5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Processor and Beyond!

Pros: For any budget user, please do not undermine this processor! For any basic simple needs or even Mid Range Gaming, it can pull really well!
This processor is really quick with booting up programs, provides extra power when needed and never disappoints.
Games such as Metro 2033 run quite impressively well on this processor and being able to dedicate1Gb of RAM to the GPU through Bios provides even more power without the need for a dedicated Graphics Card! ( Please Read Other thoughts in regards to Gaming ).
If you just run basic programs, such as web browsing, watching movies, or playing games that don't require too much CPU Power, then honestly this processor is perfect for you!

I always and only had experience with AMD Processors, never had Intel, until ( pardon the word play ) now. I had AMD Athlon X2, and last recent was AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition Quad Core.
More cores does not mean more power or better performance!
Intel i3 4150 Surpasses the Quad Core AMD with ease, the cores are used a whole lot more efficiently, and the CPU Temps are perfect!

Since having finally tasted the flavor of Intel, I will never be going back to AMD!

Newegg Customer Service, Order and Shipment experience was also wonderful! Definitely will be a customer for life with Newegg!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to buy a proper Heatsink for this processor. The Stock heatsink that comes inside the box I do not recommend, as it lets the processor reach high temps quickly. WIth my experience, 70*C was quite easy to have while gaming, and idle around 40*C. Having installed a basic copper base and pipe Deep Cool Heatsink reduced to 50*C while gaming and 30-35*C idle.

With gaming, i have not had issues, however did notice that Tropico 5 did begin to reach the CPU Usage limit available on this processor. Due to so many items, and objects that the Computer has to keep in it's mind, it was beginning to lag. Again, it may be because of not having a dedicated Graphics Card.

Again, I'm absolutely satisfied with this processor! Never needed an i5 or an i7. For those doing Heavy video editing, music editing, or 3d Designs, I would absolutely advise going a step higher than an i3. But for those like me, who only use the computer for the basics but like to have a little bit of fun on the side, go with an Core i3! You will not regret it!

3 out of 5 eggsIntel i3 - 4150 Haswel

Pros: This is on the cheaper end of Intel Processors. It typically can handle a dedicated task with relative ease.

Cons: The processor's utilization of dual-core technology is noticeable in modern software, web applications, and gaming particularly. Even with hyper-threading, there just simply aren't enough cores to keep up. Processor also started getting hot about 6 months in and I had to replace my thermal paste.

Other Thoughts: It's like trying to run a system with 4GB RAM these days....it might be really nice RAM...but it's still only 4GB.

5 out of 5 eggsSnappy little processor

Pros: Super snappy and fast processor. I don't game on it often, as it's more of an HTPC CPU, but never hit a hiccup with this bad boy. I know I'll have many years to come on this delightful piece of silicon.

Cons: not a one

Other Thoughts: I got a steal deal around $85 from another retailer of the feline persuasion, and at that price, there's no second thinking.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Intel Haswell

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I purchased this list of items below to rebuild my home sever that had a HDD failure. I decided it was time for new technology. I basically replaced everything except for the case (an old emachines desktop case).

I liked the Intel i3 Haswell processor because it's fast, but the Haswell architecture has a very low power idle mode, just make sure you get a compatible power supply. Of course a server is idle most of the time so this was important to me.

My biggest requirement for the motherboard was at least 1 USB 3.0 for high speed connections, and of course the correct interface for an Intel i-series processor.

The power supply fan is very quiet, and the replacement case fan is nearly silent.

I installed everything, booted up installed and setup Xubuntu 14.04 for my server configuration, copied all of my old data to the new HDD, put the server in the utility room and it's been running happily ever since.

G.Skill, Corsair, Seagate, and GIGBYTE, all companies I've had good luck with.

1 x G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-
1 x CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply
1 x GIGABYTE GA-H87M-D3H LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
1 x Vantec Stealth 80mm Double Ball Bearing Silent Case Fan - Model SF8025L
2 x Seagate ST310005N1A1AS-RK (1TB) -Unfortunately I didn't buy the HDD from NewEgg I needed them in a hurry one weekend.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel Core i3-4150

Pros: More than adequate for general use and most mid-range games (when paired with a decent graphics card). No problem simultaneously watching a movie, browsing the web, and using a word processor or spread sheet program. Paired with an SSD for booting and games and it performs impressively for the money.

Cons: Newegg misrepresents this processor as having Turbo Boost but it has no such feature. Other than that - no cons.

Other Thoughts: This processor really is great for everything most people would ever throw at it. Don't waste your money on aftermarket cooling because the provided flimsy fan keeps it very cool unless pushed to the max. Still, trying to test the limits of this mini-beast, I couldn't get the CPU temp over 60 C simultaneously viewing three videos, playing WOW, and opening a half dozen other programs.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome little guy

Pros: It's pretty powerful for an i3. It's powerful for a cpu, man. I bought this for a budget lan system to play multiplayer games like TF2, L4D2, and DayZ. It can easily handle all those.
Low TDP.
I'm actually impressed.

Cons: Newer i3s are available now. But this is still very good.
Even so, anything more than this or the 4160 and you might as well get an i5 until the newer i3s drop in price.

Other Thoughts: I'm slightly jealous of the newer i3 models that have become available since I got this. The 4160, for example. But, for a portable lan system, this cpu provides a great cpu for the price.
I didn't use the stock cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid performer, cannot overclock

Pros: - Power efficient for performance
- Hyper threading used in 75% of games (hitting 3-4 thread usage around 75% of the time)
- Overall very fast

Cons: - Locked. Nothing against buying this (buy it - buy it now), but I generally don't like Intel's stance the last few years about paying a premium to "fully enable" their hardware. Honestly though, this is fantastic performance for the price and TDP.

Other Thoughts: Haven't used this on air cooling, went straight to Corsair H55. Idles around 18 C and loads around 35 C on AIO water cooler. Given the low temp it stays at 3.8 GHz much of the time :)
