5 out of 5 eggsI5-4590

Pros: Seems to be a solid processor. It scores a 7.6 on Windows Experience 7 without any overclocking. I paired with Asus Z97-A motherboard and samsung 850 SSD.

Cons: None really that I can think of. For the money, it's pretty close to an I7

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Great single threaded performance and adequate multi threaded performance. Easily the best value in the Intel gaming CPU market when I picked up on sale last week. Keeps cool while playing FFXIV and Second Life, which are both maxed at 1080p and just barely playable, but pretty. The CPU is hovering around 62-65 Celsius under gaming conditions. Haven't had a chance to run anything through it using meGUI for video encoding, or dbpoweramp for music transcoding, but I'd assume from all the benchmarks I've viewed it will provide a noticeable jump in performance over the i3 for those uses.

Cons: The stock fan is merely acceptable, might want an aftermarket CPU cooler for more intense and habitual work, other than infrequently encoding or transcoding stuff. Based off of a half hour prime 95 torture test. I got 84 Celsius, which is still absolutely fine, for spring.

Other Thoughts: I'm really glad I decided to bump up my budget and go with a true quad core rather than another dual core with hyper-threading. While currently, I notice no large difference while using my computer for day to day tasks over my i3 2120, I assure you the difference will be there to see when I go to demux, encode and mux a large movie file.

That being said, my gaming tastes are mostly MMOs and Second Life. A good CPU with great single thread performance is a must for FFXIV and WoW. That is the only reason I chose this build around Intel, and I wish I could have fit in a "k" version CPU in my budget. That being said, my build is fairly minimal and budget oriented while providing a good, noticeable boost in performance.

8gb Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1600mz (meh, it works, from old build)

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for gaming

Pros: Pros=
-It's an intel processor
-3.7 turbo
-stock heat sink keeps it under 50'C under load

Cons: Cons=

-N/A at this time

Other Thoughts: I really don't see the point of spending $50 more to be able to overclock if gaming is all you plan on doing. I built a pc with gaming in mind, and with this CPU at it's heart, there has been no issues, and i am completely smitten with the performance. It is in a true sweet spot price/performance wise.

1 out of 5 eggsBad right out of the box

Pros: It's a processor.

Cons: This thing has given me gobs of trouble. Tried two different motherboards, three different hard drives on my build. IE, Chrome, Word, Excel all would crash whenever I tried to use them and tough even getting to install. Finally had to take in to a local shop where they swapped in a different processor for testing (didn't have an extra i5 processor laying around to test with). All observed problems immediately went away.

Other Thoughts: I've never seen a bad processor right out of the box before. I've been battling for two months now trying to do a rebuild and thinking I am losing my mind. Hope I can still RMA this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cpu and stays cool

Pros: Installed this on a z97 chipset mobo and was very surprised at how much of a performance gain was given over my old I5-650 also the dedicated graphics are also pretty good for a dedicated graphics card. this Cpu runs very cool in my rig with a stock cooler Idle around 27c and max around 55-60c this is with an antec gx700 case running all stock fans as well. just a great cpu and for the price it really couldnt be beat to meet my needs

Cons: none whatsoever

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Chip for a Great Price

Pros: Decided to make the switch from AMD after years of extreme cpu budget making. Got chip on a deal from newegg.
Runs cool. Have a Nepton 120xl with only 1 fan mounted. Idles at 25C and maxes at 44C on prime95 for 12 hours.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Have not tried the integrated graphics but its a plus that its there.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great processor for the price. Works great, turbo speeds up to 3.7 GHz. Haven't had any problems so far.

Great price point for somebody looking for a quality processor that can handle games but who doesn't need/want to overclock.

Cons: Not a fan of the snap in stock cooler. The cooler itself holds up fine, but the snaps were difficult to handle without feeling like I was putting too much pressure on the board. But I'm not going to drop an egg for a processor over the stock cooler.

Other Thoughts: Used this for my first build, works great with the other components:

ASRock H97 Pro 4 Mobo
G.Skill Ripjaw 2x4GB
EVGA GTX96 4GB
Corsair CX500 80+ Bronze
WD Blue 1TB

Would absolutely buy again.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: fast, fast, fast. Great processor for converting home movies. I dont do gaming so this was well worth the money for what I am using it for. A big step up from a single core intel processor that I had for over 12 years in my last computer rebuild.

Cons: none
