Once again Intel sets the pace in competition for performance and power efficiency with the 3rd Generation Intel Core processors, codenamed Ivy Bridge. Built on the market-leading previous generation Sandy Bridge architecture, the state-of-the-art Ivy Bridge not only continues the excellence in all aspects with Intel Hyper-Threading technology, Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Smart Cache, but pushes the pace a step farther with groundbreaking 22nm 3D transistor technology, which delivers an unprecedented combination of performance and power efficiency, and a couple of key refinement. The built-in visual is another leap offering you enhanced media and graphics. The Ivy Bridge IGP also supports DirectX 11 and OpenCL 1.1 to deliver incredibly detailed gaming and better heterogeneous computing performance.

The Intel Core i7-3770K packs four cores with Hyper-Threading technology and Turbo Boost 2.0 technology to deliver top-of-the-line performance that makes a difference you can see and feel in HD or 3D, multitasking or multimedia. Its unlocked multiplier allows you to freely adjust the frequency when used with compatible motherboard, pushing the performance to a new level and pumping the max out of your investment.

  • newegg Intel 22nm 3-D Transistor The 3rd Generation Intel Core processors employ the world's first 3-D transistor manufactured at 22nm. Intel's 3-D Tri-Gate transistor uses three gates wrapped around the silicon channel in a 3-D structure, enabling an unprecedented combination of performance and energy efficiency, and ensuring that the pace of technology advancement consumers expect can continue for years to come.
  • newegg Evolved Graphics Built-in visual features such as the Intel Quick Sync Video 2.0 and Intel Clear Video HD Technology enable compelling user experiences across a wide range of intelligent systems. Whether your application involves medical imaging, video surveillance, or HD media playback, the 3rd generation Intel Core processors support smooth visuals, quick digital image downloads, high-density media processing, and synchronous video streams. 4 out of 5 eggsGood processor but expensive

Pros: Good processor with great speed and quad core

Cons: expensive

Other Thoughts: Upgraded a client from an i5 to an i7. The i5 was 3.4Ghz quad core and the i7 was 3.5Ghz quad core. Informed the customer they probably wouldn't notice much difference. The i5 was about $190 vs. the i7 which was $330 for the price the performance was so marginal that it didn't even up the user rating for windows. Personally I felt it was a waste of money for the client, but that's what he wanted. For the price difference and the performance difference the i5 was the better deal in my opinion. However, I know the i7 is supposed to be the better processor according to intel.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome cpu

Pros: running AIDA64 at 100% load @4.4ghz@1.15v on a thermaltake c4 air cooler, it hit peaks of 66C... not bad for air.... idles around 35C.... readings done with cpuid hardware monitor

Cons: didnt come with a free case of beer

5 out of 5 eggsi7 3770k

Pros: -Noticeably faster than my prior i5 3470
-My chip overclocks to 4.0 with no voltage changes, 4.1 with +0.020 on vcore and currently 4.3 at 1.260 vcore
-Gained 2-5 max fps, 4-10 minimum fps (depends on game)

Cons: The killer $300+ price tage. Ivy 1155 has been out for 2 years now they need to lower the price. You can get a haswell or ivy-e for the same or cheaper but I would have to buy a new motherboard which I don't feel like doing right now

Other Thoughts: A lot of people say if you already have a sandy or ivy i5 don't bother upgrading to the i7. Well in most cases you wont see much difference but between my i5 3470 with the multiplier at max (x38) vs this at stock 3.5 is shocking. I have an EVGA gtx 780 sc 6gb gpu and my i5 would struggle in rare cases in SWTOR, Crysis 3, and BF4 online because there would be a little micro stuttering at high-ultra settings. Put the i7 in and it went all away. Plus I wanted to utilize my overclocking abilities so that's why I upgraded and i wasn't going to upgrade from an i5 3470 to an i5 3570k...why? Also I plan on getting a new cpu and motherboard when either haswells devils canyon comes out or better yet broadwell or maybe even ivy-e. Going to wait on DDR4 for at least 5 years my team 2666 ram rocks. All in all if you have a lga 1155 and want to upgrade get an i7 and if you have a z75/z68/z77 board get the k edition

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I'm at a loss of words with this CPU.

My main usage is gaming. I have a GTX 780ti and before this cpu I had an i5 2500k running at 4.7GHz. Initially I was unsure of whether I needed an upgrade at all; anywhere I went I was told that I would see little to no performance improvement.

They were wrong.

Well, they were partially wrong. You see, My average fps didn't go up by much; I'd say about a 5-15% improvement depending on the game. What did see major improvements were my frame time variances and minimum fps. And for anyone who knows anything about this stuff, this is HUGE.

I could not get smooth looking games on the 2500k no matter how high I clocked it. Yes, I did see pretty high framerates but it all felt very jittery, uneasy. Microstutters were driving me insane. And I refused to believe that it was caused by my 780ti. So I decided I would take the risk of potentially blowing ~$300 on a needless purchase.

I am not disappointed.

I will never buy anything less than i7's. Ever.

Cons: Run's really hot if you try to push the multipliers too high. Definitely doesn't handle an overclock like Sandy Bridge, but it seems to run just as well or better at moderate overclocks as the 2500k ran at monster overclocks.

Other Thoughts: I feel like I have to go back and replay everything I had every played from how smooth it all looked. I can not wait for the GSYNC monitors.

5 out of 5 eggsvery Happy

Pros: Very fast, other than benchmarks and even without the significant over clock i can achieve i have still not needed the full power of this cpu. everything happens instantly and without drawing too much power. When idle I see around 20 watts!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Good buy, would definitely recommend it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU, but worth it?

Pros: Great processor and the lower power consumption is a plus over my old Sandy Bridge i5. Games load fast and I haven't notice much heat as other people have said.

Cons: I can't really say it's worth the $329.99 as I haven't really noticed a huge performance difference between this and my old i5 2500K. The differences depend mostly on the game and/or program.

Other Thoughts: Good solid CPU and uses low power, gets a little hotter than Sand Bridge CPUs, but as long as you have a decent aftermarket CPU cooler you'll be fine. Wouldn't recommend this processor to anyone that's coming from i5 or Sandy Bridge i7, but if you're looking for a new build or coming from an i3 or lower this processor is perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU!

Pros: -Extremely Reliable for the 2 - 3 years I've owned it, no down time on this processor.
-Very, very fast in various tasks i.e converting files, gaming, and everyday computing.

Cons: can get pretty hot if you don't have an aftermarket cooler, highly recommend investing in a good one with quiet fans. Other than that not really anymore cons. it is what it is advertised to be, a great processor.

Other Thoughts: Also get better thermal paste obviously. Might OC it, but there really isn't much need for it since every task i throw at it it takes it like a champ.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper CPU!

Pros: Fantastic processor and blazing FAST FAST!! I've used the 2500K for about 3 years, and mainly for gaming, but the every day usages, and oh, boy video editing--major stump with that one. I anticipate much greater responses and workability with the hyperthreading. So, when I'm doing photo editing, or video editing, it was worth the extra $$$, and the WAIT! It was still worth the wait.

Cons: Price....Yikes, well to most people maybe that's not a biggie, but looking at the 2500k/3570k cpu prices, it was tempting--but still glad I invested the extra. Not really, it's very stable--and worth it

Other Thoughts: If you're going to game, not necessary most likely needed, if you're going to do photo/video editing, the hyperthreading is really worth spending the $100 that I would have spent over the 2500K/3570K CPU's.
