2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Works fine at 1333 MHz

Cons: Requires BIOS modifications to run at 1600 MHz. Some versions of BIOS do not allow these including the American Megatrends BIOS on my Dell XPS 8700 desktop computer.

Other Thoughts: Kingston's specs do point out that these DIMMs default to 1333 MHz. (See http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX1600C10D3B1_8G.pdf ) It's misleading to advertise them as 1600 MHz DIMMs when you must change memory timings in BIOS to make them run at that speeed.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect so far

Pros: 10 sticks for 10 AMD APU-based workstations, and each one tested for 10 hours+ with memtest86+. Not a single error, and the workstations are running like a charm. Can't comment on longevity yet, after only a month and a half, but I'm very, very happy thus far.

Cons: They don't pop themselves into DIMM slots?

Other Thoughts: My builds were semi-budget builds, but I wanted solid RAM. The Kingston sticks were cheaper than some performance sticks, and more expensive than budget RAM. I am very happy with the result.

5 out of 5 eggsKingston HyperX 8GB of DDR3 1600mhz Memory

Pros: Really good RAM. Lowest price out there and you get quality tech for your buck. Very great for beginner Gaming PCs. Worked just as advertised and was easy to install (as all RAM is). The blue heatsink is a nice touch too.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This RAM is fantastic, I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsVMware use.

Pros: It works. For me it's under-clocked to 1333 but I knew that was going to be the case by the MB limitation.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Matched with a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 at 1333 and a 6300FX running ESX Server 5.1. Rock solid so far.

Pros: Great ram for a good price. Heat sinks fit well with CPU coolers and look good. Can be OC and change CL.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD RAM

Pros: 8 Gig sticks. Cool blue color. Bought 2 and they perform flawlessly.

Cons: None really....could be faster...but that's a choice I made.

Other Thoughts: Was a good buy when I purchased them. Price vs. Performance....pretty much a no-brainer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM Man!

Pros: Easy install, no problems. Runs cool, beefs up my system and it looks totally rad to the max!

It was cheaper when I bought it!

Cons: Isn't covered in chocolate or filled with caramel.

Other Thoughts: I now have 16GB, I will eventually buy two more sticks for 32GB total. Hopefully it will be cheaper by then!

5 out of 5 eggsFANTASTIC RAM!!!

Pros: Easy to install of coarse. After setting speed in bios it operates perfectly at the advertised 1600Mhz speed. 8GB on one stick leaves plenty of room for future memory upgrade. Low profile so it does not get in the way of other installed items on the motherboard like an aftermarket cooler ( at least on my motherboard).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have used Kingston memory many times over the last 15 years and never had a problem. They make high quality memory and again have been making memory a long time. I would buy again and will when I upgrade to 16gb by adding a second one of these memory modules.

3 out of 5 eggsNot clocked correctly!

Pros: Has 8GB of storage as advertised. Nice heat spreader.

Cons: Installed into my motherboard and fired up they system to find that the memory is operating at 1333MHz. If I set it to 1600 manually, the system fails. Not sure how it can be sold as 1600 DDR3 when it doesn't auto-recognize as that.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Rob,
I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support and would like to offer our assistance. HyperX memory is overclocking memory and is advertised/labeled at the speed it is tested to reach. It is set for the default profile of JEDEC spec 1333MHz to ensure it will work with the system prior to overclocking to any higher speed. We are here to help and can advise on the proper timings that would need to be set in order to achieve 1600MHz speed with this memory. You may also want to check what memory speed your processor supports and if it requires any special configuration in order to allow for higher memory speeds. For further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.
