5 out of 5 eggs3770K

Pros: Excellent proc, started to go with the 3770 model to save a few $$ which would have been fine, but I like to play around with OCing a bit. Thing is I don't need to, it's installed in an Asus Sabertooth Z77 board w/32gb of Corsair ram, Installed a Thermaltake Water cooler Extreme 2.0. in a Thermaltake Chaser II monster sized case with 3 200MM fans, plus 2x 140 on the radiator, and one 140 to exhaust the video card area. Also running 4 Seagate 1Tb drives set up for RAID 10, which is nice.
So with the built in Intel turbo boost, or what ever they call it, it runs on it's own at 4.2. Temps hover at ambient temp of around 28° and has never went over 33° under load.
Bottom line is I haven't felt the need to overclock it yet.

Cons: could have got by fine with the non K model. But may need the option to OC it in the future

Other Thoughts: Update to original review posted on 07/22/2013.
Proc is still performing nicely
I see it has been replace by the new i7-4790K Devil's Canyon, which I'm sure is a bit faster and a improvement compared to this model, just wanted to update my review and let some of you that are on a tighter budget, or building an extra PC for other family members, If you can catch a good deal on one of these you wont be sorry.
I like the new i7-4790K Devil's Canyon CPUs but for my needs this one does all I ask and more. Running it OCed a little bit, nothing extreme and no over-volting is needed to get it up to and over 4.2 as long as you have quality ram it'll handle it just fine.
Running this CPU a Asus 960GTX Video card and 32Gb of RipJaw ram (4x8), with a Thermaltake Water Cooler 2.0 to keep it cool and it stays around 27C and in the lower 40C range under heavy loads. Also have 5 1Tb drives setup with Raid 10 and a very nice Thermaltake Chaser II case. All mounted on an Asus Sabertooth Z77 board. Fan control is amazing, very quite. Running the MBs fan control works great, you can set the temps and speed of the fans in the software, or in the BIOS (EUFI) so most of the fans fire up on booting then shut down and rarely need to kick on at all. That takes a little time so set up each of the fans (I have 6) to achieve the settings you want, but that time is well spent. Recommend setting it up in the BIOS so it is saved even if your OS craps out. Fine tune it using the software and take notes, so that when you go into the BIOS you have all the figures to plug in.
If you don't want to fool with all the fine tuning, the case also have buttons for High, Medium and low, but if you want some of the fans to shut off completely, you have to take the time to do it manually.

Summary Quality Ram, Good Video Card and this CPU will suit you just fine.

5 out of 5 eggs3 years later

Pros: First of all I have edited my previous comment from way back when. Second I am stable at 4.7 Ghz.... Ive been running my machine at 4.5 happily for the past three years and recently decided to push a bit further because a friend let me build his newer age i5 6600k machine. In doing so I wanted to test out my own and went to work. I´ve had this water cooled since I got it back in 2013 and it´s reached as high as 99c, yes scary but I´m still here. I must say it has been a pleasure working with this processor and absolute blast gaming with it. To see this thing beat some of its newer aged kin is an awesome feeling.

Cons: Voided warranty after I delided it. Then again that was on me.

Other Thoughts: Happy Asian.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.5GHz

Pros: Extremely fast and capable of handling anything I can throw at it.

Cons: None that I can find.

Other Thoughts: I've managed to OC this CPU to 4.7GHz, using a Corsair water cooling system. I simply couldn't be happier with this processor. I've had it for years and it handles every game I've installed (as of 2-20-16). I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 eggsBought this beast in 2012! 4.5Ghz 24/7

Pros: Strong Overclocker
Handles every game like a champ
No throttling issues (running a pair of 7970 Ghz edition overclocked)
Low voltage with proper overclock= less heat
Works excellent with Corsair H105
Haven't pushed this chip's limits

Cons: -stock heatsink/ fan is a piece of garbage
-some owner's complaint of unstable overclocks past 4.1Ghz?
-its like winning a lottery with chips. Some are incredible overclockers and some are just not.

Other Thoughts: Keeping this chip for maybe another couple years. New processors from Intel are simply amazing, no doubt about that, but just aren't worth upgrading if you have 2600k/2700k/3770k cpu. With some tweaking and overclocking, these chips can match and even surpass new Intel cpus (not if they are extremely overclocked tho, haha)

My 3770k is overclocked to 4.5Ghz with only 1.176v stable. Less heat, longer chip life = win!

5 out of 5 eggs3-years strong

Pros: Stable, overclocked at 4.0 without any problems at all since I bought
this fine processor in 2012. Handles Witcher 3 and the likes very easily
along with web building and other graphical intense programs.

Cons: Couldn't stabilize at 4.1 for some reason, even with liquid cooler.

Other Thoughts: If you can get your hands on this one, it's worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: easy to overclock, im not as hardcore as some computer fanatics, but mines running at a very stable 4.5Ghz and has been since the day i bought it, going on two years now.

Cons: pushing 5Ghz gets tricky, but i dont have tons of money to buy other hardware to test, but with what i have everything runs perfect!

Other Thoughts: maybe do some research for the most compatible ram

1 out of 5 eggsWorked fine for 3 years

Pros: worked great

Cons: Died in 3 years the week after warranty expired. Tested with 3 different Z77 motherboards, new PSU, new ram, and lent it to another person to test and they determined it was CPU failure also. Waste of money if you're going to have it die in 3 years

Other Thoughts: Will give Intel 1 more try with the i7 6700K

5 out of 5 eggsVery fast CPU. Great workhorse.

Pros: Although it is a very fast CPU, I feel like an idiot for purchasing it as there is no humanly discernible difference between this and the i7 2600 that it replaced. Both CPUs are insanely powerful. Even after a couple of years.

I think it uses less power than the i7 2600. So that is a bonus.

I think the performance is supposed to be about ten to fifteen percent over the i7 2600.

Cons: There is less OC headroom on this than the i7 2600, but there is not really any point in overclocking something this powerful.

Other Thoughts: Great CPU, unless you are already running the i7 2600.
