1 out of 5 eggsHORRIBLE

Pros: The CPU is very very fast, when it's not burning to death

Cons: The unit is running burning hot. With a tower cooler and 92mm fan attached. This unit idles at 43, and under prime95 testing shoots to 100 in 20 seconds. Had to power down the machine to avoid damage to cpu

Other Thoughts: I would have never bought an aftermarket cooler had I of known it would NEVER be useful due to the chipset being a notorious overheater. This is just poor quality on Intel's behalf to not be able to keep anything cool enough to actually FUNCTION under load.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST i7-4790K

Pros: Speed, speed, speed. Newer and more future proof than the competitor.

Cons: Price is higher than other alternatives, but worth the extra cash.

Other Thoughts: Paired this with an Asus Z-97-A MB and it screams. Slapped a EVO 212 cooler on it and temps are nice and low. Currently not OC'd, but really don't need it. Very happy. FAST. Long time AMD fan (price mostly), but their inability to update their chips in a timely manner pushed me to make the switch. Happy I did this time around.

5 out of 5 eggsJust Amazing

Pros: +Blazing fast stock 4.0Ghz with 4.4 turbo...I mean come on!

Cons: -That stock cooler is a joke, even with the intention of staying at stock speeds I threw on an after market cooler for peace of mind.

Other Thoughts: For a fun comparison - Media Encoding on Adobe Premiere (2 - Pass (H.x264 @ 1080p 60fps for a 15 minute video)

Core i7 870 @ 2.8 Ghz = 47 minutes
Core i7 4790k @ 4.0 Ghz = 14 minutes

Just crazy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: CPU is leaps and bounds faster (at stock speeds) than my old 3770k *which I couldn't OC*.

I was using a very old H77 chipset board inside a micro-itx case with my 3770k, and because I couldn't overclock it, and the z77 boards were increasingly harder to find and mostly discontinued, I upgraded to this CPU with a newer motherboard. This thing FLIES.

I went from 200-250FPS in CSGO, to 300-400 FPS (all max'd settings 1080p). Stock 4.0 this thing zooms past the 3.8ghz 3770k.

Happy with the upgrade

Cons: Stock cooler is atrocious. I have this CPU in an M-ITX case that has very good airflow, and on stock speeds I saw the CPU hitting 85-90 degrees (celsius).

Other Thoughts: I had to go out to the local retailer and buy an h100i, which dropped the temps to 25-30 idle and 55-60 load (65 on p95).

Get a new cooler with this CPU, you won't regret it.

5 out of 5 eggsWhy does AMD exist?

Pros: Amazing chip! my came out of the box ready to hit 5.1ghz on a AUTO over clock. simply amazing! scored over 10k more points on 3dmark benchmark against my 4770k

Cons: I see no cons here.

5 out of 5 eggsBy Far the best processor I have ever purchased

Pros: I had no expectations, but had read a lot of good things about this processor. Let me say it does all the say it will and More!
With my last build I wouldn't even try ripping a bluray movie.
With this i7 @ 4.6ghz stable as a rock and an Asus hero vii mobo, 8gb of Gskill ddr3 @ 2400mhz. it took about 4 1/2 hrs to encode a 45gb BRD down to a 6gb mkv. file. I was quite shocked it was done that quickly with no strain at all on this behemoth of a processor. The 4 cores stayed at 55-65c the whole time while running a corsair h100 cooler. I always thought i needed a faster grfx card but this processor has taken my frame rate from 30-40fps on my last build to 60-120 now w/ a Raedon 6970
2 fans pulling. I could not be happier

Cons: not a one,

Other Thoughts: for the cost / performance value there is simply No beating this processor. It's the fastest box I've ever personally ran.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel- i7 4790k

Pros: This processor is an absolute monster! Great to go into any rig for an ultimate experience in gaming. Also, it shipped crazy fast. I got it in about two days. Can't compliment this thing enough.

Cons: Why is this even a section for this processor?

Other Thoughts: I just wish it was cheaper T-T But totally worth it

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth the upgrade

Pros: Very fast compared to my phenom 2 1090t.
very nice oc utility very easy especially for people like me who blow at doing oc.

Cons: a little pricey but honestly depending on waht your upgrading from its well worth it.

Other Thoughts: Ive never been a fan of intel because of their high prices but my first time with them so far is phenomenal. I came from an aging amd phenom 2 1090 t and the performance difference is crazy alone i got a 15 - 20 fps increase in all my games with much more stable fps on top of it being higher. Now granted most probably will not see as big of a difference as i did as i said above it depends on what your upgrading from i came from over 4 yr old architecture and a mid to low end mobo to go with it. but either way its worth the money if your looking to upgrade.
