5 out of 5 eggsAmazing processor

Pros: -Incredible processing speeds.
-Easy to install.
-Loads and runs all my games, new and old, extremely fast.
-Constant high speed while processing large amounts of data.
-Packaged and shipped well, many protective airbags. I've come to expect nothing less from Newegg.

Cons: -None that I have come across.

Other Thoughts: -This processor is in my first ground-up gaming PC build. My old OEM homebrewed computer that I sold had a CPU bottleneck.
-I run a liquid cooler, so this thing stays cool. Never used the stock heatsink, so I can't vouch for it.

My system:
-Corsair 750D Case
-Asus Sabertooth z97 Mark 2 / USB 3.1 motherboard
-Intel i7 4790 Devil's Canyon quad core 4.0GHz (before overclock)
-Corsair H100i GTX 240mm watercooler
-EVGA Geforce GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0 (4GB of DDR3 VRAM)
-EVGA 1000G 80 bronze (1000w power supply)
-Seagate Baracuda 7200RPM 1TB HDD

5 out of 5 eggsAn Absolutely Phenomenal Processor

Pros: - Great overclocking potential
- Rock solid at well over 600MHz OC

Cons: - Issues with Prime 95 but I suspect that its an issue with the application itself and not the processor.

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this processor to anyone looking to build a rock solid and high end haswell rig. I chose this over the skylake processors for a number or reasons, all of which can be easily found online. Currently running at 4.8GHz @ 1.32v and using a Corsair H110i GTX water cooler. I replaced the stock fans with the Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC 3000 PWM fans and have seen a decrease of almost 10 degrees C over stock under 100% load. Those that are saying there are heat issues, well that is simply because they chose to overclock without proper cooling. Stock or air cooling will not suffice on anything over 1.3v.

5 out of 5 eggsOverclocked without Overclocking!

Pros: Runs smoothly without having to overclock (though there's room to do so)

Cons: None to my knowledge

Other Thoughts: Fair price for a Great CPU!

5 out of 5 eggscan't believe i didn't buy it before!

Pros: stability and performance. its all i can say. i was on an amd 8 core fx-9590 before and it was good for doing multi-tasking but for gaming, you better go with an intel like the i5-4460 and if you want to do live stream without using a streamcard just go with the 4790k.

PS: i don't really know why an Intel 4core at 3.2Ghz give you way better performance than AMD 8core at 5Ghz.............what's up with that AMD!?

Cons: i didn't like the fact this CPU was to OP!

Other Thoughts: WHY are you reading the comments.....JUST BUY IT!!! the 4790k is the BEST CPU you can get on a DDR3 board!! you will never regret it!

5 out of 5 eggsWarning: This product may require a bios update!

Pros: Have only had this a day (I'll update this later if my experience changes), but it is a big improvement over my old processor (G3450 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116996).

For a benchmark, I was able to increase my graphics settings on the Witcher 3 (50-60fps @1080p) from a mix of Mostly Low and some Medium, to Mostly High and some Ultra!

Cons: Experienced high temperatures (~100°C +) and random restarts. Took a few hours of troubleshooting before I discovered my bios version was not compatible with this processor. Updating fixed all my issues.

Other Thoughts: For anyone curious, my motherboard is an Gigabyte H97 board (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128712) and I upgraded from version F3 to F7 to solve my issues (http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4962&dl=1&RWD=0#bios)

5 out of 5 eggsno issues what so ever

Pros: the cpu out performed others I've had core Temps stay Below 40°C using a noctua 140mm heat sink and the two fans that came with. I benchmarked it with several games and haven't had a issue with it as far as it getting to hot. I do not overclock since I think it's stupid when you buy components of this value. on board graphics hold up to some games at roughly 25 to 30 fps.

Cons: I recommend buying a video card expecially if you are a heavy gamer. (obviously) I don't recommend even contemplating using the stock heat sink as it makes for a great paper weight rather then having any functionality what's so ever. new egg could of worked on packaging a bit better as far as not having any air bags or bubble wrap mainly so I can pop them not so much as protection

Other Thoughts: my PC specs.
msi msi gaming 5 z97
16GB 8x2 corsair memory
2x1TB HDD WD Blue
240GB SSD Kingston
Thor case (forget manufacturer)
750w power supply 80 gold
noctua 140mm duel heatsink and fans

5 out of 5 eggsSurprised

Pros: I am surprised at the difference this processor makes. Very Very fast. I upgraded from a 6 core 1055t. I didn't think I would notice much difference. Runs cooler than I thought. I must have set turbo on performance mode or something because all cores stay on 4.4

Cons: I just can't think of any cons.

Other Thoughts: I do recommend this cpu. I thought about it for a while comparing this to Skylake and all the i5 versions. No regrets.

5 out of 5 eggsKeeps up with my demand

Pros: Fast
booting time is tremendous
I can play Shadows of Mordor or Far Cry Primal with no issues
easy to install
not bad price for an I7

Cons: Gets Fairly Hot quickly (obviously)
Hard to keep up with the I7 line because newer ones are coming out with better performance (as any hardware)
Heatsink is loud

Other Thoughts: none
