5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: 6 core, 12 thread, super fast

Cons: Expensive but you get intel quality. This replaced a Core 2 quad Q9550 that was made in 2008 according to the serial number and that I have been using overclocked since 2010. Still kicking today but it was time for an upgrade.

Other Thoughts: Have yet to overclock as I have no need to. Plenty fast at stock speed. Total overkill for gaming but worth while if you don't want to upgrade again for a long time.

5 out of 5 eggsBig Brother

Pros: 40 pcie lanes, six cores and the highest base clock of the three brothers.

Cons: Like its brothers this runs hot hot hot!!!

Other Thoughts: Coming from an impressive performance of i7 5820k, less than a month ago I was hesitant but at the same time I couldn't resist the price drop to $460.00 plus three games; cs go, world of warships and just cause 3. So Feck it!!! I must say I have been very lucky with this one and she's going to stay with me for a long time. The compute performances are identical to its lil bro but the chip in this one overclocks to a whopping 4.8 ghz at 1.3 volts. That is huge!!! I didnt push it further than that as the temps at idle were high 50s even on a liquid cooling AIO (ekwb predator360). And speaking purely in terms of gaming I didn't notice any improvement in performance at all or maybe I was too paranoid to notice. So I decided to play safe ball and I have it up and running about overclocked to 4.5 ghz at 1.25 volts. Not bad at all. The temps idle around 40s and goes up to high 60s under full load, acceptable. I'm sure if I crank the fans up full speed the temps could drop a few degrees down. I sure don't mind the noise. Other than that the only major improvement has been the extra PCIE lanes. I could definitely use the extra lanes in the future if I decide to add another card to my two way 980 SLI. But that has been the big debate going on in me for a while now. A three way 980 SLI or a two way 980ti SLI??? Lets see what the future holds for me. So far so good and so happy.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Fast

Pros: New rig I just built using this CPU, running stock 3.5 ghz, renders 3d frames nearly twice as fast as my previous rig, which is a 6 core i7 970 at 3.2 ghz

Very happy I got this instead of the 8-core 3.0 ghz. Initially I felt like I was barely upgrading by getting another 6 core cpu, but the speed increase this CPU (and all the current gen components, of course) gave me was far greater than I had expected.

Cons: Hotter than my previous rig by idle. Could be the

Other Thoughts: Heat stresses me out, and this definitely runs hotter than my previous rig by 10-15 c, just at idle. They both have Corsair H-100's, This one's 2 months old and other has been going about 4 years now.
The important thing is that it stays in the 50-60c range while rendering, which is fine I guess.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Support by Intel

Pros: This is my second review on this processor.

This is a real nice CPU. I guess this is expected from Intel. Two months after purchase system died with Q-Code AE (legacy boot event). Thirteen weeks with 3 RMA's and 1 replacement with Asus on the board and it was finally determined that the trouble had to be the CPU. Intel came through like the professional company they are.

Thanks for the help Intel. Items fail and that is to be expected at times. A company that stands behind their product has my loyalty every time.

Cons: Item failed. Big deal, they stood behind product and did it in a weeks time.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Not much to say that hasn't been said before. This is a great, well rounded CPU with 40 PCI-e lanes at a good price point for the amount of cores and cache that is offered. The extra $200 or so for this over the 5820k is justified for me, since I fully intend on running up to 3-way SLI in the near future and need the full 40 lanes this chip offers. This thing is an absolute monster and has handled everything I have thrown at it, including VMs, media editing and gaming, some of which were done simultaneously. Given the rate of progress by Intel, this CPU should last most users between 3-6 years.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsSecond best CPU of all time

Pros: What can I say that hasn't been said before. A great CPU all-around, offering 40 PCI lanes.

I use this CPU in my 4K media/gaming server, and along with 64GB DDR4 ram it provides ultra-smooth sailing even on the hurricane infested waters of intense multi-tasking.

Cons: None at all. Well, it's not 8-core...

Other Thoughts: Second best CPU, right behind the 5960X, but still more than good enough for all the demanding needs of my media server.
