Whether it’s HD media, 3D gaming, or serious multitasking, unlock your full potential with the 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3770S processor. The entirely new 22nm process employed by the 3nd generation Intel Core i7-3770S Processor achieves dramatic performance gain at low operating voltage. With top-of-the-line speed complemented by Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, a rich set of features, and Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, it delivers 3rd generation visibly smart performance at its best with the flexibility to set your system specs just the way you like. Moreover, the 3rd generation Intel Core processor with alpha suffix “S” that indicates “Performance Optimized Lifestyle” has a lower TDP of 65W, ideal for both performance and energy conscious users.

  • newegg Intel Revolutionary 22nm transistors technology Transistors have now entered the third dimension. Intel brings 22nm 3-D Tri-Gate transistors (the core of microprocessors) to its third generation Core processors Ivy Bridge. Intel's 3-D Tri-Gate transistors are an important innovation needed to continue Moore’s law and deliver an unprecedented combination of performance and power efficiency. By forming conducting channels on three sides of a vertical fin structure, Tri-Gate transistors can have multiple fins connected together to increase total drive strength for higher performance. The new 22nm 3-D Tri-Gate transistors can deliver up to 37% performance increase at low voltage and more than 50% power reduction at low voltage.
  • newegg Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 More intelligent, energy-efficient, and dynamic than previous generation, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 gives you accelerating performance when you need it. It delivers an even greater automatic speed increase by allowing processor cores to run faster than the base operating frequency for demanding applications if the processor is operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits.
  • newegg Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) Today's Intel Hyper-Threading Technology (Intel HT Technology) delivers thread-level parallelism on each processor resulting in more efficient use of processor resources—higher processing throughput—and improved performance on the multi-threaded software of today and tomorrow.
  • newegg Integrated Memory Controller Integrated memory controller enables two channels of DDR3 1333/1600 MHz memory, resulting in up to 25.6 GB/sec memory bandwidth. Plus the memory controller's lower latency and higher memory bandwidth delivers amazing performance for data-intensive applications.
  • newegg Intel Smart Cache Intel Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from faster, more efficient cache subsystem resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
  • newegg Built-in visuals The visual features built into the 3nd generation Intel Core processor family deliver everything you need to enjoy a stunning and seamless visual experience. Intel Quick Sync Video and newly-added Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) make media processing incredibly fast. New built-in Intel HD Graphics with DirectX 11 support delivers discrete 3D graphics performance without the needed cost and power of a discrete graphics card, and features Intel Clear Video Technology that enhances video playback, image quality, and color fidelity for a premium visual experience. What’s more, add another dimension to what you see on your PC with Intel InTRU 3D technology which supports stereoscopic 3D Blu-ray playback in full 1080p resolution over HDMI 1.4 and premium audio.

5 out of 5 eggsTerrific value

Pros: low power usage, runs cool

Cons: price of course, and you do get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: Much of the issues with this chip and 1155 cpu motherboard issues are because this newer tech requires a little more knowledge to build, getting the right drivers, etc. A good tip to set up is to; 1) use regular VGA port instead of HDMI or digital (change to after you have up and running) 2) use usb 2 not 3 outputs wired for keyboard and mouse till after you have up and running. Then install wireless or use the usb 2 outlets. These two tips would have saved me a lot of time had I known when I first installed.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat power for only 65W

Pros: in terms of "fuel economy" and heat, this processor is a fantastic value. stays relatively cool due to low W needs, and is good for an always-on computer; energy costs are low for the power youre getting. ive been very pleased with this cpu, and its above average performance.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: its about 40% less powerful than CPUs that cost upwards of 3x as much, so not bleeding edge fast, but those processors also require 2x as much electricity, and probably demand superior cooling solutions as well.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after 8 Months

Pros: I thought something was off after the build but nothing showed up in the benchmark/burn-in logs. Ran for 8 months...Yipee!

Cons: Started tossing BSOD. Now I get to RMA this and deal with G o d only knows what. Thanks Intel, for not testing a $350.oo product.

Other Thoughts: Never buying an Intel processor again. Going to try to convince all my customers to go AMD if they ask about Intel.

5 out of 5 eggsQuick and cool

Pros: Smokes everything else I have. Much cooler than what it replaced.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have a desk 'made for' a computer. The desk designer clearly never tried to put a computer in because only the smallest ATX cases would fit and it's old enough to outdate any real use of ITX. Then once you shoehorned something in, it would bake potatoes if you put them in the box due to the poor cooling. I clearly needed a new solution. This chip is the perfect answer, much faster than the (admittedly old) chip that used to reside in the box and significantly lower temp as well.

5 out of 5 eggsESXi Test Server

Pros: Runs cool, throttles down nicely, works well with ESXi, does a great job crunching when it has to

Cons: They aren't giving them away for free!

Other Thoughts: I bought this CPU and paired it with a Intel BOXDQ77MK Q77 chipset board to use as an ESXi server to build test machines and beat them up. I could not be happier with the features in this CPU and how well it pairs with the Q77 chipset. ESXi runs like a dream, and I have 13 servers running on the box right now. They're not heavily hit production machines, but they are a mix of Win2K8 Server, Win2012 Server, and CentOS boxes. All of those virtual environments utilize the CPU very efficiently. Couldn't be happier.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, and very fast.

Pros: Everything runs smooth and fast with this baby.

Cons: Cant be overclocked at all apparently. With even the slightest overclock, I get crashes frequently.

5 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

Pros: Processor delivers, native PCI 3.0, USB 3.0, and intel software. Sped up my video conversions.

Cons: Probably should have went for the 3770K

Other Thoughts: Got this for a friend's build. 3770K was not available and he was impatient. Still a good processor.

5 out of 5 eggsCPU is good

Pros: I have like 100 things open at once, don't notice any lag. didn't realize you could minimize a video game and do other things on a computer (my entire life) because I never had a CPU this good before.

Cons: It's not free?

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Powerful, cool and quiet, can be OC'd if your BIOS supports it.

Cons: Price could be less?

Other Thoughts: Shows as 8 CPUS in Win 7/8 or Linux. Nice low power draw and low clock speed at idle.
