I just wanted something fairly quick to back up my operating system without having to go get a bluray disc and wait for it to burn the files. 15-20 minutes total. usb drive took only 8 minutes in windows. Cons: Not really a con but these usb drives are slow as molasses compared to using a hard drive to backup partitions. 180 mb's per minute usb drive as opposed to 2200 mb's per minute sata3 hard drive, but I wanted something separate from the computer in case it melts down like Chernobyl. Better off writing the files to hard disk, then transfering them to usb drive when you are in windows. Other Thoughts: Advertised speed on these drives is 10 write and 80 read, but I was happy to see it had the speeds below even though the read speed was well below advertised. Write speed is well above what's advertised. Both Atto hard drive benchmark and windows 7 came in with same numbers transfering files. I use ghost for my backups and my computer will recognize the drive in a usb2 port, but not the usb3 port when booting to dos. usb2- 20 write 30 read usb3- 25 write 45 read Did you find this review helpful?
