5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: very cheap cpu, dont be fooled because its a celeron. since its a haswell its performance is much higher then you would expect.

for some reason in most benchmarks this goes toe to toe with the pentium version above it.

some people say you cant overclock with this cpu, they just mean you cant change multiplier. you can still do generic baseclock overclocking like normal.

Cons: stock cooler has no copper core, but cpu runs so cold i dont think it needs one.

Other Thoughts: cheap cpu for any casual/light loads. at this day and age haswells even if a celeron has enough muscle to get the job done. pair it with an ssd and you have a very strong office machine, the integrated graphics meet the minimum spec for some games too.

gets 40c idle with pre applied thermal compound at 37% fan speed. thing runs close to 53c for the general load i put on it. fan is inaudible.

5 out of 5 eggsA surprising well performing office processor

Pros: - Very Affordable for PC builders in a tight budget
- Good performance for the price
- Doesn't use too much power and consistently cool temperatures

Cons: - Playing games while doing moderate multi-tasking hurts the performance quite a bit depending what specs you have on your PC.
- Non-Overclockable (Though it's not a big loss since I didn't plan on overclocking anytime soon)

Other Thoughts: I have build a budget office/gaming PC to replace my 7 year old Acer Aspire Desktop computer. I was very surprised that the PC performed very well on games like Race Driver Grid and Grid Autosport. I was under a tight budget at the time and I planned on re-using the old MicroATX case I found two years ago, the sata DVD Drive, and so forth.

5 out of 5 eggsPrefect for daily tasks

Pros: -Runs very cool with stock cooler
-Boots very fast even with an HDD
-Really good performance for daily tasks like web browsing, documents, streaming video
-Easy choice for budget/office builds that won't be used for gaming. Uses 53 watts of power!
-Not listed here: This processor supports ECC memory! Check intel's website. Usually you don't see this except in $200+ Xeon server processors. This would be an interesting choice for a home server, and again, this processor consumes almost no power and runs dead cool.

Cons: -No hyperthreading (not expected at this price point)

Other Thoughts: Used this CPU to build a computer for my mother and replace her 10 year old dell. Was really surprised at how much value intel is packing in celerons these days. This little bugger with 4 gigs of DDR3 RAM and a 5900 RPM SATA 2 Hard Drive boots up in under 20 seconds. All basic apps boot quickly, documents are laggy by no means. This is a really solid processor for regular, daily usage. As mentioned, I saw on intel's website this processor supports ECC memory! Intel usually reserves this feature for Xeons that run 200-5000 dollars. This would be a really solid choice for a home server with ECC memory and only 53 watts of power usage.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing value

Pros: Celeron used to mean compromise, now seems to mean best-value-going. Get a Socket 1150 rig up and running while waiting for news on Broadwell? Perfect!

Running 24-27 C with antivirus and internet load, tops out at 47 C after 3 Linpack cycles. Stock cooler is completely adequate. HD video is flawless. Sub 10 second boot times with SSD.

Cons: OC'd Celerons could be tons of fun! Why not an unlocked Celeron to pit against the Pentium G3258?

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Great little CPU for the money. For everyday use it's perfect and creates a low amount of heat. Upon putting it under stress test for an hour, the temperature was steady at 40 Celsius and the stock cooler was surprisingly quiet. Definitely not for heavy gaming or a workstation (obviously), but for someone who just wants something that will work and work well, this is perfect.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsgreat so far

Pros: I am really impressed. I bought this intel for the soul purpose of testing my motherboard.(im saving for the core i5 4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor) this Intel along with the GeForce 750 1gb and the Z-97 G1 gaming 5 motherboard from Gigabyte really stomped out my old "Gaming rig" (fm2+ and an A-4 apu with the same RAM and GPU as I have now). here are the scores for Fire Strike (benchmark) computer Score
3570 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750(1x) and Intel Celeron G1840
Graphics Score4462

Physics Score2819

Combined Score1701

Cons: my only complaint is that the boxed cooler seems a little cheep in construction. if you some how overclock this CPU (not a "K" so I don't see how you would O.C. safely) you might consider a better cooler, but it would be easier to get a faster processor.

Other Thoughts: This setup I have is slightly above a gaming laptop according to fire strike. if you are on a budget (and many of us are...) then this CPU should be on the top of your list of processors on the "bang for your buck" list. I'm planning on setting up a little work station for a friend and I can whole-heartedly recommend this CPU to anyone for that kind of setup.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little CPU

Pros: Great little processor. Runs cool and fairly quietly (stock cooler isn't the best). Under medium load (playing mincecraft @ 720p) holds steady at about 40C. Great for Web browsing/media use. Great buy for ~$45.

Cons: None beyond a note that the stock cooler seems a bit louder than it could be.

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a placeholder for a i7 4790 to make sure the mobo I bought wasn't doa. If I didn't want to do video editing/gaming on my new PC, this CPU would be perfect. Definitely worth the money.

Test PC Specs:
Celeron G1840 (of course)
8GB 1333 RAM
MSI H87m - G43 (corporate stable) MoBo
GTX 550ti

5 out of 5 eggsCPUs March on

Pros: Workaday cheap processor very suitable for a basic desktop machine.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This processor benches at over half the performance of a 6 core AMD 1055t from a few years ago, 2837 v 5066 according to cpubenchmark. It is more than capable to undertake the usual desktop PC chores.
