5 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: Low power consumption.

Unlocked multiplier.

Easy overclock to 4.6 with a Hyper 212 EVO in an Asus Z97-E, didn't even have to play with voltage settings, all auto.

Fits into a socket that supports PCI-e 3 and SATA 3

Cons: BARELY outperforms my OLD i7 920 that is overclocked to 3.33 GHz.

Only scores a 7.6 in win 7 WEI (same as my i7 920 @ 3.33 GHz).

At stock clocks in Passmark Performance Test it only scores a total of 0.8% higher than a 6 year old i7 920 @ 3.33 GHZ

Other Thoughts: I was told this chip would be "5 X faster" than my old i7 920 that is overclocked to 3.33 GHz by a certain someone on tomshardware forum. This proved to be a fallacy.

Even with the new 4690K overclocked @ 4.6GHz it scores only 28% higher (overall) in the CPUMark than the old OC'd 920. In real world testing you cannot tell the difference for the most part.

What this chip does allow is the use of the newer USB, PCI-e and SATA versions which is really what I was after anyways.

The fact that it pulls about half the Watts of the older i7 920 chip is just a bonus. This thing never gets above 64 degrees C @ 4.6 GHz, whereas the 920 can hit around 75 C @ 3.33 GHZ (all temps listed are at MAX load after a few hours).

The Asus Z97-E with this CPU boots way faster than my old work board did as well.

All in all, I feel that this chip was worth the upgrade for 209 bones.

5 out of 5 eggsi5-4690K

Pros: Very fast O/C'd to 4.3, and very cool with my H110 liquid cooler.. Was going to get the i7-4790K but friends told me this would be fine, and they were right.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Save some money and buy this.

5 out of 5 eggsSpeechless!

Pros: Great Overclocking.

Low Temps.

Fast.

Fast.

Fast.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Coming from a 8350. This thing is 100 times better during games.

I no longer get the Fps dips as i did with my 8350. Even at the same Speeds this Cpu is faster for gaming. I may go back to AMD in the near future but for now this is the best CPU atm.

4 out of 5 eggsIntel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I54690K

Pros: So far this has been a good CPU runs cool at default settings and low power consumption.

Cons: I hardy consider this an upgrade from my (Intel i5 750 2.6 - OC 4ghz 1156) more like a side step in performance synthetic benchmarks show significant improvement real-time use (opening and running programs/games have no real improvement unless I run my i5 750 at default settings) aside from the temp’s and power consumption not too impressed for maybe a 10-20% improvement over all. I have yet to OC this CPU to see its full potential.

Other Thoughts: Current build:
GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK
Intel Core i5-4690K
Corsair Neutron 256gig
WD velociraptor 250gig x3 RAID 0 r/w @ 100mb test SMOKES the SSD, R/W = 1k+/400+ Seq on crystalmark
16 gig Corsair Vengeance 1600
MSI GTX680OC
Corsair HX 1050 pwr
Corsair H80i
Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced

MBO CPU setup was to replace:
MSI P55-GD65 (1156)
Intel i5 750 2.6 - OC 4ghz
Corsair Neutron 256gig
WD velociraptor 250gig x3 RAID 0 r/w @ 100mb test, R/W = 500+/400+ Seq on crystalmark (SATA2)
16 gig Corsair Vengeance 1600
MSI GTX680OC
Corsair HX 1050 pwr
Corsair H80i / Air cooled with CM Hype212plus which in same tower made about a 5-8c MAX temp difference from the H80i both never got over low60c
Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced

5 out of 5 eggs4690k + ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer

Pros: Bought a 4690K and a ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer to go with a few weeks ago after my current motherboard died(original i7 920 board) so I was long due for an upgrade. Havent had a single problem yet or crash with the new system up and running.

Havent really done much OCing due to the fact Im still using the stock cooler(waiting to get a corsair H110), though I have tried the 4ghz setting in the BIOS. I wouldnt recommend it with the stock cooler, as running at 4ghz in BF4 I was approaching 90C so I just set it back at stock. Not a knock on the stock cooler, as those arent meant to be used when youre overclocking lol.

Also a big + to newegg. The price on both the 4690k and asrock board I bought dropped under two weeks from when I purchased and they refunded me the difference.

Cons: About the only con I can thing of so far is that the stock hsf leaves pretty much no room for overclocking, which is kind of funny considering this processor was specifically designed for that.

5 out of 5 eggsFastest i5 on the market

Pros: Have been running this cpu for 3 months already and still amazes me evedyday!
Super easy to overclock this chip to 4.7Ghz on air, with low 40C temps at dull load. I just bought the Hyper Evo for 19.00 works AWESOME!

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: With some arctic silver and the CoolerMaster evo 212, I was able to push this to 4.6 GHz with no problems. Paired with some fast memory and my GTX 970 Superclocked Vid card from EVGA, I have a beast machine for sure!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Man, don't waste your time on i7's. Save the dollars and get this bad boy. Spend a little bit on a nice HSF and some arctic silver and you'll never know you didn't have the i7.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid cpu

Pros: Fast. Cool. Efficient.

Nice, easy OC to 4.2 Ghz at only 1.1 volts. I know for a fact that I could push it much further with ease, but I'm enjoying the low wattage and max temps in low 50s on air.

Cons: Came with a dinky chunk of scrap for a heatsink. Get something to make this cpu feel loved, and it will love you back.

Other Thoughts: Coming off of my old AMD 965BE, this cpu doesn't FEEL that much faster during average workloads or in games, but I feel better knowing that my cpu won't be bottle-necking my new GTX 970.
