5 out of 5 eggsIntel I7-4930K

Pros: Excellent CPU, does all they say and more too, great to overclock also. Paid lot less that what they are asking for it now, can't figure out why they raised the price like they did, supply & demand isn't it, you can pick them up for less from other sites. Like I said you can overclock it to he** and back, I have an ASUS Rampage 4 Black Edition motherboard, great motherboard for overclocking too. No problem to 4.5, just set it up on MB and let it run, eased up to 4.6 by tweaking it, up to 4.7 more tweaking, 4.8 I thought would be it, not so fast. I have 2 motherboards and 2 CPU exactly alike so why not more tweaking and some disappointments but finally 4.9 stable too, I was draining some water from water-cooling system to add ice water back to help the temperature. I stopped there for a day or two to allow it to cool down completely while a friend an myself looked over what I had tweaked, I wanted 5.0 if possible, during that time I had dropped it back to 4.2 while we went over everything. I had seem in a couple of overclocking competitions where a few others had reached 5.0, so we went for it, I got to admit I was worried about blowing it and we had plenty of failures to the point of almost giving up, but finally we made it 5.0 and stable too. This is a super CPU really, I can't go into details because Intel would flip out, since then I've seen a few guys reach higher, but 5.0 was enough for me. I normally run them both in 4.1 to 4.5 and never have tried to do it again.

Cons: Cons, maybe price is to high but nothing about the working of the CPU would ever be considered a con.

Other Thoughts: Got the money, this is it, works great with gaming or spread sheets. I got 64 GB of Ram that works great with it @ 2133. Just a wonderful little CPU, never a bump on either machine no matter what I'm running. It's like give me more is that the best you can do, make my day. There are faster CPUs out there I know, but this is a dependable little machine that plays well with others too. Since I reworked my water-cooling system and changed out my fans from the stock ones that came with the case to better ones has made a 7 to 10 degree drop in temperature a cross the board.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellant Processor

Pros: Works very well on a Asus X79 Deluxe Motherboard. Rock solid stable at 4.8 mhz. Running 32 meg of high spec memory in quad and a H110 water cooler. Handles anything that I can throw at it although I am not a game player. I use Photoshop for image work and even with extremely large images with many layers and high resolution it works very quickly. Great for video processing and editing as well as audio processing and editing. The Asus X79 Deluxe motherboard was updated for the Ivy Bridge processors so it handles memory very well. All in all I think I will stick with this processor until something much better comes along. The generation 6 processors just do not have enough for me to consider an upgrade. Very happy with this product.. Aloha from Maui

Cons: For me I have no cons . Just give it the right cooling, memory and power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsDoesn't get any better than this

Pros: -Large cache
-Latest Instruction sets
-Overclockable/Unlocked Multiplier
-Powerhouse performance
-Workstation grade (Awesome for rendering)
-PCI-E 3.0 support

Cons: -More power hungry than SB-E

Other Thoughts: Have had for over a year, no issues whatsoever, upgraded from a 3930K to this and couldn't have been happier. Works great anywhere from Maya to today's games. I wouldn't recommend this as a buy for strictly gamers as it's more of a workstation chip but nonetheless it can handle whatever workload you throw at it.

5 out of 5 eggs4.7 Ghz, all C-State power savings.

Pros: 4.7 Ghz @ 1.28V, all C-States enabled for maximum power savings. Very very happy with my chip.

Cons: Price. I originally paid $499 for mine 1.5 years ago which I thought was too high then.

Other Thoughts: A lot of people complain that the Ivy Bridge-Es don't clock as high as the SB-E versions. But, the IB-E makes up for the loss in clock with higher performance - so it evens out actually. My SB-E went to 5.0Ghz with my setup. My 4930k goes to 4.7 Ghz. The difference is I have enabled full C-States for all power saving features! I also am on 166 Mhz FSB Bootstrapped! Never, NEVER could I do that with the SB-E. This yields CPU passmark scores 10% higher than my 5.0 Ghz SB-E. So yes, I'll take my 4.7 Ghz ALL DAY LONG. I can go to 4.8, but with dangerously high voltage and disabling most power savings. I have got 4.9 stable at a voltage I will not post publicaly in fear of Intel voiding the warranty on my entire house.

