5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding CPU

Pros: As with any Intel CPU, this is a breeze to install. If you're looking to run at stock CPU speed, the included fan works perfectly. This thing is fast and leads the way on many benchmarks. Whether you're looking for basic computing or gaming, this CPU will lay down some chaos (in a good way) for you.

Cons: This processor runs fine at stock speed. But if you're looking to overclock, definitely consider a CPU cooler because it does get toasty.

Other Thoughts: I'm not a big fan of stock CPU fans. They tend to wear out quick, and if you live in a dusty environment they get nice and clogged up easily. I highly recommend a CPU cooler (Zalman coolers are phenomenal coolers!) Even if you're looking for stock speed, these will keep your CPU nice and cool.

5 out of 5 eggsSo easy to overclock

Pros: Plug in and go. Change the multiplier for easy overclocking with small voltage tweaks. i7 architecture may not overclock as high as other Intel chips, like the i5, but with 16gb of DDR3-1600 ram and this CPU, I can convert movies in half the time as my old i7-920. Less power draw, superior instruction sets and an unlocked multiplier makes this CPU a winner. I run three to four VPM's at a time in Win7 Ultimate. This could easily make my i7-920 @ 3.2GHz bog down even though I had 24GB of Ram in triple channel. With less ram, I'm sitting at 4.2GHz with a simple multiplier and voltage tweak and not having any issues. Loving this CPU. I don't need higher GHz, what I need is STABLE and reliable higher GHz with information integrity.

Cons: If you're looking for the highest overclocks, look to the i5 series. However, I prefer data integrity over GHz while still pushing the CPU.

Other Thoughts: A no brainer for a user of my type.

5 out of 5 eggsMORE FOR LESS

Pros: Low wattage, easy overclocking, great chip, easy to install, Hyper threading makes it 8 cores.

Cons: not cheaper

Other Thoughts: This is one of the number one chips on the market as of this date in 2014. The overclocking potential is favored at 4.5 ghz for a good chip.. Even higher if you get a golden.

5 out of 5 eggsStrong Processor

Pros: This processor is very fast, not just for the 3.5ghz speed but also it's architecture. Having upgraded from a first-generation i7-920 2.4ghz, as you would expect it was a world of difference. While it has a very slight edge over a 'regular' 4770 out of the box (albeit with higher power usage and temperature), it is much better suited to overclocking if that's your need.

Cons: As others have pointed out, this is not really a con of the processor but the heatsink+fan that comes with it - This thing runs quite hot even without overclock which is normal for the K itself, however you will _need_ a better cooler for the chip to be reliable. I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and that does the trick perfectly.

Other Thoughts: By trade, I do 3D visualization and animation via 3ds-max & Vray both at work and home. Although I had a badly outdated processor on this machine before, my render times have been cut by more than half when rendering on CPU. It also devours heavy-running games like a boss.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST

Pros: Very fast stock speeds
Easy to setup a moderate OC
Reliable
Did I mention this CPU is FAST?!?!

Cons: Doesn't OC as well as some of the previous i7's such as the 3770k
Expensive
Can run hot

Other Thoughts: I'm running this beast at 4.4GHz with an Enermax ETS-T40-BK with an extra 120mm fan in push/pull configuration. Never goes over 72° C, Intel lists anything under 90° to be safe with 105° being where the CPU starts to throttle. So it's running relatively cool. I could push it harder but I have no reason to seeing that this CPU is very fast even at stock speeds.

Running this with an ASROCK extreme4 Z87 Mobo. Overall I have been extremely happy with this chip, it's my first Intel system in the last 10 years and after having this chip I think I will stick with Intel for the future. AMD makes the best value chips, but if you can afford something like this i7 then it's worth it, in my opinion. Great chip!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat consumer level processor

Pros: -Low power consumption
-4 cores - 8 threads
-Outstanding performace
-Easily overclockable through ASUS ROG UEFI
-Reached 4.6Ghz at 1.28V Stable
-Thermals are quite low for a 4770K, AIDA64 stress test for 4 hours, peak temperature was at 74C at 100% usage obviously.

Cons: None so far, this thing is really fast.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this product to anyone looking for good processing performance rendering videos or content creation, while for gaming, just get a 4670K.
