5 out of 5 eggsI can not stress how nice this chip is.

Pros: this chip is fast, but then again the hardware helps, I have I7s I use at work that are not near as fast as this chip.
I made this purchase for a ROG build.

Ibwould recommend this chip.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel

Pros: +Low Cost
+Easy Install
+Good performance
+Hyper-threading added to i5 family

Cons: None after 1.5 years

Other Thoughts: After 2012 I started purchasing intel cpus only. Although I never had a issue with AMD cpus i personally like Intel more and since changing I haven't experienced any issues here either. The Inel i5 is marketed towards those who need more power than a basic pc can provide but not overkilling with the powerful i7.

Intel's i5-4660k can eat through current and future titles with ease.
Boot-times with SSD's are blazing fast
Day to day tasks will show no resistance as you plow through your daily computing;.

Intel hits a home run with this cpu, I greatly recommend this cpu to anyone new or experienced to pc builds.

5 out of 5 eggsBest CPU on the Market!

Pros: Best 'Bang for Your Buck'. This is the best gaming CPU on the market today. Most games do not utilize Hyper-Threading which is the only difference from the popular i7 4790k. In BF4 this CPU shows the same FPS, maybe 1-2 FPS less at times, as the i7 4790k at stock speeds with the same configurations. Why pay an extra $100 for 1-2 FPS?

This was a recent upgrade from my old Core 2 Duo Q6600 (never overclocked) which I got back in 2007. I build my system to last and more than confident this CPU will exceed all expectations. As shared above, my Q6600 was never overclocked; though, if I need to the Devil's Canyon will allow me to OC this CPU without a problem.

Cons: Hyper-Threading would be nice and the drop to 3.5GHz compared to it's big brother the i7 4790k at 4.0GHz is sad. I would have liked to see this CPU hold the 4.0GHz clock speed as well.

5 out of 5 eggsi5 Devil's Canyon

Pros: Excellent processor. Rates 7.7 on Win7's Experience Index. Runs fairly cool, even with the provided CPU cooler.

Cons: I really doubt it could be overclocked with the supplied heatsink/fan without seriously high temps.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Overclocked to stable 4.5 Ghz using Asus automatic overclocking, Hyper 212 Evo, and four case fans in a Corsair Carbide 500R case. I am completely new to overclocking and I know that there are better ways to do it than using Asus's automatic methods, but I have this thing reliable at 4.5 Ghz without any serious knowledge about voltages! It's so easy it is almost criminal, and that is a good thing.

Cons: Price, of course, is a bit higher than AMD's offerings for similar performance.

Other Thoughts: I bought this CPU for its efficiency and OC potential, and it's delivering. I also bought it because I didn't need an i7 (from what I read, an i7 really isn't necessary for most gaming) and instead could put the money I saved into an SSD (HUGE upgrade) and better graphics card. I'm glad I did.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the Extra Cost

Pros: Lightning fast speed, decent temps, and integrated graphics

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is a great processor, and mine is overclocked mildly at 4.2 ghz. I get about 27 c° on idle with a 212 hyper evo, 5 case fans, and an a31 thermaltake chaser case. You will not regret shelling out the extra money for intel.

5 out of 5 eggsi5-4690K

Pros: This chip just loves to OC? Price $100 less than an i7, but is running at 4.1Ghz on stock fan/heat-sink and just barely warm under heavy load?

Cons: Haven't found one yet?

Other Thoughts: Planted this on a Gigabyte G1-Sniper Z97 board, and it seems to be a very good match-up? Once it's burned in for a month or so, may get a bigger fan/heat-sink and then do some serious over-clocking. And get 16Gb of fast memory?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cpu for gaming!

Pros: Switched over from an fx 8350 trying Intel for the first time. Wow! what a huge difference in gaming this thing makes. Went from playing wow at 30-45 frames on ultra @1080p to 95-110! Also fps in h1z1 on ultra increased dramatically! Love this CPU! Works great with my gtx 970 GPU.

Cons: That I didn't go with Intel sooner.

4 out of 5 eggsHigh bang; high buck

Pros: Fast. Overclocks for more. Future-resistant.

Cons: Expensive compared to similar-performing chips. Not noticeably faster than the previous generation, so an "upgrade" isn't worth it unless you're gaining other motherboard features.

Other Thoughts: In most applications, even a hyperthreaded i3 will offer similar performance. This is one of those "what-if" purchases where spending less on the CPU and more on other components might produce a more obviously "better" PC. This means though, that it should be a very future-resistant chip.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat chip

Pros: great performing chip. unfortunately mine was a terrible overclocker, and topped out at 4.2ghz, no amount of vcore or setting tweaking would get it over that point. but that's not intel's fault that it was a bad overclocker, just luck of the draw. Still at 4.2ghz its one amazing a chip

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: great chip, just know that just because it's a DC refresh chip does not guarantee it will hit 4.7ghz on an overclock. From what i can tell the i5-4690k doesn't clock up as well or consistently as the i7-4790k
