5 out of 5 eggsI mean...It's Intel

Pros: Price vs I7. Server build so no need to overclock. Security features. Compatible to C226.

Cons: Has none.

Other Thoughts: Haswell. Need I say more? This processor is IMO the best value on the market today for a home or SMB server.

4 out of 5 eggsCrummy cu cooler

Pros: Fast 4 core Xeon at a decent price.

Cons: The fan is too small, load the CPU up and the machine check log starts reprting overheats. Cooler mounting system is flimsy, and even Intel says use once and then throw it away.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and buy a good cpu cooler when you buy this chip.

BTW, I notice the mounting holes are a tiny bit smaller than an E5 cooler, so an Intel stock E5 cooler will not work. Be sure your replacement cooler really is LGA 1150 compatible.

5 out of 5 eggsYes, P4600 graphics works fine........

Pros: -Great price
-Better deal than equivalent i7
-Slightly better graphics over i3/i5/i7
-Quiet stock heatsink/fan
-Performance is on par to the i7-4770 non K.
-Got a good one.

Cons: -Locked
-No overclocking
-No graphics drivers readily available. Intel makes you "consult your sever manufacture". Ha...I built it myself.

Other Thoughts: Overall I was concerned about no graphics support. However the Asus Z87 Motherboard CD contained an Intel version that works just fine. There is one more on windows update. Works just fine with Win7x64.

Got a decent one, full load on Prime95 the cores run in the upper 70's C. Quite happy.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Equivalent in performance to a 4770 while being less expensive.
All the typical Xeon features such as ECC support, virtualization technology.
Idle temp is low compared to other processors I've owned, just 15-20 Fahrenheit above ambient room temperature.
New AVX instruction set made a noticeable difference in transcoding times.

Cons: Intel's integrated HD graphics are still behind AMD's current "budget" offerings. IGPU Linux support did exist but game performance was far below win7's. This is not Intel's fault IMO and it may change in the future, just stating my experience with games and openCL benchmarks.
Not the best $/performance choice for homelabs, thanks to having only 4 physical cores but I needed another Intel box.

Other Thoughts: The stock HS and fan combo is completely capable at cooling duties while the CPU is under a full load. However while doing so it becomes loud enough to to be a distraction in a quiet room.

5 out of 5 eggsGood processor to get if no overclocking is needed

Pros: Supposedly Xeon quality, actually cheaper than all 4th gen Core i7 with at most 0.1GHz deficit of either base/turbo frequency; perfect choice if no overclocking is involved. Motherboard can still do all-core turbo.

Cons: The included Intel HD P4600 graphic driver can be a bit tricky to find-you get those from those drive download sites except for Intel directly, although Windows 8.1 x64 can recognize it right away. Also I cannot get QuickSync to work yet with concurrent discrete GPU (both were enabled and seen by the system), which can be a driver issue as many online forums have relevant posts about this problem too.

Other Thoughts: For those of you who wondered (I couldn't find a definitive answer online before): this processor does come with a low-profile stock cooler, which is actually low-profile (<65 mm clearance) which would have fit into the case of my choice fine, although I planned to get the Zalman cooler anyways.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Processor!

Pros: - Great for a Workstation or Server alike
- Runs cool and Quiet all
- Requires very little power to get the job done
- Easy installation

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: I loved installing this. This was my first Intel Board, and I was very questionable about how the installation would differ from AMD products. May I say, it was an absolute BREEZE to install this socket type.

Just had to snap things down, and didn't even need to be conscious of the pins on the motherboard!

5 out of 5 eggsupdate on the 1st review

Pros: put this bad boy in my system with the gigabyte board, worked perfectly. The board was rev. 1.1 so it had the f7 bios on the gigabyte site which made it easiier. Anyhow, this scores a 8.3 on the windows 8.1 wei. On the web, there are free gui wei programs that give you back the wei in windows 8.1. Put it this way, a 3770k at 3.5 ghz scores 8.2.

Cons: One, don't use the normal 4th gen core intel graphics drivers for this cpu. It uses a slightly different gou in the P4600, not the 4600 that core series haswell cpu's use. For windows 8.1, it puts in a windows update driver dated dec. 18, 2013. In other words, you will have to search the web (I think the latest download out there for p4600 igpu is 3222, windows update is something like 3979) for your intel graphics driver if you don't want to use the windows update driver as the intel download center when searching out this processor does not have graphics drivers for this xeon cpu. And you can;t use the mothberboard manufactuer's drivers etiher as they are for haswell core series cpu's with igpu's. PITA for the simple desktop user looking to save a buck with a fast cpu with a igpu.

Other Thoughts: best bang for the buck after reasearching the haswell core i7 vs. the haswell xeon cpu. Like I said in my 1st review, the xeon is a 4770 at $20 cheaper. in other words, It's a best bang especially for thoise who don't overclock.

5 out of 5 eggsbest buy for haswell

Pros: was looking at the cpu support for the board I wanted to buy (gigabyte z87x-ud3h) and noticed xeon cpu's in the supported area. Did some research and found out this is 4770 (non-k) on steroids. and it's $20 cheaper than the 4770! Has three features you will love. One, is fast access memory for the igpu, mixed memory for the motherboard it's using (for instance, you can populate 2x4 and then add 2x8 gb for example to make 12gb if you want to save money, and ecc ram ability to add ecc memory. (remember ecc means it's checks the ram for errors but comes at a price premium). Can't wait to buy this tomorrow morning!

Cons: None. I don't overclock period so K processors aren't a necessity.

Other Thoughts: make sure to check your mb cpu support before buying this just you don't get stuck doing a working RMA with possible restocking fees.

5 out of 5 eggs4770 for less

Pros: Fast, I got the e3-1245 because it was cheaper than the 4770(non-k) and because it supports ecc if I repurpose it later on.

Work perfect with my ASRock Z87M OC Formula &
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2x8gb) 2400mhz ddr3
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus, Idle's @26-30C

Cons: None, worked perfectly

Other Thoughts: Also good if your not overclocking for the VT-d support

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Processor

Pros: Extremely fast. Cold boots a Windows 8.1 machine in 15 seconds. Restarts the same machine in 21 seconds. This is essentially the i7-4770 in Xeon packaging but is $30-50 cheaper and supports ECC/Registered memory. Works well with my Asrock Z87 Fatal1ty MB.

Cons: Stock heat-sink is somewhat loud.

Other Thoughts: I came from a machine running an Intel Q6600 so everything is amazingly fast to me right now.
