5 out of 5 eggsFast and cool

Pros: Overclocking beast! The Devil's Canon revision of Haswell has made this baby run cooler, giving it more OC potential than the competition. I'm able to get this piece of silicon to 4.5Ghz at 1.2v, running around 30-40c idle and 60c in stress testing.

Cons: Sort of expensive.

Other Thoughts: Leave the uncore/ring core at stock(not auto since it will mess up the voltage in some cases). It doesn't add much performance compared to vcore.

5 out of 5 eggsno complaints

Pros: For what you get, it's reasonably priced. It's improved over Ivy Bridge a bit. definitely over the top compared to Lynnfield and smacks down anything with the AMD label. It runs cool - at least with a nice after-market cooler. It's Intel. To me, Intel means I'll be able to use this CPU for many years before upgrade. It's way more CPU than I need - even for gaming. My last CPU still works just fine (i7 860) but I wanted SATA III, M.2, USB 3 and PCIE 3. So, I needed a new Mobo and a new CPU. Win7 WEI = 7.7 on my system at stock speed. This CPU is my bottleneck - everything else rates 7.9. All it means, really, is that my other system components are not really holding back my CPU within the currently available tech.

Cons: Doesn't have the same stock speed as the i7-4790K out of the box.

Other Thoughts: I have no buyer's remorse for this CPU at all. I have an i3 as well @ 3.4 Ghz with HT (i3 3240) in an office machine. It would suit my existing needs - even gaming - just as well as this i5. Intel's single-core capability and efficency is superior.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Well it's an intel, its fast, it can get faster, paired with a good video card ram and an ssd this thing flies.

Cons: Gets hot use a water cooler.

Other Thoughts: I'm running it at 4.1 ghz according to my motherboards optimized defaults and there is really no need to go higher but i have taken it up to 4.8 GHz just to see if i could notice a difference, I didn't. I mostly game so there's no need to overclock.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!

Pros: Overclocked to 4.6 with ASUS AI Suite 3 easily. Topped out at 67c on a Push/Pull CNPS 10X Performa Zalamn tower cooler after 28 hours on Prime95 in a Lian Li Case. Using 4 COUGAR 12CM CFG fans, 2 on cooler and 1 on front of case (intake) and 1 on back of case (exhaust) Perfect gaming CPU, no need for the i7 if all you are doing is gaming.

Paired with a EVGA GTX 970 SSC and 16 GB of G.Skill Sniper 1866 DDR3. 2x Intel 730 SSD 240GB in RAID 0 and EVGA Black 750 PSU.

Couldn't be happier!

Cons: Cons section on Newegg is still mandatory.

Other Thoughts: Stock cooler can be recycled.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat cpu

Pros: fast and handles multiple applications at once.

Cons: It will be much cheaper in the future just like all pc hardware.

Other Thoughts: This cpu came with this "http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227596". that I bought from newegg. I was a big AMD fan in the past but feel they really need to step up their game.

3 out of 5 eggsa bit "cheap"...a bit dissapointing

Pros: Fast....at least a little faster than the 2500k it replaced.

Cons: Unlike the 2500k, this cpu seems to have been made with significant cost savings. I realized that only after running prime95, on stock speeds, only to see that temp would shoot up from 30C to 60C within seconds. Mind you, this is on a very capable custom H2O system. In my disbelief, I reapplied thermal compound 3 times (1st Gelid, then Zalman, then Arctic Silver 5 all with same results)...Then, after a bit of searching, found out that Intel went with TIM for the interface of the cores with the CPU cap, instead of solder like they did on the 2500k (all of sandy bridge for that matter). this is a bit disappointing, given that the Devil's Canyon is supposed to be the overclocker's dream...or such..obviously, this TIM mess puts a potato in that pipe.

Other Thoughts: my old 2500k would never even see 50C with my cooling solution under hours of prime95, so it's pretty lame that Intel cheaped out...but, I guess, I should have researched that instead of assuming solder was used...it's still crazy fast, but also cheaply made, so -1 egg. I bought a z87 mobo super cheap, so that's how i ended up with this...but, if you're about to buy this thing, all i can say is don't.
