5 out of 5 eggsBlazing Fast

Pros: Very Fast and, as with all Intel products, worked perfectly.

Cons: The supplied CPU cooler isn't worth much. I would recommend leaving it out.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Runs strong. Overclocked easily to 4.7ghz with an inexpensive Hyper 212Evo cooler. This is plenty fast enough for my needs.

Cons: Runs hot. In a Gigabyte Z97 board with default bios settings, it was hitting 100C under load! As many other people did, I checked the cooler thinking it wasn't mounted right, but it was fine. I guess the 4790k really does run that hot. I'd suggest going into the bios and getting the temps under control before doing anything else.

Other Thoughts: This is a very fast, very hot cpu. I think Gigabyte boards are somewhat overclocked right out of the box. I found out that "Auto" translates to "as fast as possible," so you might have to go in and set some things manually just to get the temps down.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and works great

Pros: I bought this for a gaming rig that I put together. Not a single issue. Works great. 4.0 Ghz base clock on an intel CPU is amazing.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: If you want a high-end consumer CPU, this is the way to go.

5 out of 5 eggssexy

Pros: Ha, THIS PROCESSOR TRULY MEANS DEVILS CANYON!!!! but in reality if you are upgrading from a first or second gen processor ITS A AMAZING i came from a i7-920 and once again intel cant do me wrong! this chip is a beast. if you have third or fourth gen you might wanna wait for q4 of this year and see if you wanna upgrade to fifth gen processor or stick with a new fourth gen like the 4790k.

Cons: need a better box to ship in put something cool on the box other then the standard intel designs for the other haswell chips! this isnt your mothers processor THIS I LIKE CRYSTALIZED GASOLINE IN YOUR VEINS SAYING IM A MASTER DONT LET ME DOWN MINI JEDIS.

Other Thoughts: BOOM, BUY THIS CHIP.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME

Pros: $5 more than the 4770K, faster, and runs much much cooler. I idle at around 13C and hit mid 30s with 100% load running Prime95. I have it paired up with a Noctua NH-D14 and couldn't be happier.

Don't second guess buying this awesome chip.

Cons: None. Seriously non.

Other Thoughts: Almost bought the 4770K until I realized there was only a $5 price difference.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing power and Stability

Pros: This CPU is one of the best in my opinion, at this current time. Coming out this year in Q2 of 2014, this CPU rides the heels of the 4770k cpu, and stands off from it as well. Intel's Prize 4.0ghz Base Cpu with 4.4Ghz Turbo Boost, i promise you, you will not need to OC this at all. its perfect the way it comes. If your a gamer, you really dont need to OC the CPU, its fast enough for any of your games.

Cooling:
I used the stock cooler that came with it, but cleaned off the stock compound, and replaced it with Artic Silver, and running Prime95. Idle's around 32C and Full load 92C.
I then put on my Corsair H100i and my temps drastically reduced... Same Prime 95, Idle at 30C and Full load at 76C. Major Difference. This CPU has some serious Power!

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm

Pros: Works as a great replacement for my old i7 950 bloomfield. No issues and I can't wait to overclock it eventually.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I had to purchase this because my old motherboard died and they didn't make the socket anymore. Went with the latest and greatest from Intel. Not disappointed!

5 out of 5 eggsStays cool

Pros: Haswell power without the high temps. All the instructions and features unlocked.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I have mine at 4.6 ghz at 1.210 volts under a hyper 212+ and it barely touches 80c in a hot room. I can't wait to put it under water.

4 out of 5 eggsRuns hot, runs fast

Pros: I have a 12 computer LAN. I've been building the network over the past few years. 8 of those processors are new enough to be quad core with hyperthreading. It's been interesting to watch the speeds increase. I'm not running benchmarks, I'm running a real application which just grabs the processors and runs them at 100%. This is under CentOS 6.5.
This processor does 15-20% more work than processors just 6 months old.
BTW I'm using Gigabyte Z97X boards.

Cons: It runs hot. Around 30 degrees C at idle. But my app really puts a load on it. They (I bought two recently) were both running at 100C. under heavy load. That is a lot higher than anything that I've ever seen. or even close. That was also with the stock cooler. I switched to a Cooler Master TX3, and the temp dropped about 10 degrees. Still to hot for me. One is in a 4U rackmount case - I opened the top and put a box fan pointing down. Now it runs at around 80C. I can live with that, for now. My other older computers are running in the mid 50's to the low 60's under the same application.

The worse part was that when I first found the 100C temp, I thought that I had done something wrong with the thermal grease. (Not enough maybe) After adding more the core temp was still 100C. and when I opened it back up again I found that now I had used too much thermal compound. It looked like it had squirted out the side. (Rookie mistake - but I'm not a rookie) I then managed to ruin the MB socket trying to get the grease out. For future reference I now believe that the best way to go after this is NOT with a magnifying glass and dental tools, but a high pressure squirter and bottles of rubbing alcohol. Turn it upside down and spray it out. Let's call it a learning experience.

Other Thoughts: I don't overclock. I built two computers using this chip last week. They are both reporting that they are running at 4.4 GHz. I am in the middle of a week long job, but when that is finished I think that I'll take a look at the BIOS setting and see how hot it runs at a lower Frequency.
