5 out of 5 eggsPerfect budget, or placeholder CPU.

Pros: Much faster than you'd think, amazing price, integrated graphics are superb.

Cons: None that I found

Other Thoughts: I built my first PC just over a month ago, and bought this CPU just as a placeholder until I could afford something more powerful. I eventually did replace it, but I was almost regretted it, because this thing was so much more than I'd expected for such a low price.

When I originally purchased it, I was nervous of stuttering or incompatibility, but it handled everything perfectly. Paired with a strong GPU, (AMD Radeon R9 280x in my case), this thing pumped out 60 FPS minimum -- even without overclocking. Running with just the integrated graphics, I played some games 30 FPS + with medium graphics.

I won't lie, this thing won't run GTA V without performance issues (stutters, objects loading slowly), and from what I understand (I haven't tested it,) Far Cry 4, but any game, even fancier games, from before last year will run just fine.

So, if you're looking for a budget-build CPU, or something to put in there until you can afford a better one, this is your guy.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Fantastic little chip, I have mine overclocked via Turbo settings in BIOS to x40 multi (4.0Ghz) at 1.225v prime95 stable and the highest temp on the stock cooler I have seen is 70c.

Idle is around 40c with stock cooler (in Florida) and average load is 60c.

I play a lot of demanding games with it like planetside2 and TERA with no issues at max settings using a HD5770

Cons: It doesn't make me breakfast

Other Thoughts: for under $70 and this thing is on par (if not better) with my previous Phenom II X4 940BE and it doesn't heat up my house like a giant space heater.

Also, you can use the Turbo settings in the BIOS to select the Turbo frequency multiplier instead of using the base multiplier to overclock it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Performance For Price!

Pros: - Great for the price.
- Can overclock to amazing speeds!
- Strong Cores which can beat a Quad Core AMD FX processor easily!
- Even without overclocking, its amazing.

Cons: - Only 2 Cores, so this processor won't last long into the future, If I were you, I would save the extra money for an Intel i5.
- Due to only 2 cores, it makes GTA V stutter allot, but you can fix that by capping fps at 40fps.

Other Thoughts: BANG 4 BUCK!

5 out of 5 eggsFun chip to oVeRcLoCk!

Pros: Powerful Single Core Pentium on Steroids if you overclock! Stable 4.4 GHz on 1.2V running on air 212 Cooler Master. I've got max temps at 60C under full load. I have this paired up with the MSI Z97 PC Mate. Had it running for a while at 4.7 GHz but the temps are too high for me. Blue screened too much at 4.8 GHz. After running passmark and cinebench for over 24 hours the 4.4 should suffice. Put this chip in my movie/shopping/surfing rig and light duty applications. Love this little thing!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: You cannot beat the performance of this budget chip for the price!

5 out of 5 eggsInsane Budget Processor

Pros: First of all, don't let the price fool you. If you only need a couple of processor cores, this thing can't be beaten. Simply grab a board that can overclock it, and easily push it over 4GHz.

Secondly is that even at high overclocks you'll have difficulty overheating it. I was able to push 4.2GHz on the stock cooler and still got temps of 65C.

Personally used this to run a Minecraft server under headless Linux. Even under one of the heaviest mod packs, this thing barely has to try to keep up. It's an absolute monster.

Cons: It's really hard to find anything bad with this chip, but there was one thing that I could find. It was that Intel decided to use the cheap thermal paste under the internal heat spreader again. Not a major issue with this chip due to low heat production, but it can be fixed by delidding if you're gutsy.

Other Thoughts: At the usual $70 cost, a person could make a seriously inexpensive little desktop or server with one of these and push it quite far. It's simply the best thing you can get at this price range unless you absolutely need more than 2 cores. Works well for learning overclocking as well since it has an unlocked multiplier and heat is easy to manage.

5 out of 5 eggs4.6ghz for $70? Yes please!

Pros: Great CPU that overclocks extremely well and easily. I'm easily able to get 4.6-4.7ghz clock speeds with a small voltage bump and multiplier increase. It idles at about 34C and under load, gets no hotter than 60C or so with CM Evo.

Cons: Doesn't make sandwiches. Really, for $70, you cannot go wrong. Stock speeds are disappointing and it's only two cores but that's not why we buy this.

Other Thoughts: Many will say it isn't quad core, blah, blah, blah. I'm using mine for gaming and it runs everything I throw at it just fine with at least medium/high quality. Mainly I play Realflight 7 and FSX and it handles both of those like butter using an older HD 7700 vid card.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Dont let the price and the amount of cores fool you on this little guy. Yea the saying "you get what you pay for" may be true on most things, but with the G3258 anniversary edition, you get that plus more. I originally got this as a place holder for my new gaming build, but its been doing such an amazing job so far, im going to keep it for when 4 cores truly become a necessity to even play games. Its fast, snappy, and plays all my games just fine. Also, its unlocked which means you can overclock this puppy like crazy. If you do get this processor, do yourself a favor and PLEASE overclock it, thats where it truly shines. With my MSI z87 gaming motherboard, all i did was hit the OC Genie button and BAM, it bumped it from 3.2ghz to 4.3ghz with just a push of a button on the stock cooler.

Cons: Are you kidding me?

Other Thoughts: Its an unlocked dual core for 70 bucks that performs nearly the same sometimes even better on single threaded tasks compared to its most expensive counterparts. Its obviously not a work station chip, so stop docking off eggs just because it doesn't perform workstation tasks up to par. For gaming and every day use its what its meant for and boy does it deliver. Stop reading this, and just get it already!

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all-good value

Pros: What can I say, it does what its supposed to. The unlocked feature lets me play my games reasonably well. I bought mine used elsewhere and saved a few bucks. everything else was bought from newegg. Mine says Costa Rica, I hear that's a good thing. Idles at 30-33C. Under load on prime 95 it runs between 60-65C with the stock cooler. I used the asus built in automatic overclocking which set it to 4.4ghz and ran fine with the stock cooler.

Cons: Cooling fan could be better.

Other Thoughts: I wish Intel would give us an unlocked I-3.

My other computer has a phenom dual core which scored 8000 in 3DMark skydiver. The 3258 gave me 4000 points higher using the same graphics card and double the physics score.

my rig:
g3258 with stock cooler
asus z97 pro gamer motherboard
Kingston hyperx ddr3 1600 (2x4gb)
enermax ostrog gt case blue fans, awesome case btw
evga 750G2 power supply
1tb hard drive
dvd burner
evga gtx 650ti boost

designed for future upgrades in cpu and gpu.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap overclocker!

Pros: Best unlocked cpu for its price. Overclocked it from 3.2 to 3.7 with a very very small difference in temp on the stock cooler. This is seriously the best cpu a GAMER could use when your on a budget. I only game so I love it...for now. :D

Cons: Dual core. This is a great cpu to overclock for some GAMING. I don't recommend this if you use your computer for production work.

Gaming good! Production bad!

Other Thoughts: Under load, my cpu temp is in the low 60's. This is with the stock cooler and 2 case fans (1 intake in front, 1 exhaust in back) overclocked to 3.7. I take care of my gear so I'm going to wait until I upgrade my case with more fans and an aftermarket cpu cooler until i try for the 4.5ghz range.

5 eggs for being
