5 out of 5 eggsBlazing fast. Good for emulation

Pros: I basically purchased to build a cheap gaming PC. I have tested with several emulators including PCSX2, Dolphin, MAME, etc and it performs exceptionally well at high resolutions and no frame skip. I have it paired with an ASRock z97m motherboard, Radeon 6770 GPU and 8GB of Gskill ram. This cpu has exceeded my expectations.

Cons: As expected, it is not good at multitasking compared to my 6 core FX6300 setup. If you do video encoding, there are better options.

Other Thoughts: If you love emulation like I do, get this chip immediately! You won't be sorry.

5 out of 5 eggsFun little guy

Pros: I've only had this little guy plugged in for about a month now, but so far I've been amazed and greatly entertained. I was able to OC to 4.5GHz or so while stable, but with the stock cooler I wasn't going to keep it that way. Temps jumped to nearly 90 Celcius. He's nice and cozy now at about 4.2GHz just so he'll be sure to last a while.
Be INFORMED, there are tons of reviews on this fun chip. Don't go and buy this chip in an attempt to get i5 performance for less than a hundred dollars. You won't. This isn't a high end chip and doesnt deserve a massive liquid cooling system.
I bought this chip because I intend to upgrade and replace it later, and until then I'd like to have some fun. You could probably get one of these stable at 4.7GHz with the right cooling and some luck. But it's still not going to have hyperthreading and won't stand up compared to the i3 in many tests. If you're looking for something cheap to build a budget computer, that still let's you toy around with OC'ing however, then this is your chip.

Cons: There aren't really any cons for me at this point in ownership. I'll replace the cooling system with a high end one next Christmas, OC till the chip can barely handle it, and provided it lasts till the Christmas after, I'll likely get an i5 or something higher end.
Realize that while it's fun to see just how insanely fast such an inexpensive chip can go, it's not going to improve your integrated graphics performance, or help you boot in less than 5 seconds. It's a budget chip. Period. It's like having an electric engine on your bicycle that you can pump enough voltage into that you can do 55mph. That's cool. But it's no Harley driving down the freeway at 75 either.

Other Thoughts: If you are new to OCing and need experience understanding how it's done, BUY THIS CHIP. Most MoBos are offering nearly automatic OCing for this chip, and with how inexpensive it is, you won't be costing yourself $300 when you accidentally fry it.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic CPU!

Pros: I purchased this CPU because of its profound single core thread rating and its price per performance... it was unbeatable. Great for my heavily modded Minecraft server. The upgrade eliminated all lag and only runs around 65% with the server being highly populated. I paired this CPU with an ASUS H97i Plus, 8GB of memory and a Fractal Design node 304 Mini ITX case. Great high-quality hardware... runs flawlessly. Plan on purchasing a second G3258 for my third gaming build.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Great CPU, great price, great performance, low power consumption. Definitely a great purchase.

- Happy PC gaming!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome chip

Pros: I've got this little guy in a Plex + Windows Media Center Recording box...it transcodes the videos coming in and out and does general NAS work. It's great!!

I replaced the stock air cooler with the corsair H50i Silent and 3 x 120mm case fans.

On average it pulls 11 watts under 1-20% load, the max temps I've seen was 57C with an ambient room temp of 73F -- I stuck the box in the basement and it idles at 14C with a max temp of 35C

Overclocked stable to 4.2 Ghz without voltage changes, trying to stabilize at 4.5 right now.

Cons: None. For the price you couldn't ask for anything better. I've bought low-power AMD chips too for NAS/Plex boxes, and watt for watt this Intel is far superior.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this, and buy it again. I've never used an i3 so I can't compare the performance of each dollar for dollar.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performance

Pros: Very easy to overclock, even on the stock cooling, equal or greater single threaded performance with an i7

Cons: Only a dual core, but the fact that it's unlocked and only $70 makes up for this

Other Thoughts: If you're building a new gaming PC, I would strongly recommend this processor and a GTX 760 or R9 270X

5 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

Pros: More than gets the job done for a basic office computer, very inexpensive, unlocked.

Cons: None for the price and understanding that its not a high end gaming processor

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU for the money!

Pros: Great CPU for the price! Unlocked and overclocks out the wazoo (4.7 GHz with Hyper 212 cooler). Runs solid 60 FPS on BF4 on medium settings with a GTX 650 Ti Boost.

Cons: Needs more cores, hyperthreading, 100 PCI-E lanes, LED lights on the outside.....JK.....really....for the price, no cons. Great CPU to start with if you cannot afford the pricier ones like the 4790K.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Overclocked to 3.8 just by changing to 38 in the BIOS of a cheap ASROCK H81 board. No voltage or other BIOS changes, stock heat sink. Runs faster than typical I3 and even some stock I5s.
Idles at low 30s, gets into 50s under load. No other fans in the mATX case at all! Use onboard video.
CPU WEI is 7.3. Desktop Graphics 5.9

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: One of the best processors I have worked with