Pros: 40 PCI Express Lanes. Runs Cool With Corsair H110...Windows Experience Rates It at 7.8 Overclocks To 4.8 with Asus X79 Deluxe. Very Fast Chip

Cons: "There Are No Cons For This Chip"

Other Thoughts: All The Hardware In This Build Gets A Windows Experience Index Rating Of 7.9 Except This CPU.. My Quad - Intel 2700k 3.5 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Gets A 7.8 Too ($350.00). It Makes Me Wonder What I Have To Spend On A Intel Processor To Get A 7.9.... $1000.00 +usd?

Memory 7.9 - G.Skill DDR3 1600 16GBs 2x8GBd

5 out of 5 eggsIts a beast

Pros: - Very powerful

Cons: - Runs HOT

Other Thoughts: This chip is a beast, as expected. Blows a lot of Xeons out of the water.

One think to consider is your cooling solution. The 6-core chips run hotter than your quad cores. I suspect most people building on this chip are already doing this but this chip runs hot.

On an H80i it idles in Windows around 35C and only ever seems to dip in to the 20s if the monitor is off and the PC is doing NOTHING. As soon as you launch an app it will spike a couple cores to 40.

Put it under load with a Prime95 blend test and it will reach 70 a couple times during the test but mostly stays mid-high 60s. Put it under a small FFT test and its in the 70s.

On an H100i I only see a few degrees difference but it is better.

Also, some chips seem better than others, but only by a few degrees. Its a bit of a crapshoot.

Overall, if you actually need the cores & threads, its a fantastic chip. You can pick it up for under $500 once in a while too.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: This is an AMAZING processor! It has a lot of power, and is extremely wonderful for HEAVY multitasking, and running heavy games at the same time.

Cons: No cons from me!

Other Thoughts: If you are running out of processor power, this is a very nice upgrade! Most of the time i don't use more than 30% of its power, but when I do need the power, it is always ready to blow away applications I throw at it! :D

5 out of 5 eggsmy first hex core

Pros: Six cores, hyperthreading, unlocked and 40 lanes available for PCIe. I got this on sale on black friday weekend. It's part of a major upgrade for my gaming rig. I now can enjoy true PCIe 3.0 SLI @ 16/16 and a physx card also at PCIe 3.0 x 8. I've noticed quicker boot times and faster load times and of course about 10-20 more fps in 4k(now avg 40-60 fps) and near solid 120-200 fps in 1080p with most nvidia settings max'ed. My previous CPU was a 2600k on a Z68. I have it OC'd to 4.18 and may push it farther but with 6 cores I doubt its really needed. I know the v3's are out but the increased cost of ddr4 seemed to costly when I was able to reuse my previous memory for this.

Cons: Still pricy but you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: HAF 932 Blue
Gigabyte X79 UD3 LGA2011
Hyper 212 EVO cooler
I7 4930k oc'd to a gentle 4.18 stable holding at 42c
16GB 1333mhz crucial xms
2 Gigabyte g1 oc 970's in SLI
1 EVGA SC GTX 780 dedicated physx
Corsair 1200 ATX
Intel 520 SSD for the OS on SATA III
5 Assorted HD'S on SATA III
2 HD's on SATA II

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Dependable, overclockable, 12 treads

Cons: Intel 8 core is out now( today's date is 11/20/2014) , and this is still just under $600 -over priced IMO! :(

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from i7-3820 to this one almost a year ago to get better rendering times in C4D and to my disappointment, those 2 extra cores (4 threads) didn't really do, that much difference. But on the good side, my last render took 74 hours and this thing was running at 100% maxed out no problems what so ever. Unless bad storm cuts of your power down, this chip will not let you down.
