4 out of 5 eggsgreat cpu

Pros: Great cpu, fast, easy to install.

Cons: Stock heatsink and fan aren't that great, but will get the job done if you don't plan on doing any overclocking.

Other Thoughts: Definitely a good unit, especially for the price. I would advise getting the 4690K instead if you're going for an i5, though.

5 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Pros: Fast. Has worked great with all games I have played with no lag. The 4th generation has great energy efficiency causing it to stay pretty cool. I still has the stock fan and never get above 65c - 70c on games like GTA.

Cons: Nothing really if you don't plan on getting a new fan the stock one can be kinda loud.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks but the stock cooler is hit or miss

Pros: Great CPU, easily overclocked, runs as advertised. One CPU runs Idle at 35C. Under a stress test (not over clocked) it reached 56C max. This is using the stock cooler and factory paste. The other CPU has issues with cooling, see cons.

Cons: Tl;Dr: Don't use the stock cooler.
I bought two of these CPU's at the same time and put each into the same boards, an ASUS Z97-M Plus. I used the stock coolers for both PC's. The first CPU runs idle at 35C with the included thermal paste. I stress tested that processor and the highest temp reached was 56C. Perfect. Second build runs idle at 45C with stock paste and blue screened for over temperature while installing an update which killed the OS. I removed the cooler, cleaned the paste off, which looked good on the processor, even coverage. I used some silver compound paste and re-installed. Now it runs 39 C at idle but quickly heats to over 90 C with any increased load, for example playing the atari version of Frogger in the browser. My cooling tower arrives on Monday and *should* fix the problem.

Other Thoughts: It's nice to have the stock coolers as a backup but you should never expect them to be very useful. I over looked the cooling towers when purchasing my parts this time around. I often felt that stock coolers were hit or miss and this cements that idea into my head. While it is possible I've installed the cooler incorrectly both times, I have built six rigs with after market coolers with zero issues and four PC's with stock coolers with two that worked and two that didn't despite repeated removal and replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive value

Pros: Impressive performance for price. I have a PCI SSD drive in my main system. This is just as fast for a fraction of the price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: On new mini-ITX, post and Windows 8.1 boot is done before monitor lights up, about 10 seconds!! (Gig H97N-WIFI and 4670K at 3.8 gHz.)

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU

Pros: Used this to build latest rig, have not been disappointed.. Runs steady at 4.0 and uses less power than last monster quad.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome i5 processor

Pros: I was skeptical about getting an i5 instead of an i7 for my gaming build, but I'm glad I did. When the 4670K is sufficiently cooled, it runs like a boss. You basically get the power of a high end i7 processor, just without hyperthreading, and also without the $400+ price tag. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Cons: None at all.....Seriously. This processor is great.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a great gaming CPU for a reasonable price, look no further.

5 out of 5 eggsGood For Gaming!

Pros: Overclocked! Best thing about this cpu is the option to overclock it, can sustainably run at 4.3Ghz in my setup, and have pushed it to 4.5Ghz with varying results.

Cons: Stock speeds.

Other Thoughts: I experienced worse game play then on a competitor's 2nd best 8 core ( at ~$75 less) ( stock speed comparison ). Though I couldn't get the competitors cpu to OC stably, and this nice intel cpu is made for OC'ing. I am a big multitasker on a computer, so this might not be the same for everyone in an experiential way. When OC'ed to 4.0+ghz, you will get the performance you're looking for in this cpu and it is more then capable of doing just that. After the OC, I have no regrets buying this CPU!

5 out of 5 eggsBest value gaming cpu

Pros: Awesome processor, much better than my old one. It can hold it's own against most games I play at fair quality with it's integrated graphics. Stays at a cool 28-51 degrees with my Zalman cooler. Mine isn't overclocked, and runs at a frequency of 3.8GHz

Cons: None found yet

Other Thoughts: No reason to buy anything higher than this for gaming, you probably won't notice a difference

5 out of 5 eggsWorld of Tanks Double FPS

Pros: I upgraded from a Phenomx4 that I had OC'ed to 4Ghz on air after being on a upgrade break for several years.

I thought I was doing ok, but I was wrong.

Most games are faster, but lame single-threaded games such as world of tanks, got a huge boost. Guess dev's don't care about AMD.

Anyway, using the same RAM and a new Mobo, and I am literrally getting 2x the framerate. I went from 60FPS to 120+FPS. I assumed my video card was holding me back, and I was wrong.

Cons: The latch mechanism scares the **** out of me, and didn't hook the first time five times I tried to latch the CPU. Eventually I accidentally got the CPU to lock down. Not even sure how I did it since my right brain figured out what was wrong and just took care of it. Thank you right brain.

Other Thoughts: CPU doesn't overheat on the stock cooler, so I guess the sky is the limit if I buy an aftermarket cooler, but... I'd have to pull my entire motherboard out, change the CPU mount and then reinstall. Probably not worth the work.
