5 out of 5 eggsGood For Gaming!

Pros: Overclocked! Best thing about this cpu is the option to overclock it, can sustainably run at 4.3Ghz in my setup, and have pushed it to 4.5Ghz with varying results.

Cons: Stock speeds.

Other Thoughts: I experienced worse game play then on a competitor's 2nd best 8 core ( at ~$75 less) ( stock speed comparison ). Though I couldn't get the competitors cpu to OC stably, and this nice intel cpu is made for OC'ing. I am a big multitasker on a computer, so this might not be the same for everyone in an experiential way. When OC'ed to 4.0+ghz, you will get the performance you're looking for in this cpu and it is more then capable of doing just that. After the OC, I have no regrets buying this CPU!

5 out of 5 eggsBest value gaming cpu

Pros: Awesome processor, much better than my old one. It can hold it's own against most games I play at fair quality with it's integrated graphics. Stays at a cool 28-51 degrees with my Zalman cooler. Mine isn't overclocked, and runs at a frequency of 3.8GHz

Cons: None found yet

Other Thoughts: No reason to buy anything higher than this for gaming, you probably won't notice a difference

5 out of 5 eggsWorld of Tanks Double FPS

Pros: I upgraded from a Phenomx4 that I had OC'ed to 4Ghz on air after being on a upgrade break for several years.

I thought I was doing ok, but I was wrong.

Most games are faster, but lame single-threaded games such as world of tanks, got a huge boost. Guess dev's don't care about AMD.

Anyway, using the same RAM and a new Mobo, and I am literrally getting 2x the framerate. I went from 60FPS to 120+FPS. I assumed my video card was holding me back, and I was wrong.

Cons: The latch mechanism scares the **** out of me, and didn't hook the first time five times I tried to latch the CPU. Eventually I accidentally got the CPU to lock down. Not even sure how I did it since my right brain figured out what was wrong and just took care of it. Thank you right brain.

Other Thoughts: CPU doesn't overheat on the stock cooler, so I guess the sky is the limit if I buy an aftermarket cooler, but... I'd have to pull my entire motherboard out, change the CPU mount and then reinstall. Probably not worth the work.

5 out of 5 eggsHuge upgrade from 6-year old system

Pros: Huge performance and nary a hiccup anywhere. It's fast, it's stable, and it runs cool and quiet.

My computer is very multipurpose. It functions as a home office PC and my gaming computer. I have a 27" 1440p monitor and a 21" 1080p monitor that is in portrait mode. I recently upgraded to a new Geforce GTX 970 and the results have been stunning.

Both Crysis 2 and Tomb Raider both cruise at 45-60FPS with no hiccups anywhere.

Cons: It runs a little warmer than I expected, but I chalk that up to poor airflow in my crammed case and possible misapplication of my heatsink. I re-used my old Cooler Master Hyper TX3 and I probably could have done a better job of cleaning it off.

Temps idle at about 40c and operate at about 60-65c under load. So nothing bad, just not as good as I was anticipating.

Other Thoughts: My new build replaced my aging AMD Phenom 9550 system from 2008. That computer performed admirably for 6 years, but it was time to move on.

I multi-task with tons of programs open at once and I game. This processor allows me to do both with no issues.

My system:
Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H
Core i5 4670K
CM Hyper TX3 Cooler
EVGA Geforce GTX 970 ACX G-Sync
16GB (2x 8gb) G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1866
250gb Samsung EVO 840 SSD
1TB WD Black 7200RPM
Lian-li PC-V354 Micro-ATX case

4 out of 5 eggsGood - but only 5% faster than my 2500k

Pros: Nice chip with mediocre integrated video.

Cons: Not really an upgrade from the Sandy Bridge era chips.

Other Thoughts: I was lucky enough to not buy this for me. This was for the mother in law's new computer, but while I had it sitting there, I benched it against my Sandy Bridge 2500k - and it was about the same. on average 3-5% was all you see out of the newer chip. That definitely made me happy with the old girl I already have, and see no reason to grab another one of these for myself.

5 out of 5 eggs4670k

Pros: everyone bashed this cpu for the TIM material, honestly it was just luck your cpu either ran well or horrible, the first one i got was horrible 75-80 c at stock clocks and was not stable, so i got a new cpu from warranty this one is epic 4.5ghz no problem with a reasonable 1.240 vcore and 4.6 at 1.265 vcore, if i had water cooling loop i could get 4.8-4.9 mabie even 5ghz if i felt like it but 4.5 is fine hell even 4.2 is good really if your gaming it dose not matter unless your gpu is horribly outdated the gpu is 10x more important in any game out today except mabie arma 2 and 3 so stop complaing about how its a bad overclocker get this over a 4690k and and get a asus z97 hero and call it a day or just wait and get broadwell or skylake or whatever its going to be called

Cons: first one i got was horrible no even stable out of the box stock 100% intel dropped the ball, the one i go from warranty may have been cherry picked because its well above average good cpu works great in all games bf4 does tax the cpu but it can still out preform a 8350 or 8370 especially with a beefy GPU like the 970 or 980 cpu will not bottle neck for sevral years i promise just remember 4 intel cores are still better then 8 amd cores at least right now

Other Thoughts: great cpu for the money i used to have a amd athlon 2 640 quad core which was seeing its age... not a bad cpu but it was defiantly time to upgrade

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Processor!

Pros: Just a fantastic processor. Coming from a 5 year old Q9550 to this is just an awesome upgrade. Highly recommended. Intel is the ONLY way to go, period.

Cons: Not one.

Other Thoughts: Have this paired with a new Gigabyte Z97X-SLI board and 8 gigs of G.Skill 1866 DDR3. Also using a CM Hyper 212 Plus; Works awesome. Have not even OC'd it yet and it is WAY fast :)
