5 out of 5 eggsExcellent CPU for audio workstation

Pros: Great combination of speed and reasonable temperature. Stays cool with the stock Intel heat sink and fan. Has run almost nonstop for 18 months, no hiccups or outages.

Cons: None that I can think of, after 18 months of continuous operation.

Other Thoughts: I built a computer for the dedicated purpose of being an audio workstation in a home recording studio. Silence is golden. So I really love this CPU because it runs relatively cool and the stock Intel cooler that came with it is more than capable of keeping it within acceptable temp ranges. This is a plus because I didn't have to spring for a heavy-duty (read: noisy) cooling system.

Running mid-sized audio projects in Reaper with 20-30 audio tracks, virtual instruments, VST plugins, the whole shebang...I've yet to make this CPU even break a sweat. Highly recommended for a quiet studio workstation.

5 out of 5 eggsNice CPU

Pros: Fast quad core CPU.

Cons: Pricey

Other Thoughts: OK, so I replaced the Intel i5 Haswell 3.4GHz with this i7 4770 and my Windows processor score actually went down slightly! I really haven't noticed much difference either, except multitasking seems to run a touch faster and smoother. I do not game much but use Photoshop a lot so maybe I will see a difference there...time will tell. If you do not have the money, there really is no reason to upgrade from the i5.

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Low Power Consumption
Runs Cool

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Upgraded to this to run MSFlightSim (FSX). Huge improvement, especially with complicated 3rd party sims (PMDG 777). I'm able to use the stock INTEL fan and it still runs cool. This, combined with my 750Ti GPU, leaves me with plenty of power left over.

4 out of 5 eggsHot and fast

Pros: This CPU is fast. Plus, the 4-core/8-way processing allows for some great multitasking. I got this for my new, compact, gaming build.

Cons: I came from an i5 core that usually didn't reach temperatures above 40 or 50 degrees Celsius. This thing reaches 65-70 when I'm gaming (granted I have a compact case that is more prone to collect heat). You'll definitely want after-market cooling for this CPU.
