5 out of 5 eggsLow Power Consumption

Pros: I coulda got an AMD for much cheaper with similar performance, BUT, I would have had to upgrade my power supply to a much larger unit.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: As it stands, I am running a gaming rig with an nVidia 980Ti video card, and it hums along just fine with a 500W power supply.

I could not have done this if I went with the less-expensive AMD processor and AMD Devil13 video card.

AMD needs to up its game and get down to the same trace size on its CPU's and GPU's as intel and nVidia. As they sit, the guzzle power like a toaster, and they lost my sales directly because of this.

I like the idea of having a monster computer with a big power supply, but, I prefer having an efficient computer that is faster and doesn't act like a space heater.

I'm kind of an AMD fan, but the real world set in eventually, and you have to go with what works. I'm rooting for you, AMD, but I'm choosing Intel.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This thing is a beast! Bought it to replace my AMD CPU after it burned up, and I have been more than pleased with the performance.
I didn't buy the K edition since I have no intention to overclock.
I love this CPU and will not be needing an upgrade for several years.

Cons: Stock heat sink is garbage. Buy an after market one. (I purchased a Hyper 212 evo).

Apart from the heat sink no cons.

Other Thoughts: I used to use AMD products since the value was so much better, but this time I bit the bullet and spent extra, and the difference is night and day. I wish I would have switched to Intel sooner because i have never had a PC faster than this one now.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, it blew away my old Intel Core 2 Duo quad core processor, which I thought was fast until this came around.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The stock cooler sucks, I purchased a Corsair Hydro Series H50 and it hardly ever gets above 30C under load.

5 out of 5 eggsBrutal performance.. Blown away..!

Pros: I moved up the chain and replaced my video production machine from a Q9650 to this!! Wow! infinitely faster in every way. I used go make coffee every time I did a final render.. Now its a few minutes!! And there's less heat billowing out from under the desk!!

If you want to reduce frustration, do away with constant crashes.. and get the job done.. Worth the extra $$'s

Cons: None!

5 out of 5 eggsThe right processor for my build

Pros: Plays well with others. No issues so far. Plenty fast. I wanted a computer for the whole family to use. I don't need to overclock, so I didn't need the 4790K. I paired this with 32 gigs of ram, 1TB Samsung EVO 850 and EVGA GTX 980 Hybrid (water cooled). Installed water cooling for the CPU. Temps are 25C at idle and 30C at tasks. I have this computer mounted on the wall 6ft off the floor as part of my media center. So temps are a concern, hence the water cooling.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I will update this review in a couple of months. But I don't expect any problems. I you don't want to overclock and want to stay with 1150 socket Z97 motherboard this is a great choice. I recommend this processer.

5 out of 5 eggsI wanted an I7

Pros: I wanted an I7 for HyperThreading and TurboBoost and I have it.

Running on the default cooler and I'm having average temp of 20-50 degrees depending on the load.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I didn't OC my processor.

5 out of 5 eggsStays cooler than expected

Pros: I had always heard that the Intel stock cooler was trash and to never use it. So naturally I used it in a PC for my father (professional photography workstation). At idle, Room temp 23C, it sat at 35C. Under load after 30 minutes of Prime95 Blend It peaked at 80C, but stayed at 75C on average. for the work that he will be doing I do not think he will need a better cooler, i still might get one anyway.

Cons: I have not encountered any issues with my chip.

Other Thoughts: The configuration of the rest of the case is just a Fractal Define R5 no window, with the stock 140mm intake and 140mm exhaust.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU. So long AMD.

Pros: Alright. Over the past several years I have been using AMD CPUs. I think everyone has to admit, for the price, AMD puts out a solid CPU. I have never had any problems with AMD, but I wanted to know what all the hype was about for Intel. My friends swore by it, my family members swore by it, so I gave it a shot and it did not disappoint.

I can't even really describe it when comparing it to my AMD (6 core 1190T). The response from programs and Internet browsing is just unbelievably faster. Its almost as if I just got use to things openly slower and ignorance was bliss in my AMD world. The change is day and night.

AMD, thank you for everything - you suited my needs for cheap performance when I needed it most, but Intel now has a new fan and customer for life.

Cons: Not really a con but I do have some concerns about the heatsink. Idle temps are not crazy high, but they are higher than I would like. I will probably change this out down the road.

But again, its a real "con", it will keep your CPU in acceptable ranges during workloads and will be OK for the average user- its just fun to try and get those temps as low as possible.

Other Thoughts: If you money is not a concern for you. Go Intel. AMD is a great alternative when you are on a budget (as I have been for many years) but the quality and performance is truly unmatched when you stand this next to whatever 24 core AMD CPU they are selling at $150.

4 out of 5 eggsFast CPU But....

Pros: Great CPU - Turbos to 4 GHz under load. Passmarks at 10709. Very nice for the price. Used to be only Xeons had this much compute.

Cons: With stock CPU w/o overclocking, This CPU's internal temp rose to 82 degrees C, just with turbo-boost. I ran Prime95 on it and used core temp - (careful where you down load that - my McAfee detected 4 objectionable components in the version I downloaded) - to see inside the processor. Outside was 45C, but inside is what matters.

I think I'll be buying a 3rd party heat sink.
