general information

Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core Desktop Processor

Punch up the power in everything you do with the Intel Core i7-5820K Desktop Processor. It delivers significant improvement in performance over previous generation processors, resulting in great system performance and responsiveness, strong security, and exceptional virtualization capability.

KEY FEATURES
general information

No-holds-barred Processor Capabilities

The 5th Gen Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E processor gives you the performance you need to create and think out of the box. It has up to six cores, and features a dedicated 6 x 256KB KB L2 cache. It runs at a base frequency of 3.3GHz, and can be accelerated to 3.6 GHz, thanks to Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. Intel Hyper-Threading Technology uses resources efficiently, enabling multiple threads to run on each core and increasing processor throughput. Now, you can run multi-threaded applications with noticeably fast speed, and perform multiple tasks with astounding responsiveness and smoothness.

general information

Robust Security

Start up your system safely. The Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E processor employs advanced security technologies – including Intel Identity Protection Technology, Intel Data Protection Technology (Intel AES New Instructions), and Execute Disable Bit Technology – to ensure maximum security.

general information

Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology

Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology is an advanced means of enabling high performance while meeting the power-conservation needs of mobile systems. Conventional Intel SpeedStep Technology switches both voltage and frequency in tandem between high and low levels in response to processor load. Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology builds upon that architecture using design strategies such as Separation between Voltage and Frequency Changes, and Clock Partitioning and Recovery.

Thermal Monitoring Technologies

Thermal Monitoring Technologies protect the processor package and the system from thermal failure through several thermal management features. An on-die Digital Thermal Sensor (DTS) detects the core's temperature, and the thermal management features reduce package power consumption and thereby temperature when required in order to remain within normal operating limits

Intel Virtualization Technology

Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) continues from the existing support for IA-32 (VT-x) and Itanium processor (VT-i) virtualization adding new support for I/O-device virtualization. Intel VT-d can help end users improve security and reliability of the systems and also improve performance of I/O devices in virtualized environments.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper fast runs cooler then my old FX-8350

Pros: 6 cores 12 threads
easily overclocked
DDR4 memory

Cons: 28 lanes not really a con I will never run 4 way sli but being able to have the option should be there for a high end cpu like this

Other Thoughts: great cpu got it to 4.5ghz with only 1.25v @ 55-60c under a corsair H100i GTX cooler
i7 5820k @ 4.5ghz 1.25v
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15D-16GVR

5 out of 5 eggsbest cpu i have ever owned--even after 2 years

Pros: it does not matter what i throw at it, this cpu barely works hard. i have it on liquid cooling and the pump always stays quiet and cool and just kicks rear. my cousin designs and animates 3d models for games. his pc was down, so we rendered it on mine. by the time he got to the kitchen and back with a drink it was done. normally takes a couple of hours on his rig.

Cons: does not dispense beer

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent CPU

Pros: Great CPU. Have yet to actually push it above 30% load outside of stress testing.

Cons: Fairly expensive.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't get anything less

Pros: Fast, 6 cores, 28 lanes is enough

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Don't waste money on the 40 lane chip or get something less with 4 cores for 20 bucks less. In the future the X99 boards can use the new CPUs with 10 cores. It's been tested that SLI 40 vs 28 has no difference in performance. It's all marketing horsec. SLI is a waste of money when 1 card will do. I've been using computers since the Mac with 1200 modem and 20MB HDD, then 486DX33 with 2400 modem being SysOp of my BBS with Fidonet. I've been online using "social" media before 90% of the people on Newegg and population in general. I've seen and heard it all from these companies marketing departments. I also had Voodoo 2 cards that were a waste of money and had SLI and 12MB per card.

If you're doing editing it's a different story and an 8 core or more will only give you a little better performance and shave a few minutes or seconds off. This CPU is the sweet spot. Make sure you pair it with a motherboard that has USB 3.1 and M.2 3.0 x4

5 out of 5 eggsInsanity

Pros: Overlocked to 4.6 on air cooling with a Asus x99 board. I won the silicone lottery. Very stable, have owned the CPU for about a year and laughs at everything I throw at it, multiple cores are fantastic.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsMonster CPU

Pros: - I bought this to replace my i7-2700k. I needed the 6 cores for 3D rendering and video editing. At stock this CPU was able to significantly cut down on rendering time from my O.C'd 2700K. After overclocking the 5820k, my times were again cut down quite a lot.
- I was able to O.C. it to 4.3 at 1.165v. I could go further but I don't see the need at the point and I don't think taking it to it's limit is really the best way to go.
- Love this CPU. Glad I upgraded.

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: - I would certainly recommend this to anyone who has a need for the 6 cores. If you are looking to this chip for gaming purposes, you may want to take a look at the 4790k or the 6700k. You will get better performance in most games, since at this point most games are not able to utilize 6 cores and the 5820k is clocked at 3.3 Ghz stock, where the 4970K and the 6700k are clocked higher.

5 out of 5 eggsBEAST CPU

Pros: gameplay fps is so much more stable, with two r9 270x 4gv versions i used to get 220 avg fps on cs go, now i get 250-300-400 fps readings that werent possible before. Arma 3 runs entirely better and i can stream it 1080p medium 60fps in obs no problem on arma. Squad was a night and day change instantly, from 20avg fps on my amd 4.7ghz to 60 no problem avg and sometimes over 100 fps! games that are cpu reliant will be smoked by this cpu its awesome. easy to overclock as most mobos have a default oc setting up to 4.6 ghz.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: best cpu ive ever had in the past 10 years.

5 out of 5 eggsit's a beast

Pros: Great CPU. Pair it with theD15 and you can run it hard all day. I do a lot of video rendering and it chews through my projects with no effort.

Cons: The 28 pcie lanes but it's plenty of only running 1 GPU and not in SLI / Crossfire
