5 out of 5 eggsFastest i5 on the market

Pros: Have been running this cpu for 3 months already and still amazes me evedyday!
Super easy to overclock this chip to 4.7Ghz on air, with low 40C temps at dull load. I just bought the Hyper Evo for 19.00 works AWESOME!

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: With some arctic silver and the CoolerMaster evo 212, I was able to push this to 4.6 GHz with no problems. Paired with some fast memory and my GTX 970 Superclocked Vid card from EVGA, I have a beast machine for sure!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Man, don't waste your time on i7's. Save the dollars and get this bad boy. Spend a little bit on a nice HSF and some arctic silver and you'll never know you didn't have the i7.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid cpu

Pros: Fast. Cool. Efficient.

Nice, easy OC to 4.2 Ghz at only 1.1 volts. I know for a fact that I could push it much further with ease, but I'm enjoying the low wattage and max temps in low 50s on air.

Cons: Came with a dinky chunk of scrap for a heatsink. Get something to make this cpu feel loved, and it will love you back.

Other Thoughts: Coming off of my old AMD 965BE, this cpu doesn't FEEL that much faster during average workloads or in games, but I feel better knowing that my cpu won't be bottle-necking my new GTX 970.

5 out of 5 eggsAn Amazing Chip

Pros: I currently have this chip overclocked to 4.7ghz at 1.34v

What amazes me is that the chip will NOT HEAT UP. Under a full load running Prime95 for 20 minutes, this chip did not break 40C. I cannot explain it. I have checked both third-party software and my BIOS for temperature fluctuations and this chip does not break 40C. (I live in Florida with ambient temperatures in the computer space of around 21C-24C.)

I was able to get this chip stable in Prime95 (small and large FFT for 20 mins) running at 4.7ghz and 1.3v but I experienced some graphical artifacting while playing games. Bumping the vcore to 1.34v solved the problem completely.

I got a BSOD trying to run Prime95 at 3.8ghz with 1.3v

I am cooling this chip on air with a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO and 5 case fans. I used Arctic MX-4 thermal compound.

The performance of this chip is just as good as it's specifications. I am able to stream my favorite games at 1080p while maintaing a quite decent framerate considering that my video card is a meager HD7870.

While streaming and running games at 1080p, I also have a browser open on a second monitor with a video streaming. I could probably perform more tasks in order to max this chip out, but I am just one man!!!

I would recommend this chip to any gamer who can afford the purchase.

Cons: This chip does not have hyper-threading capability QQ

Other Thoughts: This chip is competing against the FX 8350 and FX 8370. Although I don't own either of those chips, I must contend that the extra cash it costs for the 4690k is well worth the expense.

This extra cost is buying the consumer more advanced lithography (22nm vs 32nm), lower power consumption over time (88w vs 125w + more wattage when overclocking. Saves the cost difference over a year of heavy use), better single-threaded performance over AMD's modules (better gaming performance), and a more advanced chipset in Z97 motherboards.

In my opinion, the extra cost becomes warranted when weighing the positives that the 4690k offers. I really hope that AMD can bring something new to the desktop CPU game in 2016.

5 out of 5 eggsMore WOW'S

Pros: With the New Z97 and 2400 ram what not to like this chip really beats my 2500 which i still use for gaming. I got mine on sale so i was able to get a good Board Gig. of course you can't beat the dual bios. I wanted a good gamer for my 970 this will do the trick.

Cons: For what it cost to build there are NONE. Blink of a Eye

Other Thoughts: Few months back did the 6350 6 core i thought 6 cores at 4.0 would FLY..What a JOKE the thing even with 2 660 TI couldn't play Ultra many games i had to cut back to 1600 res. and then crank up the effects or it would crash. Now that i see how fast this is i will NEVER Buy A.M.D. again. I had a very good M.B. at 1866 ram

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: This is my first build, and I must say... this CPU is a good choice. Its nice having a system where the bottleneck isn't the cpu. Im still in the process of putting this thing on a full load for overclocking, but so far... Im very please.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value for gaming

Pros: Overclocks very easily. I run it at 4 GHz though it is easily stable up to 4.4-4.5. For gaming my rig is already GPU limited at the stock speed so overclocking my CPU doesn't affect it much. Because of that, I imagine it could handle multiple GPUs. Great deal for the price

Cons: No hyperthreading, but not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Running:

Asrock extreme 4 Z97

6,317 Firestrike 3DMark score (all stock speeds)

Draws 80 W under load, ~20 W on average
