5 out of 5 eggsrated highly

Pros: just think, i upgraded from a core 2 duo e5200 to this monster.

Cons: probably not pushing any limitation of this processor.

Other Thoughts: certainly not the $ i like to spend, but every 6 years the money can be justified

5 out of 5 eggsBest CPU Upgrade

Pros: I upgraded to this i7-4790k from a pentium g3258 and the performance boost was massive... Played all my games in +60fps with my evga ftw 960. Best CPU ever!!!
Overclocked this bad boy to 4.7mhz on stock cooler and runs under 70c

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat processor worth every dollar.

Pros: -Very fast default clock speed
-Easy to overclock (OC'd to 4.6 GHz)
-Very worth every penny spent

Cons: -None at all

Other Thoughts: -Only comment would be the stock cooler. Could be a whole lot better.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Processor

Pros: Having owned this proccesor for 2 months, I can say that this is one of the best purchases I've ever made. High fps on every game, great graphics, and amazing speed on everything.

Cons: High cost. It's not that much more than other proccesors on the market, but $330 is an investment.

Other Thoughts: Buy it. You won't regret it.

5 out of 5 eggsi7-4790K

Pros: Fast at stock speeds, good overclocker, runs cool with a decent aftermarket heatsink

Cons: Totally inadequate stock cooler, even at stock multiplier and core voltage

Other Thoughts: A couple of years ago I built a new PC using a Newegg combo which included a Gigabyte Z87 motherboard and an i5-4440. I was very happy with this PC's performance vs. my old Core2 Duo build but then my girlfriend wanted a new PC so I decided to build hers around the i5 and use this opportunity to upgrade my PC to the 4790K. I've heard about over voltage issues using Z87 chipsets with Devil's Canyon CPUs but I've experienced none (I made sure my bios was up to date first, of course). I left my bios in the default settings used Gigabyte's Auto Tune software to overclock. This netted me 4.7GHz with the core voltage at 1.25 volts (static) and has been rock solid now for 8 months. FWIW, I'm using the relatively small and inexpensive Cryorig H7 CPU cooler. My idle temps are in the low 30s and stress testing peaks at 77. During typical use I'm usually around 40 degrees. Apparently I lucked out and got a good chip. I'm sure I could get an even higher overclock with good liquid radiator but even at 4.7GHz this computer is overkill for my current needs and I likely won't need to upgrade again for quite some time.

5 out of 5 eggsKiller Devil's Canyon Habitant

Pros: - Extremely fast processor that can handle anything you throw at it
- Good for gaming and editing
- Have owned the chip for over a year now and have had no issues, crashes or anything else negative

Cons: - Nothing bad experienced

Other Thoughts: - Be sure to get good cooler for this chip so you can push that clock speed even farther

5 out of 5 eggsEasy install, works amazing, a little overkill for work but great for games

Pros: Mounting everything was a breeze, came with thermal paste already applied. I can run RTS, work on Tableau, and make run queries...all with little effort.

Cons: Couldn't sat since I have yet to push it to the limit. There's probably newer better ones out there, so not really cutting edge anymore (but by no means obsolete).

Other Thoughts: Would recommend for anyone who doesn't need a hex-core. Even if you want to make a normal everyday work computer, pay-once-cry-once, this will remain relevant for years.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for streaming gameplay!

Pros: Very fast, very efficient CPU. Great for recording and streaming gameplay. $60-70 cheaper than the skylake 6700k, for real world performance that is "just as good." Stock cooler performs well. The system is extremely quiet, even with the asus z97-a/usb3.1 motherboard's auto-tuned performance enhancments (running the CPU as high as 4.5ghz at times) in the beautiful, Raven RVX01BR case.

Cons: None. This CPU is (now) a reasonably priced beast.

Other Thoughts: Bought this CPU, an Asus z97-a/usb3.1 motherboard, an MSI R9 390, 16gb of memory, and the Raven RVX01BR case for gameplay streaming at 1080p. And it runs very well!

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what you would expect

Pros: Extremely fast, reasonable power consumption, overclockable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If at all possible, replace the stock cooling fan with something more robust. I went with a Thermaltake option that does the job nicely at a reasonable rotational speed to keep cooling at a maximum and noise at a minimum.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product!

Pros: Easy to install.
Works like a charm.
I have yet to overclock as there hasn't been a need.
1.5 years still going strong.

Cons: Stock fan will not keep cool enough for gaming. (FYI)

Other Thoughts: First Intel Build, I must say I am impressed.
