4 out of 5 eggsIts Fast

Pros: fast in every latest application and games I throw on it. temp does not exceed above 58 C stock fan (High end Casing with 2 120mm fans)

Cons: 20-30% slower than my 7 year old Core 2 Quad Q9650 may be bcz q9650 was 375 usd high end cpu.
(gets hot quickly now though q9650).

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Good for an average single-threaded processor.
Several games seem to work better with Intel processors, so that's kind of a bonus if you didn't know beforehand.

Cons: A bit overpriced.
Coming from an AMD family I don't think the performance justifies spending $200 on this CPU. Besides benchmarks you really will not see the bonus with your own eyes.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this processor only if you see it on sale (below $200). Otherwise, just get a K series or AMD 6300.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid for Upper Mid-grade

Pros: Very quick and very snappy processor. This was my first Core build and I must say I am thoroughly impressed.

Cons: It doesn't talk.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat new technology

Pros: I used a watt meter to measure my previous system, an i5-750 with a Radeon HD-5770, including a 23" LCD monitor I was drawing around 190 watts. With the new chip and *no* GPU I am now down to around 100 watts. The system is much quieter with no GPU fan running, and with an aftermarket air cooler it is staying really cool and quiet.

So far I have played some Skyrim, and performance was OK on low settings. This was pretty shocking to me considering that it wasn't that long ago that people were crying about how their high power GPUs could barely handle the game. Can you tell I don't upgrade that often?

I have heard that the AMD equivalent has significantly better performance, but let's face it... if you really want high performance you'll still get a dedicated GPU. People are demanding higher resolution and better graphics, and unless you're happy with getting less than you could, an on-chip GPU just isn't going to get you there.

Having said that, this chip's integrated GPU is far more than adequate. I got a Windows 7 experience score of 6.3 in graphics, and I haven't had any issues.

Cons: None, really. I think this chip fits pretty well at its price point. Lower cost or higher performance are always nice, but this one gets the job done.

The stock cooler could be better, but it looks identical to the one I used for years on my i5-750. It's not that loud and the chip doesn't run *that* hot. You don't need an aftermarket cooler, but the stock cooler isn't so amazing that you won't see a benefit.

5 out of 5 eggsCPU Bliss

Pros: It works as advertised. Happy as can be with the proc. 4 cores of bliss.

Cons: wish it was hyper-threaded

Other Thoughts: I used this for my Media Browser 3 rig with 4x 4TB HD's and a ASUS Z97M-Plus MB and 16GB of ram. There is an SSD thrown in there somewhere.
Feeds 5-8 end-point with TV, Movies, and/or Music.

3 out of 5 eggsMake sure to check if your botherboard is compatible

Pros: Standard great intel CPU

Cons: Check your motherboard to ensure it will work. Gotten a asus H81m-D would not post, thought it was the board. got a asus H81m-k localy, no post. in checking intels site about board compatibility the asus H81 series is not compatible, but the asrock H81 chipset is. There is no information on the information about this.

This chip is a haswell refresh. 87 series boards with a bios upgrade should work, and all 97 series will work.

Other Thoughts: Wasted a ton of time trouble shooting why boards wouldn't post, and two trips to the local electronics store to get a board that would work.

5 out of 5 eggsruns great

Pros: Newer chip, replaces the i5 4570, a little faster than 4570. Good price range for performance for Intel chips. Has 4600 video which is an improvement over the 4570.

Cons: These will run a little hot under load unless you have a good CPU cooling and case air flow. Supplied heat sink and fan is OK for general use as is the 4600 integrated video but not good for gaming or intensive workloads.

Other Thoughts: Bought with a H97 Asus board and installed and tested. Been running it pretty hard for about 7 days and no problems. Runs as expected. Did not use the supplied heat sink went on and got a CPU water cooler by Cool Master with 120mm Radiator and it keeps the CPU temps down in the mid 40c even under load.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Fast Processor

Pros: Very Fast, and Good Processor, runs cool, not to hot. not a room heater like my old Pentium D. Works great with a Asus Z97 1150 intel Motherboard. Nice quiet heatsync. just wish it was a little bigger.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Wish the heat-sync was a little bigger.
