5 out of 5 eggsOh So Fast

Pros: It has been said before, but will be said again: this thing is fast. Handles my multiple virtual linux machines (pfsense, DNS/DHCP, OpenVPN, VoIP, and Kali testbed) like they were not even there.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Purchased as a combo with the SuperMicro MBD-X10SAE-O motherboard. Running with 16 GB of Kingston KVR16E11/8I.

With this chip I have officially abandoned AMD. It was a good run, but you just can't compete with this on any level. You still have Xbox and PlayStation. Maybe some day you'll rise again, but not today and not tomorrow. Farewell!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Fast

Pros: Very Fast

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I upgrade from a 3.0 GHz Core2 Quad. So this chip adds 4 new threads and lots of speed. I also expanded my memory from 16GB to 32GB so I am sure that helps a little.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I got this processor with a Gigabyte board for a gaming computer. First computer I've built in a couple years. I put the processor in, added the rest of the components, turned it on and it worked first time. I have since run prime 95, several graphics benchmarks such as 3d mark, and Heaven's. This processor performs as it should, and operates exactly as specified.

Cons: Price. This is price wise a +50$ version of the i7-4770K, but has the virtualization component and no capacity for overclocking. I find server/workstation components work better so, that's what i use, but if you don't want the virtualization the equivalent i7 is cheaper.

Other Thoughts: The use of a xeon processor means that i could someday use ECC ram, but the prices of the ram make that unlikely unless a great deal is found. I have owned this processor for ~6 months at the time of this review, it has been running nearly the entire time, and i am happy with the purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsWorkhorse

Pros: More than twice the speed of the i5-2400 it just replaced, this is now my main processor for my Linux workstation running on a SuperMicro X10SAE board with 2 sticks of Kingston ECC ram KVR16E11/8I.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Intel makes the best processors, period.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None

Cons: DOA, RMA, $400 and it isn't even a paperweight

Other Thoughts: I had my whole rig set up and ... turned it on and ... nothing. Tried to RMA the CPU but NewEgg said it wasn't eligible. I guess I had to install it the same day it arrived. I replaced the CPU from a local retailer and now I'm happy. Except that now I have to warranty the CPU and figure out what to do with the refurbished part. Not happy with NewEgg.
