The Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5000 series, with 64-bit computing and greater power efficiency, is ideal for intense computing environments, business-critical applications and high-end workstations.
Powered by the Intel 5000 chipset family and Fully Buffered DIMM (FBDIMM) technology, new dual-core Intel Xeon 5000 series-based platforms are expected to deliver up to 2 times the performance and up to 70% increase in performance/watt of previous single core Intel Xeon processors. Featuring a 1066MHz FSB, 4MB (2 x 2MB) L2 cache and an operating speed of 3.0GHz, the dual core Intel Xeon 5050 processor delivers impressive performance, reliability and versatility, and helps drive low total cost of ownership.
Good for a Buget
This review is from: Intel Xeon 5050 Dempsey Dual-Core 3.0 GHz LGA 771 BX805555050P 2U Passive Processor
Pros: Its a great chip for me , since I'm just in high school. Its not the fastest workstation chip out on the market, but versus a 1.6hgz dell computer its great. I would reccomened buying the woodcrest if you can, but if you can't, then get this.
Cons: Well, like all chips, they do have their limitations. It is close to 4 times faster than my old dell. I still get some bottlenecks in 3ds max 8, but they are faster than before.
Other Thoughts: Its very fast, I only spent $xxxx for this pc, which i saved for over the summer. It runs battlefield 2 great with my x1300 all in wonder and 1gb of ram.
