Once again Intel sets the pace in competition for performance and power efficiency with the 3rd Generation Intel Core processors, codenamed Ivy Bridge. Built on the market-leading previous generation Sandy Bridge architecture, the state-of-the-art Ivy Bridge not only continues the excellence in all aspects with Intel Hyper-Threading technology, Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Smart Cache, but pushes the pace a step farther with groundbreaking 22nm 3D transistor technology, which delivers an unprecedented combination of performance and power efficiency, and a couple of key refinement. The built-in visual is another leap offering you enhanced media and graphics. The Ivy Bridge IGP also supports DirectX 11 and OpenCL 1.1 to deliver incredibly detailed gaming and better heterogeneous computing performance.

The Intel Core i5-3570K packs four cores with Turbo Boost 2.0 technology to deliver incredible PC and visual experiences for all of your favorite activities—whether you’re creating, sharing, exploring, or gaming. Its unlocked multiplier allows you to freely adjust the frequency when used with compatible motherboard, pushing the performance to a new level and pumping the max out of your investment.

  • newegg Intel 22nm 3-D Transistor The 3rd Generation Intel Core processors employ the world's first 3-D transistor manufactured at 22nm. Intel's 3-D Tri-Gate transistor uses three gates wrapped around the silicon channel in a 3-D structure, enabling an unprecedented combination of performance and energy efficiency, and ensuring that the pace of technology advancement consumers expect can continue for years to come.
  • newegg Evolved Graphics Built-in visual features such as the Intel Quick Sync Video 2.0 and Intel Clear Video HD Technology enable compelling user experiences across a wide range of intelligent systems. Whether your application involves medical imaging, video surveillance, or HD media playback, the 3rd generation Intel Core processors support smooth visuals, quick digital image downloads, high-density media processing, and synchronous video streams. The support for DirectX 11, OpenCL 1.1 and OpenGL 3.1 takes your gaming and computing experience to a brand new level.
  • newegg Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 Designed to increase performance of both multi-threaded and single-threaded workloads, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 allows the processor core to opportunistically and automatically run faster than its rated operating frequency/render clock if it is operating below power, temperature, and current limits. Furthermore, the processor can optimize both processor and Processor Graphics performance by managing power for the overall package, allowing an increase in the render core frequency and increased graphics performance for graphics intensive workloads.
  • newegg INTEL SMART CACHE This large last-level cache enables dynamic and efficient allocation of shared cache to all cores to match the needs of various applications for ultra-efficient data storage and manipulation.
  • newegg Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel AVX) Intel AVX is a new 256 bit instruction set extension to SSE and is designed for applications that are Floating Point (FP) intensive. Intel AVX improves performance due to wider vectors, new extensible syntax, and rich functionality. This results in better management of data and general purpose applications like image, audio/video processing, scientific simulations, financial analytics and 3D modeling and analysis.
  • newegg Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x) Increasing manageability, security, and flexibility in IT environments, virtualization technologies like hardware-assisted Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) combined with software-based virtualization solutions provide maximum system utilization by consolidating multiple environments into a single server or PC. By abstracting the software away from the underlying hardware, a world of new usage models opens up that reduce costs, increase management efficiency, strengthen security, while making your computing infrastructure more resilient in the event of a disaster.

3 out of 5 eggsas it stands Dec. 2014

Pros: Great cpu. Runs surprisingly cool - according to the mobo utility. Never goes over 53 C. Usually high 40s in 3d gaming. Idles high 20s with cooler such as Black Knight. It has no performance flaws and is faster in games than ANY current consumer grade AMD chip - I WAS an AMD fanboi in the day.

Cons: Try finding a nice socket 1155 mobo -especially mATX. They are all over-priced. The availability is going away. You can find some on eBai but that is risky business. Basically it's obsolete. It's been made that way by Intel due to their new CPUs not being backward compatible with earlier sockets - AMD gets high marks for that one.

Other Thoughts: If you have one you're using, keep it because the 4690K isn't much of an upgrade = waste of money. If you're building a new system, go with socket 1150 simply due to current cost and availability of quality mobos. I docked 2 eggs simply due to obsolescence.

5 out of 5 eggsA moster

Pros: Nothing else to say its a beast. I have it paired up with 8gb of ram and a 660ti (with other components as well) and this runs all modern games on ultra with little to no fps dips. The dips I have a prolly from my graphics card. BF4 with everything on ultra it gets a average 70 fps. The computer as a whole is very quick and responsive.

Cons: Not really a con but I used aftermarket thermal paste on mine. Do you self a favor and scrape that stuff that intel puts on there and get some arctic silver. My idle temps are 32c with stock cooling and never above 50 playing games for hours.

Other Thoughts: I think I get about 180 plus fps in csgo.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Great CPU

Pros: -Fast
-Quiet Heat Sink
-Graphics 4000 (don't use it though)
-Runs awesome on the ASUS LGA 1155 Intel Z77 board

Cons: -It's not a core i7 :)

Other Thoughts: I don't overclock my system. Will upgrade to i7 in the future for this board.

5 out of 5 eggsFunctional, long-lasting processor

Pros: The processor arrived on time, properly cased and protected. Installing it along with the provided stock fan and heatsink was a breeze (no pun intended), and from the first time the computer was turned on no issues were encountered. Windows 7 reported that clock speeds were the same as advertised, and Ubuntu builds run flawlessly on the processor as well.

As far as gaming goes, the processor was installed with 8G RAM and a GTX 670; TESV: Skyrim ran with Ultra graphics and graphical modifications with only minimal lag. No overheating was encountered, although the computer was never pushed to play the game in that state for more than an hour or so.

Cons: None to report in the two years of my ownership.

Other Thoughts: Simply for safety purposes, if you are planning on continuous heavy gaming on this processor, I would recomend a better heatsink than the stock; I have never had problems with the stock fan, but I am not a heavy gamer either. If I were planning on such usage, I would have taken more percautions in terms of cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W

Pros: Socket LG1155.

Install an i5-3570K in your DESKTOP - you can't beat it for a Socket LG1155 processor.

You might find a (technically) faster (LG1155) processor at a similar price but I doubt you will over notice a difference.

You can easily overclock the i5-3570K to out-perform much more expensive CPU's.

Run it at 4.20GHz or less and you shouldn't have to check the temperatures if you have a clean case and decent air-flow. (Run it faster than 4.20GHz and if you have a cooling issue it is easy to fix - primarily by upgrading your CPU cooler.)

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you think you need to upgrade from this processor then you should make it mean something. (A new motherboard & i7-5820K or better.)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU!

Pros: Great CPU, does everything and more that I ask of it. Gaming video editing, photo shop, streaming, its all good. Has headroom to O.C. if you need more power!

Cons: Stock fan sucks, used it for 2 days. Sounded like a jet engine, and temps where really high. Went for a all in one WC. Soo boss now!

Other Thoughts: The chip can run at a high temperature and still be in the safe zone, but wouldn't recommend using the stock fan. I would spend a little extra to keep your CPU cooler, on a aftermarket cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsAfter the first few hours

Pros: Is this even my computer still???... It's very FAST. Improved my gaming and application use TENFOLD

Cons: This post is only after a few hours use so does not have issues right now.

Other Thoughts: I'm very happy with this CPU, already I have played games on maxed out settings (GTX760 GFX CARD) along with this CPU. I also noticed a considerable amount of speed during boot up and use of applications such as Photoshop, Steam etc.
