5 out of 5 eggsExcellent CPU

Pros: - Low idle temps
- Easily overclocked

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: I have a Corsair H110i GTX AIO LC and this CPU idles at 28c. I currently have it overclocked stable at 4.6 GHz on 1.252 VCore. At medium load, like gaming, temps average 40-45c. At full load under testing/benchmarking temps are ~70c.

This is one of the X chips from Vietnam and it's a gem. I couldn't be happier with this CPU.

4 out of 5 eggsFast and Hot

Pros: Good speed. Still anticipating overclocking it but...

Cons: Hot. Very hot. I can admit my application of the stock fan was less than ideal. But it's on there tight. And without an aftermarket thermal paste and fan I'm getting 85 Celsius (185 F) on full load in a 19 Celsius (67 F) room.
I'm sure an aftermarket fan and some arctic silver will help a lot. But still, that's very hot for stock speeds. No way I'll overclock this proc till I have a cooler. I mean, at that temperature, I'm nervous to even play a game. 85 is WAY too high for it's longevity.

Other Thoughts: Update. I've now received a Hyper 212 Evo and arctic silver. This dropped temps a lot. Things run at stock speed around 55 Celcius though which is a touch high considering the quality of the Evo and paste, and the fact our house is so cool in the winter (19 Celcius). I overclocked to 4.4Ghz no problem, kept voltage as low as 1.25 for that, and most agree that this can be very safely bumped up to 1.35 volts without frying so long as adequate cooling is provided. I hope to get an additional fan or two, wait a few months for the arctic silver to more fully cure, and then see if I can't push it to 4.6 or more, stable.

5 out of 5 eggsNo surprises

Pros: Works great on a MSI Z97 motherboard.

Cons: For $30, i replaced the heat sink with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. During testing, the processor would exceed 70 degrees C with the stock heat sink. Once I replaced the heat sink, it ran around 50C. Much better to extend the life of the processor.

5 out of 5 eggsCANNOT BEAT THIS CPU

Pros: -good price-performance ratio
-runs cool even with stock cooler
-boosts up to 3.9 GHz (and still runs cool with stock cooler)
-overclockable can get easy 4.4 GHz+ with aftermarket cooler

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: great for high end gaming rig, no need to upgrade for a long long time

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful.

Pros: Great cpu. Best at this price/performance range. Fast, stays cool, and handles everything I throw it at so far. I've had since August 2015 and it's been working like a charm ever since.

Cons: Nada.

Other Thoughts: If you're planning to have an Intel build, and are looking for fast, reliable cpu without spending hundreds of dollars, go with this one. Just make sure you get an after-market cooler, don't bother with Intel stock coolers.

5 out of 5 eggsi5-4690K

Pros: This chip just loves to OC? Price $100 less than an i7, but is running at 4.3Ghz on stock fan/heat-sink and just barely warm under heavy load?

Cons: Haven't found one yet?

Other Thoughts: Planted this on a Gigabyte G1-Sniper Z97 board, and it seems to be a very good match-up? Once it's burned in for a month or so, may get a bigger fan/heat-sink and then do some serious over-clocking. And get 16Gb of fast memory?

updated: 1/26/16: Running great! Have a new water cooling system on it, runs ~15C idle, ~49C under heavy load, at 4.5Ghz. Bumped vcore to 1.2volts.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power, and easy to install

Pros: Runs very well, and the heatsink it comes with is really good for a standard fan. Helps me run games at ultra quality with ease

Cons: Nothing in particular

Other Thoughts: Would definitely buy again, much better than my old intel i7.
