Pros: fast, quad core.

Cons: runs hot

Other Thoughts: this isn't your everyday run of the mill "gaming" cpu or home cpu. this is for work stations, super computers, intensive rendering and the like. so to the person who mentioned crysis, this would perform worse in crysis then a q6600.

Good Server Chip for VM-Ware

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Excellent Processor for quad Socket-Quad core systems. It runs multiple Virtual machines on our custom built servers for VMware 3.02. Never has caused any issues. Gives solid Consistent Performance. We have a small Grid of 6 Quad Socket machines with 64 GB ram each for our enviroment. This has to be one of the Best Performing Processors I have ever used.

Cons: NEEDS ALOT OF AIR. You have to have a good airflow setup to make sure these don't overheat if you use them in a rack. I also wish the XEON 7XXX series would be running on 1333 or 1600 FSB instead of the 1066 that is currently available.

Other Thoughts: Excellent Processor and Well worth the money that was put into the systems.
