1 out of 5 eggsRuns at 1333

Pros: works

Cons: It's running at 1333 instead of 1600

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for the issue experienced with the HyperX Blu memory. HyperX memory is designed to run at the advertised overclocked specification, for this module it would be DDR3-1600 CL10. By default the memory will run at it's default standard JEDEC specification of DDR3-1333 CL9. To run the HyperX memory at the higher specification changes to the DRAM timing would need to be made manually in the BIOS of the system. We are here to help and can advise what settings would need to be changed. Please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

4 out of 5 eggsCareful What You Order

Pros: Works on my XPS 8700 fast

Cons: Found out the hard way that I ordered the Wrong modules fro my XPS 8700 I needed KTD-XPS730C/8G so that It would clock at 1600Mhz and not default to 1333Mhz
So even though you see ddr3 8g pc3-12800 sdram,WATCH OUT as Kingston informed me the major Brands mobo's and bios don't clock 1600 UNLESS you my the EXACT STICK FOR YOUR BOARD!!

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Works fine at 1333 MHz

Cons: Requires BIOS modifications to run at 1600 MHz. Some versions of BIOS do not allow these including the American Megatrends BIOS on my Dell XPS 8700 desktop computer.

Other Thoughts: Kingston's specs do point out that these DIMMs default to 1333 MHz. (See http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX1600C10D3B1_8G.pdf ) It's misleading to advertise them as 1600 MHz DIMMs when you must change memory timings in BIOS to make them run at that speeed.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for the issue experienced with the HyperX memory. All HyperX memory, except Plug and Play modules, requires settings to be changed in BIOS in order to achieve it's advertised specifications as it is overclocking memory. The memory is defaulted to a standard stable specification to verify compatibility after which timings and voltage can be adjusted to overclock the memory to the high frequency and/or lower latency specification. HyperX memory in general is not recommended for branded computers as most do not allow changes in BIOS and overclocking may void the computer warranty as well. Branded computers also tend to have very specific requirements for memory, for this reason we manufacture branded memory modules which are tested and guaranteed to work properly in specific computer models. The compatible 1600MHz 8GB module for the XPS 8700 is part number KTD-XPS730C/8G. For any further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect so far

Pros: 10 sticks for 10 AMD APU-based workstations, and each one tested for 10 hours+ with memtest86+. Not a single error, and the workstations are running like a charm. Can't comment on longevity yet, after only a month and a half, but I'm very, very happy thus far.

Cons: They don't pop themselves into DIMM slots?

Other Thoughts: My builds were semi-budget builds, but I wanted solid RAM. The Kingston sticks were cheaper than some performance sticks, and more expensive than budget RAM. I am very happy with the result.

5 out of 5 eggsKingston HyperX 8GB of DDR3 1600mhz Memory

Pros: Really good RAM. Lowest price out there and you get quality tech for your buck. Very great for beginner Gaming PCs. Worked just as advertised and was easy to install (as all RAM is). The blue heatsink is a nice touch too.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This RAM is fantastic, I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsVMware use.

Pros: It works. For me it's under-clocked to 1333 but I knew that was going to be the case by the MB limitation.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Matched with a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 at 1333 and a 6300FX running ESX Server 5.1. Rock solid so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD RAM

Pros: 8 Gig sticks. Cool blue color. Bought 2 and they perform flawlessly.

Cons: None really....could be faster...but that's a choice I made.

Other Thoughts: Was a good buy when I purchased them. Price vs. Performance....pretty much a no-brainer.
