5 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review

Pros: This is following my previous review.
These are great!
See Other Thoughts.

Cons: See Other Thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Like most people, I had trouble getting the sticks to run at 1066. The system was only recognizing it as DDR2 800. Work around solution - overclocked system by 30% with a multiplier of X16.00 (4.03Ghz) this in turn achieves a higher DRAM timing. Then I had to adjust the DRAM timings manually and add additional voltage. (2.38) So I have been able to achieve a 1027 MHz clock.

5 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: High Performance
Brand Name.
Works.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Bought these to juice up an old board. Thought there might be incompatibility issues with my other 2X 2GB Corsairs Dominators ; but in the end POST'ed no problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performer, Stable

Pros: High quality, great performance, overclockable memory Nice, effective heatspreaders. Timings can be tweaked tighter than advertised. The tighter timings achieved, has my system very, very, snappy and stable!

Cons: Price. Not all compatible motherboards overclock out to 1066 Mhz with this memory. It may take considerable effort (depending on the MB) to achieve desired results.

Other Thoughts: Currently running very (without errors) well on an Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard. Despite best efforts, can't overclock out to 1066 at Kingston recommended settings.

However, I was able to overclock out to 887 Mhz @ 2.1 V with 4-4-4-12-4 TRFC 42 timings. Impressive 7.4 W.E.I. score with Win 7 64 Bit OS. These results may be more desirable than running at 1066 Mhz with the 5-5-5-15 recommend timings, however.

Perhaps running 4 sticks for a total of 8 Ghz prevents 1066 Mhz overclocks on my system. Regardless, this memory rocks, after apparently finding the sweet spots.

I highly recommend the Kingston HyperX cooler as a great compliment for cooling down this memory. Raising the voltage from the default 1.8 V out to 2.0 V and beyond, results in considerable higher temps that need cooling down. The cooler knocks down the temp on my motherboard, on average, 10 degrees!

5 out of 5 eggsNever too much RAM

Pros: Already a set of this memory so I just recently bought a second to increase to 8 gigs of ram. I've been running the first set for about two years without issue. New set went right in without a hitch. Heatsinks are nice and don't get in the way.

Cons: It's DDR2. I probably could have upgraded my MB and bought some cheap DDR3 for a better performance increase, but I'm working on a budget.

Other Thoughts: K9A2 Platinum MB
Phenon II x4 965

2 out of 5 eggsNeed voltage tweaks

Pros: Good memory
No faults
Slim Heatsink

Cons: Doesn't work at 1066 without voltage tweak

Manufacturer Response:

HyperX memory is designed to default to a conservative JEDEC standard specification, in this case 800Mhz, and requires the user to go into the BIOS and configure the overclocking features.

This memory must be set to the follow timings and voltage to run at 1066Mhz:

5 Cas Latency (CL)
5 Ras to Cas Delay or Row to Column Delay (tRCD)
5 Row Precharge Delay or Ras Precharge Delay (trp or tRCP)
15 Row Active Delay or Ras Active to Precharge Delay or Time to Ready (tra, trd or tRAS)
2.3 Voltage

You may also check for the timings and voltage for your HyperX part by visiting http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/hyperx

If the memory will not run at its rated speed or if you require additional assistance, please contact our Technical Support team at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and one of our Technical Support Representatives will assist you with the problem. Please be sure to have the part on hand if you call in.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable, Fast

Pros: Bought this for a buddy of mine's system. Fast, does the job, and I can't get him to shut the pie hole about how quick his machine processes memory related tasks.
Win7Ult also states that his memory rates 7.0

Cons: Kinda expensive

Other Thoughts: Probably more of an issue with the Motherboard he's using, but I had to manually configure the settings to get the full potential out of the memory. It's much faster than using the Auto-Config setting.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless Use So Far

Pros: It's memory, it goes in one way, an idiot can install it successfully. Plug and play, didn't have to modify any configuration in BIOS, just started it up and went from 2 GB on a 32 bit system to 8 GB on a 64 bit system.

Cons: Other memory seems cheaper, but my motherboard requires this hardware. Ah well.
