5 out of 5 eggsWorth every penny

Pros: Runs extremely fast even at stock speeds, however this is a K processor so it is designated for those who want to over-clock, stock speeds mean nothing since you can scale it to whatever speed you like. I was able to get mine up to 4.4GHz at 1.23v voltage which is just insane!

Cons: Not much improvement coming from a Sandy Bridge i7 (i7 2600K), mostly because of lack of competition probably. Also doesn't over-clock as well as SB but it makes up for it by being 10-15% faster clock-for-clock, nonetheless most SBs can over-clock a lot further than the average Haswell can

Other Thoughts: If you're planning on spending anywhere past $180 for a processor, I totally recommend steering away from AMD and just looking at the Intel options only. Clock-for-clock Intel is just way faster, AMD's current generation of FX processors are now only catching up to Sandy Bridge processors meanwhile Intel is just sitting pretty making 10% improvements to the original platform that launched them into an overclocker's market dream success.

The K series is still, up to this day, worth every penny. It is worth way more than it's asking price and has ultimately cannibalized what was once the whole selling point of the Extreme series line (now it just relegates to it being the higher-performance and higher-binned four or six-core variants of the current generation i7).

Nonetheless for the asking price you can't ask for any better. You can go for the i7 variant but they are essentially the same chip with the i5 having 2M less cache and no HyperThreading. For video gaming HT almost never contributes to any increase in performance and the 6M cache is already more than enough, so it is better to go with the i5 and put the extra money you save towards a better GPU. Nonetheless if you have money to spend on an i7, there is no harm in getting that too but it is not as big of a performance difference as the name nomenclature suggest.

5 out of 5 eggsIts a 4670K. of course its awesome

Pros: Its a beast. you already know that and its why you are looking at it. Sure you could pay the extra 100 bucks to get those 4 other cores that the I-7 offers you on the hopes that soon a game or two will use them but.....I'd rather spend that on the video card.

Cons: None. its quick, and with a cheap CPU cooler setup it gets stupid fast. I am sad that it does not produce delicious Heineken while im using it.

5 out of 5 eggs4670k is a monster

Pros: -high performance
-overclockable
-Intel
-high quality

..need i say more?

Cons: None, although i wish i can take it out of the motherboard and snuggle with it every night

Other Thoughts: I bought this processor about two months ago from newegg and couldn't be happpier with it. I upgraded to the intel 4670k from an AMD phenom2 x4 3.4ghz and at stock speeds the Intel processor has twice the performance not to mention the stable 4.0ghz OC without touching the voltage. Have it overclocked at 4.4ghz stable with 1.200 voltage boost

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Processor

Pros: Yea its not an i-7 but with a solid graphics card the shortfalls are made up. I play wow/starcraft and those have minor performance issue with HT so I wasn't gonna spend another hundred bucks for something I would disable. True quad core, LGA1150

Cons: none really, doesn't have the absolute throughput of an I-7 but your not buying this for that.

Other Thoughts: I;m running an ASUS Z97-A board and am getting a 4.1 GHz OC on all cores using a Noctura CPU cooler. With ASUSes software you can actually set the OC based on applications so I actually under clocked it for idle and web surfing to 2.2ghz and runs at ambient room temp and when I start say watchdogs or WOW it kicks up to 4.1 and have yet to see it get over 55C.

5 out of 5 eggsgood processor

Pros: fast and trouble free

Cons: stock CPU fan (mediocre )

Other Thoughts: use a Noctua CPU ( Noctua NH-U12S 120x120x25) cooler and temperature have been ease.

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Fast, no problem at all
package include a fan with default thermal paste. Will see in future if update is needed

Cons: Fan connector can be tricky if you go to fast

Other Thoughts: used with ASUS H87M-E. Didn't try any overclocking for now

4 out of 5 eggsVery good CPU

Pros: - The speed is crazy compared to my old E8400
- Turbo boost is nice to have. It doesn't effect temperature all that much
- Plays games flawlessly
- Rarely at 100% CPU load (Only happens sometimes during rendering)

Cons: - Stock cooler BARELY gets by, get an after market one even if all you do is browse websites
- Can get very hot (I hit 90C when rendering even with a ghetto window cooler fan setup, after market heat sink, and no turbo boost)

Other Thoughts: I might have got a bad CPU out of the group, but man I can do things so much faster around my computer now. Previously owning an E8400, I might be a bit biased but it's a great (hot) processor!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat processor

Pros: Pros: very little problems with this processor,as it runs great. i would highly recommend this to anyone.

Cons: Cons: The heat. The stock CPU cooler is in no way prepared for this monster. It can hold out for half a year maybe but you'll eventually have to upgrade as I'm doing now.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST

Pros: Very fast. Decent price. Doesn't run hot (at least not with a Corsair H110...)

Cons: Very odd lottery of overclocking potential. No one knows if they will get a 4.2 OC or a 4.8 OC until they fire it up and try. Need serious cooling to OC one of these (from what I've read...)

Other Thoughts: The one I got turned out to be a decent mid-range overclocker as I was able to get 4.4GHz stable with Gskill Sniper memory at 1866. Never had temperature issues, just flat out instability above 4.4 GHZ, but hey: That's still almost a 30% OC! Had to push cpu voltage up to 1.295 -just under the 1.3v ceiling where Haswell starts to really heat up. Memory rated for 1866 @ 1.5v needed a boost to 1.52 volts to stay stable but it has been running 24/7 like this for almost a week now. I do have an H110 mounted in the top of my Corsair C70, pulling air through the radiator and exhausting out the top of my case. Glad I got that because temps have been very good. Also have four intake fans (2 front, 2 bottom) and one rear exhaust which give the C70 great positive air pressure (side panel vents taped up with clear packing tape.) At stock clocks idle temps are in the mid 20s, and overclocked to 4.4 running benchmarks temps never go over 80c. That's a win as far as I'm concerned.
System:
Corsair C70
ASUS Z87-Pro (V Edition)
i5 4670K
8GB G-Skill Sniper 1866
Sandisk Extreme 240GB SSD
MSI R9 270X OC Gaming

I replaced a Core2 Duo e6870 (Couldn't even get a 10% OC with that) and am very pleased with the Haswell i5, especially since the ASUS MB can access all of its overclocking potential and tweak every little thing the processor has to offer (which is a lot.) All games so far are on max or ultra graphics settings. This processor compliments a good graphics card very nicely.
