Pros: This CPU is blazing fast, overclocked to 4.3ghz via Asus' overclocking tool, I can likely go much higher once I do it manually and replace the current RAM and replace with better MOBO. I love hyper-threading as well.

Other Thoughts: I'm coming from a 2500k and do a lot of gaming, and I constantly read people saying how there is no point in upgrading from a 2500k yet. I strongly disagree. My minimum and average FPS in my favorite game has shot up by a whopping 15fps.
On top of that, even if people mainly use their PC for gaming, I imagine everyone also uses their PC for other tasks which could include programming, photoshop type work, etc. and this is a great processor for many reasons besides games.

You really can't go wrong with this.

Pros: Seriously this cpu is ridiculous. Going from first gen i7 920 is like night and day. This thing uses so little power at stock speeds and at 4.0 which it overclocks to so easily. It also does 4.4 pretty easy. I have no processor bottlenecks with this thing in there and with a mild oc it easily beats the 1151 processors.

-Future proof. New graphics APIs such as DX12 and Vulkan allow for CPU scalability in games. We'll start seeing 6, 8, 10, and 12 core cpus being utilized to their potential.

-generates a decent amount of heat so make sure you have adequate cooling

Other Thoughts: This CPU is for those who want a future proof CPU both for gaming and professional productivity applications such as video rendering, image editing etc. Overclocks really well and is a solid performer. Highly recommended.

Pros: it does not matter what i throw at it, this cpu barely works hard. i have it on liquid cooling and the pump always stays quiet and cool and just kicks rear. my cousin designs and animates 3d models for games. his pc was down, so we rendered it on mine. by the time he got to the kitchen and back with a drink it was done. normally takes a couple of hours on his rig.

Cons: does not dispense beer

Pros: Great CPU. Have yet to actually push it above 30% load outside of stress testing.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste money on the 40 lane chip or get something less with 4 cores for 20 bucks less. In the future the X99 boards can use the new CPUs with 10 cores. It's been tested that SLI 40 vs 28 has no difference in performance. It's all marketing horsec. SLI is a waste of money when 1 card will do. I've been using computers since the Mac with 1200 modem and 20MB HDD, then 486DX33 with 2400 modem being SysOp of my BBS with Fidonet. I've been online using "social" media before 90% of the people on Newegg and population in general. I've seen and heard it all from these companies marketing departments. I also had Voodoo 2 cards that were a waste of money and had SLI and 12MB per card.

If you're doing editing it's a different story and an 8 core or more will only give you a little better performance and shave a few minutes or seconds off. This CPU is the sweet spot. Make sure you pair it with a motherboard that has USB 3.1 and M.2 3.0 x4
