- Pros: been running dual E5405's at 100% load for 6 months. runs cool and has given me zero complaints. really love it. the 12 MB cache adds greatly to its performance.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: i run Folding@Home bigadv units on these processors. they recommend 2.6 GHZ dual quad core processors for these units, but the 12 MB cache makes up for what they lack in speed. very pleased. would purchase again if i had to.
No fan is in the description
- Pros: Good processor
- Cons: Requires reading the description in order to buy the right thing.
- Other Thoughts: To the intelligent person who complained about not knowing that the CPU was passive cooling. You can read under the specifications for this device that it says "Cooling Device Heatsink included" and for the other processor with active cooling it says "Cooling Device Heatsink and Fan included". That should be a dead giveaway. Also, Intel product numbers for their CPUs either have an A or a P at the end of them which stand for Active or Passive cooling.
You can buy anything you want on Newegg, including enough rope to hang yourself, but you should read the description first to make sure you've bought the right rope.
PASSIVE heat sink

- Other Thoughts: Had to send it back. WATCH OUT! This is a PASSIVE heatsink--that means no fan. If you're building a server in a tower, this is not the right CPU. Get the one with heatsink and fan.
