5 out of 5 eggsCool running

Pros: This thing runs cooler than I do, literally!

Using Speccy, it shows running at 37'C, in a room that is 82'F. I am quite impressed.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I originally thought the shorty heat sink on it was a bit arrogant, but I certainly was wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU for a SFF gaming build

Pros: Ran Prime95 for several hours, and with all four cores loaded up the turbo stayed at around 3.2GHz (the "advertised" turbo under full load). Without a bunch of threads it does go up to 3.6GHz. Hottest I've seen it running is 55°C but that's rare. It runs every game I've thrown at it without a hitch.

Cons: None really. I would recommend replacing Intel's thermal paste with something like Silver 5 but that's just me being picky.

Other Thoughts: System specs:
Gigabyte GA-B85N-WIFI ITX motherboard
Powercolor Radeon R9 270 (OC'd to 1050/1500)
Crucial 1 x 8GB DDR3 1600 low profile
Crucial M500 240GB
Silverstone RVZ01
Silverstone 450W Bronze SFX PSU

5 out of 5 eggsNice Processor

Pros: Low TDP
Good for HTPC or Gaming

Cons: Cost?

Other Thoughts: This is the second Intel chip I have purchased this year since migrating from AMD for builds. The first was a 4670K.
This is a good chip, if you don't plan on over clocking it. The K processors are designed for OC'ing, this one, not so much.
It does work well in my HTPC, mid-level gaming rig however.

5 out of 5 eggsLittle but Powerful

Pros: Speedy little CPU
Low power (what I was looking for)
Quad Core
Fan seems quiet enough (HTPC setup)
PC boots up in under 12 seconds (with Bios splash-4-5 secs) Fresh isntall with all updates on windows - Added AVG install and now it's under 20 sec's...but that's software: SSD installed.

Cons: Speed could be faster, but then you wouldn't get as much energy effeciency.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a HTPC, as of right now the PC pulls around 30-50 watts (have a watt meter plug) on average. This is normal web browsing or video watching.
Haven't checked Games as I am going to add a video card to the system to test it out.
Setup: 30-50 watts average electic pull for HTPC
Fractal Node 605 HTPC case (x3 120mm x2 80mm Fans)
Samsung EVO 120GB SSD
Bluray Slim Drive
ECS B85H3-m(1.0) Mobo
1600 8G RAM (x2 4G sticks)

Will update if I get more info

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Low power, low cost quad core with high performance on tap (3.6Ghz) when needed.
No need for aftermarket cooler unless you're pegging the processor for hours at a time.

Cons: Limited overclocking due to locked multipier. But you knew that going into this purchase, didn't you? Just think of the 3.6Ghz turbo performance as free built-in overclocking ;)

Other Thoughts: Gets 7.6 on the cpu portion of Windows Experience Index.
Actually about 3% faster than my i5-3570K (not overclocked) in 7-zip benchmark (16677 mips vs. 16186 mips). If you're not interested in overclocking, this processor is probably the best bang for your buck, especially when you factor in power consumption and cool operation with stock cooler. The highest temps I've seen when running burn-in programs is around 65 C. Typically, it'll be closer to 45-55 C under load.

5 out of 5 eggsRocks on ASRock on Win2K12 Server

Pros: This CPU has been running my home server: Windows Server 2012 with a couple of other OSed on Hyper-V.
The CPU runs cool on 8GB of memory. No overclocking (I don't need it), no high temperatures, and just great response.
I researched Haswell CPU models fairly carefully, looking for a good fit for my home server needs. This came on top considering many aspects including core count, max memory, socket type, no HT, power, graphics, VT.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsFast, cool, quiet

Pros: Cool, around 30-35 C idle, around 55 C under load, not bad given it's inside a small mini-ITX case and that I'm using a stock cooler.

Quite fast, enormously faster than my old Core 2 Duo.

Low wattage, therefore less heat, ideal for small cases.

Cons: Locked multiplier, so cannot overclock, but I knew that before buying it, I don't want to overclock anyway, I just wanted a fast and cool cpu that wouldn't require an aftermarket cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm really happy with this CPU

Pros: It runs very cool while doing everything I need.

I use my PC for 3D, video, and gaming. For my previous couple of builds, I opted for faster/more expensive components that are overclockable. This was great, but over time I ended up being unhappy with the heat and noise, both at idle and at load.

This time I wanted to see how quiet I could go while keeping costs under $1000. I didn't want any hyper-threading, and decided to skip the overclocking this time since coming to the conclusion that it wasn't really as fun/rewarding as it used to be in the old days. I read reports that Haswell chips run hotter than Ivy Bridge, but also run cooler while idle. The latter seemed interesting, so I decided to try the i5 4570S, "S" for the 65Watt version.

I paired it with a low power, mid-range discrete GPU and put them on an Asrock h87 board with a good SSD and a 400W fanless PSU. I modded both CPU and GPU heatsinks with bigger, ultra-quiet fans and ran everything at stock speeds.

I gotta say, this is a new kind of joy. It's temp ranges from ~30C at idle to ~65C at full load torture test. The fans never go above 25% speed, and are barely audible. It may not be a hard-core gaming rig like we have at work, but it runs the latest games (Metro Last Light) at med settings very well and without moving much air.

Just as an experiment, I unplugged the CPU fan entirely, and the idle temp stabilized at 40C. Running an older game like Skyrim took this up to 50% load and fanless it stabilized at 47C. I then tried running a fanless torture test and it tool over 5 minutes to reach 85C. Never would have tried any of that with my previous machines...

Now I'm tempted to upgrade my GPU heat sink as well and see if I can have a completely passive gaming rig.

Pros: Perf/Power ratio along the entire use range. Scales down power use really well while still being able to turbo boost to 3.6 GHz for more demanding applications.

Cons: Cons: For what I wanted, none. The integrated graphics and drivers are much better than they were, but for my needs are still not good enough to replace a dedicated GPU.

Other Thoughts: Wish I could get a CPU nowadays without the stock heatsink/fan. Oh well... O hey, I forgot to plug my CPU fan back in...

5 out of 5 eggsHaswell 65W sweetness!

Pros: These CPU is really fast. It can turbo all cores to 3.6 Ghz!!
The integrated gpu is more than enough for the need of the office i bought it for. I get a 6.6 rating in windows 8 for both desktop graphics and gaming. Have not tried gaming on it yet though. Its also only 65W. Impressive peice of silicon!

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Replacing 10 old pentium 4 with this in an office. Needless to say everyone was blown away!
