Once again Intel sets the pace in competition for performance and power efficiency with the 3rd Generation Intel Core processors, codenamed Ivy Bridge. Built on the market-leading previous generation Sandy Bridge architecture, the state-of-the-art Ivy Bridge not only continues the excellence in all aspects with Intel Hyper-Threading technology, Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Smart Cache, but pushes the pace a step farther with groundbreaking 22nm 3D transistor technology, which delivers an unprecedented combination of performance and power efficiency, and a couple of key refinement. The built-in visual is another leap offering you enhanced media and graphics. The Ivy Bridge IGP also supports DirectX 11 and OpenCL 1.1 to deliver incredibly detailed gaming and better heterogeneous computing performance.

The Intel Core i7-3770K packs four cores with Hyper-Threading technology and Turbo Boost 2.0 technology to deliver top-of-the-line performance that makes a difference you can see and feel in HD or 3D, multitasking or multimedia. Its unlocked multiplier allows you to freely adjust the frequency when used with compatible motherboard, pushing the performance to a new level and pumping the max out of your investment.

  • newegg Intel 22nm 3-D Transistor The 3rd Generation Intel Core processors employ the world's first 3-D transistor manufactured at 22nm. Intel's 3-D Tri-Gate transistor uses three gates wrapped around the silicon channel in a 3-D structure, enabling an unprecedented combination of performance and energy efficiency, and ensuring that the pace of technology advancement consumers expect can continue for years to come.
  • newegg Evolved Graphics Built-in visual features such as the Intel Quick Sync Video 2.0 and Intel Clear Video HD Technology enable compelling user experiences across a wide range of intelligent systems. Whether your application involves medical imaging, video surveillance, or HD media playback, the 3rd generation Intel Core processors support smooth visuals, quick digital image downloads, high-density media processing, and synchronous video streams. The support for DirectX 11, OpenCL 1.1 and OpenGL 3.1 takes your gaming and computing experience to a brand new level.
  • newegg Intel Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) Intel Hyper-Threading Technology delivers thread-level parallelism on each processor resulting in more efficient use of processor resources—higher processing throughput—and improved performance on the multi-threaded software of today and tomorrow.
  • newegg Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 Designed to increase performance of both multi-threaded and single-threaded workloads, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 allows the processor core to opportunistically and automatically run faster than its rated operating frequency/render clock if it is operating below power, temperature, and current limits. Furthermore, the processor can optimize both processor and Processor Graphics performance by managing power for the overall package, allowing an increase in the render core frequency and increased graphics performance for graphics intensive workloads.
  • newegg INTEL SMART CACHE This large last-level cache enables dynamic and efficient allocation of shared cache to all cores to match the needs of various applications for ultra-efficient data storage and manipulation.
  • newegg Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel AVX) Intel AVX is a new 256 bit instruction set extension to SSE and is designed for applications that are Floating Point (FP) intensive. Intel AVX improves performance due to wider vectors, new extensible syntax, and rich functionality. This results in better management of data and general purpose applications like image, audio/video processing, scientific simulations, financial analytics and 3D modeling and analysis.

5 out of 5 eggs3-years strong

Pros: Stable, overclocked at 4.0 without any problems at all since I bought
this fine processor in 2012. Handles Witcher 3 and the likes very easily
along with web building and other graphical intense programs.

Cons: Couldn't stabilize at 4.1 for some reason, even with liquid cooler.

Other Thoughts: If you can get your hands on this one, it's worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: easy to overclock, im not as hardcore as some computer fanatics, but mines running at a very stable 4.5Ghz and has been since the day i bought it, going on two years now.

Cons: pushing 5Ghz gets tricky, but i dont have tons of money to buy other hardware to test, but with what i have everything runs perfect!

Other Thoughts: maybe do some research for the most compatible ram

1 out of 5 eggsWorked fine for 3 years

Pros: worked great

Cons: Died in 3 years the week after warranty expired. Tested with 3 different Z77 motherboards, new PSU, new ram, and lent it to another person to test and they determined it was CPU failure also. Waste of money if you're going to have it die in 3 years

Other Thoughts: Will give Intel 1 more try with the i7 6700K

5 out of 5 eggsVery fast CPU. Great workhorse.

Pros: Although it is a very fast CPU, I feel like an idiot for purchasing it as there is no humanly discernible difference between this and the i7 2600 that it replaced. Both CPUs are insanely powerful. Even after a couple of years.

I think it uses less power than the i7 2600. So that is a bonus.

I think the performance is supposed to be about ten to fifteen percent over the i7 2600.

Cons: There is less OC headroom on this than the i7 2600, but there is not really any point in overclocking something this powerful.

Other Thoughts: Great CPU, unless you are already running the i7 2600.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance 3 years later

Pros: Overclocks like a beast. Very stable at 4.6 GHz right now. Overall this is the fastest CPU I've evern owned.

Cons: None that I've seen in my 3 years of ownership. Decent price for what you're getting, I've had it for awhile and it still performs very well with demanding tasks, and no problems I've seen.

5 out of 5 eggsBig Difference

Pros: I went from a i5 to this i7. I am not a gamer but I need really good performance for the video work I do. Now the i5 is a great performer at 3.2 GHz but you add just .3GHz and get the i7 it's a much bigger difference than you might think. All the video work I do now easily clear and quick.

Cons: Run just maybe 2° warmer than the i5 but not enough to worry about. But though I could I am not over clocking this rig at this time and the standard heat sink is fine.

5 out of 5 eggsoh yeah

Pros: Going on heavy usage almost 2 years running now, on this chip and flawless OC, to 4.9 on an asus maximus IV extreme board air cooled and never overheats, PC is rarely ever off.

just saw i never gave this chip a review and needed to because it is flawless. need a high level over view go to youtube there are millions to choose from, but 2 yeas strong and still rocking under super heavy >50% load 90% of the time and cant ask for more than that

Cons: nothing at all

Other Thoughts: great chip, well worth it, the new ones are out and considering upgrading and moving this box to a secondary machine but it is not needed with the awesome power out put of the 3770k

5 out of 5 eggs3770k

Pros: Great CPU Over clocks with little to no effort on a quality mb. Placed mine in an Asus Sabertooth Z77 board and the turoboost kicked in so 3.9 was there on demand. I went with quanity over quality so I went with 32gb of Corsair value ram which run as advertised, and handles the 5urbo boost to 3.9 just fine, but that's the rams limit. I bumped it up to 4.2ghz and it hit the wall for this ram. Tried a friend better ram and it ran smooth as silk at 4.2Ghz. Didn't want to push (over volt) on borrowed ram but it bumped it up to 4.5 and added .1v and it was stable. P
Felt like 4.8-5.0 would be an easy goal with quality ram.
Considering a new CPU but instead I plan to get better ram and push this up to 4.8-5.0Ghz instead. Based on my test I'll feel confident running it at this speed.
If your considering an upgrade that requires a new MB, don't, crank this baby up and save a bundle while waiting on the next gen.

Cons: None other than 1155 boards are getting dated
