5 out of 5 eggsMaster of Sub-$300 Quad CPUs

Pros: No complaints here. Overclocking this this was outstanding. I managed to get it to dam well near 5Ghz. But sense I'm new to that idea, I must have done something that wasn't really recommended, but still 5Ghz!

Cons: None unless you count heating up just a bit much. For me, it was an issue with the cooler I had, but does this CPU heat up more than the average one or is it just me.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Processor

Pros: Bought this processor for my first build after doing a lot of research. Not only does it allow me to do everything I want to now, but will allow me to do everything I need to do in the future as well. Amazing product.

Cons: Might be a little unnecessary for me to have this processor, but well worth every penny.

Other Thoughts: It's a little pricey but well worth the money. I haven't had a single problem with this processor in anything that I have done. It's a true beast for the price you pay.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome cpu

Pros: Great cpu. Oc'ed to 4.5 no problem on stock voltage. Has run prime95 for more then 24hrs with out any issues. idles between 30°c and 35°c max load hasn't gone above 50°c. Havnt seen it stress out while multitasking gaming, movies, etc all running at one at once.

Cons: Can't think of any. For a gaming pc this cpu has more then enough power.

Other Thoughts: Finally decided to upgrade from my old evga 780i mobo running a q6600@3.2 with 4gb of ram. To a RIVBE paired with 16gb of g.skill ripjaws z and a 4820k@4.5. The change was night and day. Runs like a champ and looks good doing it! I like playing custom matches of sc2 with a unit supply limit of 1000. This creates major issues when you have 4 to 8 full army's meeting in the center of the map to duke it out in full 1080p with all settings maxed. With my old system it would bog down and show a new frame every 3-4 seconds. With my new set up i can watch the whole thing unfold in real time with frame going no lower then 30fps using the same gtx 770 I had in both systems. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsFor what I do it more than does the trick..

Pros: Great stock clock speed.
Runs quad channel memory.
Bigger L3 Cache than than the LGA 1150 so far.
40 lane PCI express bandwidth.
The biggest plus is it's unlock and has a soldered on die rather than a thermal paste in between the casing and the chip which keeps it cooler so it lasts longer even slightly overclocked.

Cons: 130 watts, but not really a con see other thoughts.
The motherboards tend to be very expensive.
The I7 5820K just came out and is much better at the same price.
2011 socket is kind of dead now, but if I can find a I7 49030k on clearance I'll be ok, because the extreme is an extreme ripoff with the new I7 Es.

Other Thoughts: I had an I7 2600k for almost 3 years and I was getting ready to upgrade, but my CPU blow out before I could slowly save money to get a better system. I had a choice between this CPU and the 4790k, I picked this one because of the soldered on die rather than the thermal paste so I could run this for a while without potential heat issues when overclocking. I already had a quad channel memory kit, so I needed to get a motherboard, a better case, the cpu and a new video card(which I was going to get regardless). I got lucky because I got this cpu through another vendor at a much cheaper price and the motherboard I got a Gigabyte X79-UP4 for $89 as well since the motherboard I got from the other place was an open box at that price and they didn't check for defective pins so they gave me a new one for the same price. If my cpu didn't blow out I would of went with the new I7 5000 series instead, but since I needed something fast since I do a lot of audio/video rendering for the price and what I needed it for I don't regret it. You'd think that 130 watt top out would use a lot of power. Not really. At idle with the motherboard I got it uses a lot less wattage and when I overclocked this thing to 4.3ghz I didn't have to bump up the voltage one bit and with the Corsair H100i system my temperatures idle around 32c and never go above 58c under load.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Intel I've owned

Pros: I decided it was time to build myself own computer for the first time and my friends were telling me 4770K but I figured I'd try something different and wow....I've only messed with it a little and am overclocked to 4.6 and that's enough for me I love this processor.

Cons: none that I can think of
