5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU. So long AMD.

Pros: Alright. Over the past several years I have been using AMD CPUs. I think everyone has to admit, for the price, AMD puts out a solid CPU. I have never had any problems with AMD, but I wanted to know what all the hype was about for Intel. My friends swore by it, my family members swore by it, so I gave it a shot and it did not disappoint.

I can't even really describe it when comparing it to my AMD (6 core 1190T). The response from programs and Internet browsing is just unbelievably faster. Its almost as if I just got use to things openly slower and ignorance was bliss in my AMD world. The change is day and night.

AMD, thank you for everything - you suited my needs for cheap performance when I needed it most, but Intel now has a new fan and customer for life.

Cons: Not really a con but I do have some concerns about the heatsink. Idle temps are not crazy high, but they are higher than I would like. I will probably change this out down the road.

But again, its a real "con", it will keep your CPU in acceptable ranges during workloads and will be OK for the average user- its just fun to try and get those temps as low as possible.

Other Thoughts: If you money is not a concern for you. Go Intel. AMD is a great alternative when you are on a budget (as I have been for many years) but the quality and performance is truly unmatched when you stand this next to whatever 24 core AMD CPU they are selling at $150.

4 out of 5 eggsFast CPU But....

Pros: Great CPU - Turbos to 4 GHz under load. Passmarks at 10709. Very nice for the price. Used to be only Xeons had this much compute.

Cons: With stock CPU w/o overclocking, This CPU's internal temp rose to 82 degrees C, just with turbo-boost. I ran Prime95 on it and used core temp - (careful where you down load that - my McAfee detected 4 objectionable components in the version I downloaded) - to see inside the processor. Outside was 45C, but inside is what matters.

I think I'll be buying a 3rd party heat sink.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Runs fast and doesn't bottleneck my GPU , Noticeable improvements across most of my games.

Cons: None that I can think of or notice.

Other Thoughts: Bought this CPU for a new Intel build as the old AMD FX build was becoming sluggish. I also suffered bottlenecks with the 8350 I was using before. Now the GPU gets used to it's full capacity. I admit I love both AMD and Intel but AMD has some catching up to do and hopefully they do with Zen.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Works great and is fast. I can have multiple tabs in my browser open without any lag. Netflix is so fast the movies are better than the theatre. The stock heat sink works fine for me. I'm not doing any over clocking so no problem for me.

Cons: Can't be installed directly in my brain for transcendence.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Being as this is my first time building a computer, I did a lot of research before buying this and I must say this is great. For not being able to be overclocked the speed is still tremendous.

Cons: Not really a con but you will need an aftermarket heatsink/fan if you are planning on doing anything major like gaming. I did and managed to keep the cpu at 29°c which is great.

Other Thoughts: The only thing i wish is I wish i could have gotten the one to overclock on. But thats nothing.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy It!

Pros: I was torn between this and the 4790k, After doing a lot of research I decided the 4790k was even more overkill than this processor. And I was right! This processor paired with good memory and a nice gpu will handle anything you can throw at it. I've tried to stress this thing just to see if I can, I haven't found a way yet. One more thing to add since a lot of people don't talk about it. The stock cooler on this looks cheap, but does the job very well. It's near silent and keeps the cpu well within safe temps. I would buy this again without any second thought. I was a huge AMD fan, but I recommend spending the extra cash on this. You wont be disappointed!

Cons: Doesn't cook dinner.

5 out of 5 eggsMaybe too much power

Pros: I upgraded from an i3 that would use 70-80% of the card with me putting work on it to this i7 that's i barely see go past 10% usage. So yea it's a big upgrade. I wont need to be buying another cpu for a long while with this bad boy in my system

Cons: I bought this card hoping for it to be a nice upgrade from my i3 as a gaming build, and i believe i got too much power (that's one thing you didn't expect). if you're looking to buy a cpu for gaming an i5 should be more than enough but i7 is in a sense future proofing. Still a good cpu nonetheless
