5 out of 5 eggsEnough power for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Pros: Overclocks extremely well on air. I currently have it paired with a GTX 970 while I save up for an i5, but I honestly don't even need to update until I decide to play newer games. I'm getting 120-300 fps in cs:go with everything to the absolute max at 1080p, and cs:go is a cpu-intensive game.

Can't beat the price.

Cons: I would say dual-core, but only if the price was higher. This card does single-thread performance applications beautifully.

Other Thoughts: Much better than my old AMD Quad Core 3.4ghz when running this at 4.2ghz overclocked.

5 out of 5 eggsG3258 The LIttle Processor That Could!

Pros: I paired this G3258 with the Asrcck H97 Pro 4 and 16 Gigs of RAM. I had a desire to switch from an old dual xeon based server to a lower power system. I have this processor running at stock speed to power my Ubuntu Server 14.04 KVM Host. It is currently running 5 Virtual Machines:
1. Pfsense
2. Mythtv Master Backend with 6 Ethernet OTA HD Tuners
3. Mythtv Slave Backend with HDPVR Dishnet Setup
4. A PXE Server whcih serves all my Mythtv Frontends
5. A Windows 7 Ultimate running a Sagetv Server for the kiddos cartoons
Hosting these 5 virtual machines this cpu hardly ever runs at more than 800mhz and never more than 20% usage per core. the G3258 based system sips power, 25 watts while doing all this work!!!! This wattage is measured at the wall with a Killawatt meter. It has definetly met all my expectations and i will soon be moving my RAID5 MD device to the new server as well!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Hope this reviews helps other people with decision making. I had to do alot research to finially settle on the G3258 for my virtualization needs. It is also a major overclocker. I was able to overclock stable to 4.3GHZ @ 1.205v. It encodes video on par with my i7 870 at overclocked speeds. G3258 around 235fps for x264 with handbrake. the i7 at stock speed will do about 335fps for x264 with handbrake. The G3258 is a powerful processor for whatever application you choose. I could add many more virtual machines and jobs for the G3258 to do!

4 out of 5 eggsGet it if you are on a tight budget gaming pc.

Pros: I've had this cpu since February and it hasn't gave me any trouble so far. And I have a pretty good video card, but I mean I've played AC Unity, and the Witcher 3 and maybe it's my video card but I had 0 issues.

Cons: Not as fast or efficient as i5, or i7 gen but it is stable and dependable for someone on a tighter budget. Hasn't struggled on games, but having multiple programs restoring themselves while programs are starting up during a boot does slow it down quite a bit.

Other Thoughts: It is great for a gaming pc that is tighter budget, and all around solid cpu, BUT if you have the money to spend extra go for i5 or i7.

5 out of 5 eggsNot for everyone but....

Pros: Price price price!, Unlocked, stable, LGA1150
Purchased to upgrade from Athlon II X4 620, G3258 smokes the old AMD tech. Guides say that chips are equal but G3258 + ASROCK Z97 Anniversary MB is faster in everyday computer operation without overclock.

Cons: None yet
Others will say, this is a Pentium, older intel tech, wont play some games, dual core, blah blah blah. Not my concern already knew that BEFORE buying.

Other Thoughts: This chip is not for everyone, if you can afford i5 or i7 then thats your MUCH BETTER choice. For those looking to jump to Intel for a clearer upgrade path without spending a lot( I spent $150 for CPU and MB ) then this chip is for you. At the least its equal to my old AMD cpu and mb but it is not equal. System boots faster, lots of games are smoother. I think its more to do with newer tech, I got my AMD in '09.
I might try to overclock, probably not. Time to save for i7 now.

1 out of 5 eggsBluescreens

Pros: Loved it when I was not causing blue screens daily.

Cons: Had it for about 2 months now and noticed i got a blue screen very occasionally, maybe once a week. did not bother me because I thought it might of been a software error that i left alone. Unfortunately it was become progressively worse has become a daily occurrence.

Other Thoughts: I wish I could get a replacement but it has been a little over a month now.

3 out of 5 eggsfast and affordable

Pros: It's a fun chip but not for a serious gaming rig... No matter what the reviews say... It stutters on games like BF4 and COD.. Good for Starcraft and Diablo.. Games like that.

Cons: Weak modern performance

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, Just Great

Pros: Great Price
Great Performance for that price

Cons: Nada

Other Thoughts: Was time to upgrade my backup system and Intel at any price is the way to go. I run Win 8 and play a few games. This is well worth your time and money for a powerful budget backup system
