Processing is amazing at every aspect! Not too hard to overclock. Quite easy to get to 4.0Ghz. I have put this through the ringer and it's surpassed my expectations at every step. Raw data modeling has found it's sweet spot with this processor. This can be both a workhorse and a speed demon.

Cons: I could mention the power consumption, but that's like saying a V12 engine uses more gas than a 4 cylinder. You want power; it's gonna require more fuel. So not really a con, is it?

Other Thoughts: I just changed from a 1090T to this. For the money the 1090T was impressive, but I'm not at all regretting the upgrade.
