5 out of 5 eggs!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: This thing is like having a cheetah with a rocket stuffed up its bottom inside my computer. I upgraded from an A8-6600K apu, which previously paired with my R9-270X "Toxic" could barely run a game like Ryse son of rome on low with a fluctuating framerate of about 20-30, now I am playing with everything but motion blur and AA set to HIGH at an unwavering 60 (I'm using a 3rd party app to inject SMAA) Computer itself has handled all tasks without hitch. Safe to say I don't want to go back to AMD until they give us something that can actually run games without massively fluctuating framerates.

Cons: None as of yet *Fingers Crossed, Touch wood and all that*

Other Thoughts: Makes me weep with joy.

5 out of 5 eggsHandles anything I need

Pros: This processor/my system handles anything I throw at it with aplomb. Gaming, browsing, music/video processing, etc. It really is fast and threads well. It makes everything quick and easy. My temps have gotten a little high, so I replaced the stock fan with a coolermaster 212. Made temps much more acceptable.

Cons: Stock fan (which came with its own pre-applied thermal paste) is ok if you're using it for normal computer tasks. Get a heatsink/fan if you are going to game or oc it. No matter what, it's great if you don't have the budget or need for an i7.

4 out of 5 eggsintel i5 4690k

Pros: unlockable overclocking
with a good custom liquid cooling loop in optimum conditions you can OC this thing well over 4.5ghz. That is an extra 1 ghz over stock speeds.
This is the most processor you will ever need for a gaming rig. Getting anything more is just about bragging rights instead of actual performance improvements.

Cons: nothing that hasnt been pointed out by Jay of Jayztwocents youtube channel.

The instruction booklet says its only compatible with 1600mhz ram. I dont know if thats a typo, but its not true.

Other Thoughts: Its a 2014 chip in July (as of this review) You know what that means? Intel is about to release their new cpus. Although CPUs really dont fall in price. Be warned that the updated version of this processor will be available in the early fall. This is not why I deducted an egg though.

The included fan, is pretty useless (and noisy). Why would intel waste money sending a stock cooler that over 95% of people purchasing are going to OC?

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Love this CPU. Upgraded from an FX-6300 last fall and it made a huge difference. No bottlenecks in modern games unless in extremely unoptimized situations, like AC cities and GW2 zergs.

Cons: No hyperthreading

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried overclocking yet, but with my Azza Solano 1000R case and stock cooler, I haven't seen temps go higher than 62C, even in very CPU-intensive games.

5 out of 5 eggsOh my lanta

Pros: Fast
Good thermal with the redesign in devils canyon
Efficient with its turbo clock without ever lagging behind the curve

Cons: Absolutely none

Other Thoughts: It's no i7 so obviously no hyperthreading where it counts such as rendering, BUT, for gaming, this thing is insane. Coming from an AMD Phenom II X4 965 which I've ran into the ground since 2009 and having a GTX 970 SSC with above marginal performance in FPS, it is amazing just how much my GPU was being held back.

Now in most modern titles where even with the card I'd have to keep my settings on medium to high, can just now full out Ultra on anything and it performs beautifully. Half the things I throw at the CPU it doesn't even stress about taking the jobs in stride.

I'm incredibly happy with this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsThe gamer's choice

Pros: 1. Runs ridiculously cool under H100i GTX

2. Great performance in benchmarks/games

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I put this cpu under a Corsair H100i GTX with the stock TIM and installed the fans the way Corsair recommends(as intake, no push/pull). Average idle temp at stock clocks is 25c. Highest recorded temp after several hours of Dirt Rally was 42c.

My system:

Mobo: MSI Gaming 5 z97
Cpu: i5 4690k
Gpu: XFX DD R9 290
Ram: HyperX Fury Black series (16gb)
Psu: Rosewill Photon 1050
Aio: Corsair H100i GTX
Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (w/ window)
