3 out of 5 eggs1333, not 1600 FOLLOW UP

Pros: Newegg delivered on the merchandise. Kingston, not so much.

Cons: So I called Kingston support and they told me that I was supposed to change the settings in the BIOS to reflect the new timings to get 1600. How can I, when the Kingston RAM eliminates the setting in the BIOS on boot and speed remains at 1333 as photos I took indicate. 8 GB RAM dual Channel a5t 1600 vs 16 GB Kingston RAM dual channel 1333. What's up Kingston?

Other Thoughts: I will attach the photos to an e-mail I will send to Kingston Support tomorrow. The G-Skill 8 GB RAM was what I had before I purchased the 16 GB Kingston that does indeed default to 1333. Sure, not that much difference in speed, Kingston, but why did you assure me it would run at 1600. Yes, I am using an Ivy Bridge Intel processor!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Ron,
I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. This memory can achieve 1600MHz speed if the memory timing settings are manually changed in you motherboard's BIOS. To get that speed one would need to change the memory timings to CL10-10-10-27 @1.5V. The HyperX memory part number KHX16C10B1RK2/16 is not XMP enabled, part number KHX16C10B1RK2/16X is XMP enabled and would make the overclocking of the as simple as selecting the option in your BIOS as it is XMP compatible as you stated. Typically, one should be able to change the timings even without XMP settings by changing the memory timing settings to manual instead of auto. Also, most HyperX memory is set to the default JEDEC SPD of DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9 @1.5V for stability and are listed at the highest speed they are tested to properly reach. For further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

3 out of 5 eggs1333, not 1600

Pros: Meh!

Cons: As N/A stated, They are programmed at the factory to 1333 in the SPDs. Xtreme Memory Profile needs to be activated in the BIOS but the RAM, upon physical insertion, takes that option away and the settings in the BIOS are no longer available to change the timings as well. I spoke with the mobo manufacturer and was told that I need to find RAM that will allow the XTreme Memory Profile to return and the timing settings available. Very disappointed!

4 out of 5 eggsNice on sale!

Pros: Stable memory thus far. Installed 32GB in my linux WS.

Cons: Not the fastest out there.

Other Thoughts: It is RAM and it is nice to have 32GB of it in my Gentoo Linux WS, serving as a host for many virtual installs.... hostname == medusa

5 out of 5 eggsWhat more could you ask for?

Pros: It's Kingston RAM. How bad can it be? Kingston may not have a reputation for power output, but it's RAM. You're looking for reliability.

Cons: Please.

Other Thoughts: 4 different builds of my PC, all used Kingston. And happier for it.

2 out of 5 eggsthey are programmed for 1333

Pros: Good quality; I am sure they will work fine at 1333

Cons: They are programmed at the factory to 1333 in the SPDs
I would call that deceiving and then sell them as 1600

Other Thoughts: using them in Dell Vostro 270 and they are clocking at 1333

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for the issue that's occurring with the HyperX memory. However, HyperX memory requires changes to be made in BIOS to configure the overclocking features. We can advised you on which timings need to be changed to achieve the 1600Mhz speed. There is alo another HyperX product called PnP, Plug and Play, where all you need to do is plug them in and the system automatically boots to the specified speed. Kingston products are 100% tested to meet the listed specifications. For further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: works on i7 3770k rig oc'd @ 4.5ghz on air. cheap. memtest passed out of the box. no errors or BSOD's running prime95 for 12 hours.

Cons: none really. works as advertised.

Other Thoughts: i don't think SPD settings matter as much as they used to for performance at the ddr3 level. this stuff is cheap and 16gb gives enough headroom to run all sorts of thick software without having any ram issues. alt+tab in every game is instantaneous

5 out of 5 eggsNice RAM

Pros: Standard height, no funky overkill headspreaders - One of the main reasons I went with this RAM. Have a TR Venomous X, and trying to squeeze DIMMs with large heatspreaders in the first two RAM slots is a pain, if not impossible.

Got is as a Daily Deal, so a decent price for the kit.

Cons: Like others have said, no XMP, which means it takes a whopping 30 seconds of poking around the BIOS to set it manually.

Other Thoughts: Running in a MSI P67A-G45 with an i7 2600K. Haven't tried running it above stock settings.

5 out of 5 eggsDo the job

Pros: Easy to install, relatively quiet, good airflow. Can't beat the price.

Cons: A little louder than I expected for "silent fans" and they have three pin connectors, not four. So no control of speed unless you buy an adapter

Other Thoughts: Still 5 stats. I'll buy some low voltage adapters, they're very inexpensive.
