5 out of 5 eggsIt can play GTA 5

Pros: Great price! Amazing overclocking potential!
Can run GTA 5 even though the game wants quad core!

Cons: Playing GTA 5 will push this CPU to it's limits! It's not the smoothest experience, every once and awhile you'll get some hiccups.
Gets louder if you max out the overclocking. I think it's the fan kicking in.
Hyperthreading would have been nice.

Other Thoughts: Paired it with the Anniversary board from AS-Rock, so overclocking as been a breeze.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: -Cheap
-Fast
-Overclockable

Cons: -Can't overclock past 3.8Ghz

Other Thoughts: This is an awesome chip for 70 dollars. I have to knock an egg off because of it's failure to overclock. The chip performs well at stock speed. I am sure that if I loaded this CPU with enough Voltage I could reach the 4.2Ghz mark I was shooting for but I am so freaking scared of frying my CPU so I am not going to do that until I get a better cooler and expensive thermal paste.

5 out of 5 eggsG3258 Haswell Dual-Core

Pros: As much as I love AMD, this thing is too good to pass up for the money until multi-core utilization is more common (especially for gaming)...

So much overclocking potential, even can compete with 4th gen I-7 in specific areas when overclocked

Great value combos, allowing for amazing gaming budget systems

Low wattage allowing again, for reduced costs on say, less powersupply (although be careful about skimping here...)

Runs cool, even with modest overclock on stock cooling (again, reduced savings)...

For a budget build, I chose this with a combo GA-B85M-DS3H and got a sweet deal, can't be happier...new egg had this shipped and to my door extremely fast (just make sure you check and that your CC info is correct or you might not know it was declined).

Fan runs cool and pretty quiet...copper core means better transfer of heat.

Cons: Aside from potential motherboard issues, that are user error I believe (yes, I am blaming myself here), the heat sink is a little confusing, and I would suggest leaving the fan cable alone so you don't damage the wires...make sure you understand the left / right locking of the heat sink, which is confusing

Other Thoughts: I am going to further look in to better transfer of heat by smoothing out the heat sink (maybe even CPU cover) and making sure my case has adequate holes and fans in/out are balanced...also need to bench it for stability.

4 out of 5 eggsIts ok.

Pros: Bought it in a combo with a MSI Z97 PC Mate. It was a bargain.

Cons: Disappointed since I can't get it to overclock. It seems to only want to work in stock. I've done tons of research. I was running i3 540 decided I want to move myself into a position to buy a more expensive i3/i5/i7 later. Somewhat regretting it now. Some games just stutter and don't run quite as well. I did a clean install of my OS afterwards. Tried updating my Bios to latest.

Other Thoughts: Hoping I can get this thing to overclock soon.

1 out of 5 eggserrors out

Pros: cheap,
Boots windows, will allow me to play most games.

Cons: keeps operating system running but can't play anything with any kind of load on it. My GF has one as well and plays game with oc ability just fine all the way to 4.5 ghz where as mine only does 3.8 before it locks up and reboots windows with all sorts of errors.

Other Thoughts: Maybe mine was one of the bad bunch but with the serious lack of oc ability and the extreme problems while trying to play games i'd recommend saving for something with a little bit more capability.

5 out of 5 eggsIf only I had known...

Pros: Price/performance = unbeatable. Got mine for $56 at an online auction. Running at 3.6 with Xigmatek Gaia - never hits 50c. Idles @ 19c on silent mode. & about 40c at load. I also have a i5 4690K running @ 3.7. I can't tell a real world gameplay performance difference. This scores 7.2 in Win 7 WEI. But that's a relative overall kind of score. This cpu rocks on single-thread performance. It beats AMD FX 6300, i7 860 and i5 760 in most game scenarios due to this. Those CPUs beat the G3258 in "heavy" multi-threaded tasks but - for home, small business, schoolwork, web surfing and most gaming, this CPU beats those - it's 50% faster! I also have an i3 3240 and this is about the same I OC'd the i3 3240 to 3.5 (100 mhz) by bumping the FSB 100 mhz. I can't see any difference in their performance. Possibly if you were in a big raid in WoW, using Ventrilo or Team Speak and you were web surfing at the same time, you "might" see a difference with this compared to a quad core. If you want to build a great machine (seriously great) and inexpensively, you should give this a hard look before you get anything AMD or an expensive Intel quad.

Cons: None - except I bought an i5 when I didn't need it and wasted $200 when I could've built my gaming rig with this CPU and spent $100 more on a better GPU and still saved more than $100 overall. An R9 285 or GTX 960 would rock with this CPU!

Other Thoughts: If you want a great home/office/schoolwork PC you can't go wrong. AMD can't touch this. You likely won't be able to tell the difference between this and a $200-$350 CPU unless you are video editing animating/rendering etc. I bought a used Z97 higher end ATX mobo (Gigabyte Ultra Durable) for $55 and it's great!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU for the money

Pros: - Low cost
- Overclockable
- Superior single core performance

Cons: - Only dual-core

Other Thoughts: This processor is amazing. I have it running with the stock cooler now -- 4.1GHz @ 1.15v. The temperature maxes out at around 62C under load.

Would definitely buy again!

Pros: Runs Portal 2 max settings without dedicated graphics, which I expected it was capable of, but not at 200+fps.
cools very easily, nice and stable.

4 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: It's cheap and it works.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Bought as part of cheap gaming rig. Performs well for the price point.
