5 out of 5 eggsWicked Sick budget CPU!

Pros: - Can get ~40-60FPS in Arma 3 paired with an R7 260X on normal settings and 3KM view distance on a 4:3 monitor
- Will run almost every game released before 2012 without any issues.
- MONSTER strong single-core/thread performance in basic audio editing applications.

Cons: - Unfortunately, this CPU is falling behind since newer games like Farcry 4, Witcher 3, GTA V, and Battlefront all need at least 4 threads to run stably.

Other Thoughts: This CPU can be used for almost any kind of build, except for ultra-settings gaming, servers, and graphics workstations. Upgraded from this to an i3-4360 and put it in my mom's general-use PC since the Celeron in it was garbage.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Only Intel processor priced at less than $100 that is unlocked. Overclocked to 3.5 Ghz with stock cooler Plenty fast for surfing the net and watching videos. Single thread benchmark better than many CPUs with four cores.

Cons: Designed for DDR3-1333 MHZ RAM. Buying faster RAM won't gain you any speed.

Other Thoughts: Built my back-up machine around this CPU. Using an MSI PC-MATE Z97 mobo and 16 Gb of Crucial RAM No complaints.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap
Low power draw
Huge over clocking potential

Cons: Its a dual core. So you can't do too many things at once with it. But even overclocked it seems to do well

Other Thoughts: Pretty speedy cpu, for the people im assuming that are curious yes it will run minecraft lol. I've had it overclocked at 4.6ghz on a z97 chipset for a solid 6 months under an aio cooler, runs beautifully. I run all my games maxed out at more than 60 fps. It most definitely keeps up. And stays really cool (given it was liquid cooled and in a full tower with plenty of air flow). Its power draw is awesomely low so you won't need a huge psu for your system (depending on your gpu setup) good buy for someone new to building computers or even an experienced pc builder.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little processor

Pros: Got this in a combo with a Gigabyte MB. I put it in an old case with some junk RAM and really liked it. So I got a new case, some new RAM, a new HDD and rescued an old PSU and optical drive off the shelf. Loaded Linux Mint 17.1 on it and I've been using it to rip all our huge stack of DVD's to storage. I'm amazed with the performance of this cheap processor.

Cons: None!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Overclocker

Pros: This thing lives up to its reputation in EVERY WAY, I hit 4.3ghz on air with absolutely NO problems. If you won't miss having > 2 threads, there really isn't anything better, there's NO bottleneck on any of my games, and for photo/video editing etc, the 4.3ghz just about makes up for the lack of threads. The best part is this gets you into a setup with a socket 1150 board, so you can upgrade to an i5/i7 later

Cons: None, really... you're getting two extremely overclocker friendly cores for less than 100 bucks

Other Thoughts: Buy two :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Excellent processor, I have for a long time been an AMD fan, but decided to cross over to intel due to better price/performance ratio and huge expanse of upgrade ability. This isn't really possible with AMD anymore.

This processor uses around 40watts, vs my amd phenom 140 watts, and this dual core faster.

The computer is incredibly snappy, and is quite a bit smoother with transitions.

I overclocked my setup to a modest 4ghz @ just under 1.2v

I don't have the best chip I havent been able to get this over 4.2ghz but frankly I couldn't careless, this $60 chip beats the 6 core phenom I use to have in 95% of tasks only losing in video processing, etc.

Cons: no cons for the price, you can't beat.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value/ But not for gaming

Pros: I purchased this to get back into overclocking with a more modern processor but not risk a more expensive option. This processor is an overclocking monster I had a stable overclock to 4.5 GHz at 1.25v the first day and it is still running.

Cons: Downsides? Only dual core and non-hyperthreaded. So many games that scale to more than 2 threads are still held back. Overall very happy though.

Other Thoughts: I am probably happy with my purchase because I didn't expect it to be the greatest gaming processor. If you are going to better game performance I recommend going with at least a 4 core I5 or better even if you give up the overclocking by going with a non-K 1150 processor. It holds back my MSI GTX-970 card it just can't feed it enough info for smooth play at high settings in the new games.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth it

Pros: At only 20$ more than the celeron cpu, this processing is definitely worth it. And the low power consumption makes it even better

87$, Pentium G3258 @ 4001 bench (
64$, celeron G1840 @ 2975 bench

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsBaby can run

Pros: -Unlocked
-Got it overclocked to 4.6Ghz @ 1.385v

Cons: -None (its just a dual-core no need for high expectations)

Other Thoughts: This thing screams speed in single threaded tasks (pretty much old games and emulators). I can run Zone of Enders on PCX2 @ 60fps with this baby clocked to 4.6Ghz (game is horrendous to run on weak IPC cpus). Played counter strike @ 60 fps unlike a phenom ii x4 965 @ 3.5Ghz.

Pretty much any game that doesn't take a horrendous hit in fps from not having enough cores is going to be great as the IPC is amazing. I downgraded to a Phenom II x4 965 and now I regret it due to its ipc being low (traded system to brother since he gamed much more than me).

Honestly this processor was a just a placeholder for an i7 broadwell (ikr), but the G3258 was just enough for me to not upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsBest value for low end intel

Pros: Price (low)

Single core performance is high (should be with only 2 cores)

Unlocked (overclockable)

Stays cool, even when overclocked on stock cooler

Low power consumption

Cons: None really, its the little cpu that could

Other Thoughts: great for entry level pc gaming (with gpu obviously) and general use, easy for new overclockers
