5 out of 5 eggsSuch awesome

Pros: Upgraded from a Intel core 2 Quad 2.5ghz. Needless to say this thing is like a darn spaceship. So fast! I actually overclocked this to 4.5ghz at 1.2v. Temps never over 50C even stressed. I also had it at 4.8ghz 1.3v, but I didn't want to stress it too much yet. With my SSD I can boot up In >10 secs. Major improvements. No complaints!

Cons: Price point may be high for some people, but just think about what you getting this is the best buy for gaming at the moment without breaking the bank on an i7.

Other Thoughts: I got mine for around 215$ in a bundle deal. Can't beat it!

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Spot for Cost Vs Performance!

Pros: It's the latest and greatest Intel Core i5 processor, in an unlocked K SKU and with a new TIM to help keep the chip cooler under load.

I was able to overclock this from it's stock 3.5GHz up to 4.4GHz on a ASUS Z97-A motherboard with a Corsair H100i liquid cooler, and considering that a lot of the reviews and benchmarks for it's more expensive i7 4790K counterpart were unable to reliably surpass that, I'm happy with it's substantial (but average) overclock.

Unless you really need Hyper-Threading because you also do professional work or plan on doing a lot of streaming or game recording, you won't see a substantial benefit in getting the more expensive i7 4690K over this. This really hits the cost vs performance sweet spot if you have a setup capable of overclocking.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: That being said, don't buy this CPU unless you plan on overclocking it and you have a motherboard and cooling solution capable of doing just that. If you don't plan on overclocking, get a non-K series CPU and save yourself some money.

Also, while the Devil's Canyon CPU's (this chip, the i7 4790K and the Pentium G3258) will work on pre-Z97 chipset boards, those boards often need BIOS updates. So if you are planing to upgrade your current board, be sure to check that your motherboard has a BIOS update that will allow you to run the Haswell-E refresh chips before you install. If you are looking at a completely new rig, be aware that while older chipsets (H81, Z87, etc.) can support this i5, they probably won't do so out of the box. In that case, you'll either need another compatible CPU on hand to boot through POST to the OS, or make sure you buy one with a suitably updated BIOS from the manufacturer.

My current setup.

Corsair Carbide Air 540 case
ASUS Z79-A motherboard
Corsair H100i 120mm closed loop liquid CPU cooler

1x Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition rear exhaust fan

EVGA GTX770 Dual SuperClocked 2GB
Corsair HX850 PSU

4 out of 5 eggsFast!

Pros: It works. It's fast.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I knocked off an egg, just because the first one I got was defective. Not Intel or Newegg's fault but I had to wait for the RMA and the replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU

Pros: Worked right out of the box. My computer is FAST with this in there. Haven't played with Over Clocking YET, as I don't have a very good CPU cooler at the moment (soon). Will update once I do.

Cons: It doesn't install itself.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Photoshop

Pros: Super fast in Photoshop CS6 and overall very responsive processor.

Cons: Scores less than my FX8350 in Cinebench 15 but it was expected. Most programs won't use 8 cores anyway so the i5 is superior in many real world applications.

Other Thoughts: I didn't get to use it much since it was used in a build for a friend but he is a really good artist and needed a boost from his little AMD dual core setup he had.
He messaged me saying that his new computer is amazing and it is thanks to this chip.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: The default settings for this processor(at least for my motherboard) make it run without any problems, overclocked perfectly and haven't had a problem with it!

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsProduct is good, Shipping is amazing

Pros: So nice
So fast
Overclocks very well (see other thoughts)
runs very cool (using corsair H60)
that freaking Shipping!!!!
- i used the free 4-7 day shipping, got there the next day from ordering. One day.

Cons: I was caught off guard by the delivery, it's like they were waiting up the street while i ordered.
I had to let it go, my intel i7 920 @2.67Ghz. it will always be missed.
deserves a better case than what it's in.

Other Thoughts: using the MOBO: ASRock Fatality z97 Killer board, and a Corsair H60 watercooler, Immediately had this overclocked to 4.5Ghz
Temps:
Idle: 28-35 degrees Celsius depending on room temp.
Under load, it is unrealistic to get this thing past the 70's

without an overclock, this thing didn't get past the 40's..

Another note, I had this CPU running stable at even higher overclocks. 4.5Ghz is more than a modest overclock, but it has room to move.

4 out of 5 eggsI am quite surprised.

Pros: So... I grabbed this little critter for my wife's computer build. and it is doing laps around my 8 core AMD cpu .... I cry myself to sleep every night knowing she has a better cpu than me ....

Cons: No cons so far. It seems to be working as designed.

Other Thoughts: Something that really had me worried was that the instructions specifically shows that you are NOT to put on ANY paste at all. So ... I used the stock fan/sink, installed it on the motherboard with the cpu, and had no problems so far, temps are always around 30C.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent CPU

Pros: Killer processor! Very reasonably priced for the quality. Super fast, H100i keeps it cool.

Cons: Stock heatsink isn't awesome. Zero problem with me, though. I'm planning on overclocking it anyway so the H100i is a good idea anyway.
